I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Stay away from this glass place they have the worst customer service. We paid $2000 yes two thousand dollars for a piece of glass for our dining room table. Guess what? They lost it when they moved twice. Now they are saying that we have to pay an additional $500 for them to replace the glass that THEY lost. We ordered the glass in 2013 after our glass broke on our table. We had it delivered but they couldn't get it into the elevator. They said they couldn't get it up the stairs because they weren't insured. So they kept it for us until we are moving which is now. We have called intermittently since we bought it to confirm they still had it. I cannot believe how rude they are! Any company would apologize and give us a replacement glass dont YOU agree? read more

Jonathan came out to measure and a couple weeks later my pieces were fabricated and painted with a custom color and ready for install. Despite the fact that a couple pieces needed to be redone. Bear Glass, are you kidding me with this? This is the fourth time I have stayed home from work to wait for your people to come for an appointment. And it's the fourth time that no one has shown up. No call from you that they'll be late. Just another no show. Each time I've had to call YOU to see if you're coming. The first three times I was told that "the guy called in sick." Today, the excuse is that he's running late (2.5 hours!) and should be here in 10 - 15. I'm pretty sure you forgot and are just sending someone from your Windsor Terrace location. I should mention that the one time you did show up (to measure for the mirror - literally a 90 second visit to my apartment), you were an hour late, and I had to pull my 18-month son out of the bathtub to come answer the door. You refunded my money in full after the third no-show, which I appreciate, but COME ON! Even a free mirror isn't worth this hassle. Get your shit together, Bear Glass. And Yelpers, do not give these jokers your business. There has got to be a better place to get a mirror cut in the NYC-area. read more

I have never seen such a dysfunctional group of employees. I went to pick up an order and went to the office which had about ten employees in there and I was not acknowledged at all even though every single one of them looked at me at one point or another (you can't miss me, I'm a 6'5" dude who's head almost hits the ceiling). After standing there for two minutes unacknowledged I said loudly "I'm here to pick up an order! Can anybody help me?!" The guy who helped me had absolutely no personality and zero people skills. After traversing the garbage heap that is the Bear Glass facility, I finally retrieved my order. What a mini purgatory this place is. The people there are not professional at all, the place is not organized or clean at all. I will not be doing business with them again. I should note that I have purchased glass from three different producers and have had similar experiences. Glass businesses just tend to be that way I guess. Also, American culture in general has very poor customer service and severely lacking in professional skills. Especially in NYC where everybody is crabby. read more

After 3 weeks gave up on reaching out for an estimate. I renovated my house and have 3 showers, my contractor gave me an estimate from one of the glass experts he has worked before, it was little expensive so I though to give my neighborhood glass shop a chance, and may be save some $$ Sent a message on their contact link, 2 days latter called to see if they had my message, they didn't, so I explained what I was looking for and they said they will contact me latter to set an appointment, 3 days go by and finally someone contacted me, I told the guy that he could go to the house at any time because the contractors still there, he want it me to be there so I could choose finishes and hardware, He couldn't make it before 8:00am or after 6:00pm (sorry for working 9-5) So he called me later to tell me that he'll make an exception and come Saturday at 10:00am. At this point I'm sure I don't need to tell you that they didn't showed up right? We are few blocks away, there is no traffic excuses or any other bs, I called around noon which I consider to be really patient, surprise, no one answered because it's Saturday. I basically gave up but some other guy called me on Monday and came right away, took measurements and left in less then 30 minutes, according to my contractor. He called me later to tell me that he had left those measurements at the office and that Rudy or trudy will get back to me. On Wednesday finally got a call from Trudy, I was surprised and exited to get the estimate, she didn't have it, she actually called to set an appointment to take measurements, hahahah#@$%^&* I had to explain to her that she had them and that I was waiting for the estimate, she said that she will call me back latter that day, she didn't. Today Friday, I called to see if by any weird chance they had the estimate and guess what??????? She called out sick and no one else could give me any information at all. Please people at Yelp, make the zero star option available for vendors like bear glass. I hope this review save someone else the time and stress I have put on the las 3 weeks. read more

I am FURIOUS. Bear Glass in Brooklyn has an automated faxer who constantly faxes their advertisements to me at all hours of the day and night to my home. Today I got another one, heard the fax tone, saw who it was, and hung up. They called me back FOUR TIMES after that. I have called them FIVE TIMES through the years (twice today!) to be removed from their fax list and they haven't done it, obviously. DO NOT PATRONIZE A BUSINESS THAT HAS SO LITTLE RESPECT FOR OTHERS and who do not honor the requests of innocent people whom they bombard with their ads. I will report them to the BBB and also the Do Not Call Registry, where my number is registered. DISGUSTED. read more

Not sure what the issues are but this company did a very nice job with a shower enclosure for one of our www.fodesign.info clients. It was for their Boerum Hill brownstone and they gave a fair price and the work came out great. They also quoted an ellipse shape table top which we did not end up doing as it was very pricey. But we appreciated the time they took to do the quote and the explanation of the cost. read more

The absolute worst is Trudy, but the others are no better. All of their installation guys, except for 1 quit because of her. I do't understand how the hell they stay in business. The had to measure 23 times because they lost the measurements. Everyone else here is right, they NEVER return a phone call, even when promised to do so. It took over 9 weeks from initial deposit to have the glass installed - quoted about 2 weeks...they only missed the mark by 2 months. Very unprofessional service. They never have your glass ready on time. They lie and say its being wrapped, mean while they're making it. It's happened to me 3 times already. I started writing this review in March and planned to post it when our backsplash was finally installed. So why am I posting on May 22? Let's start at the beginning: 1. Scheduled installation in March delayed because the backsplash "needed to dry." 2. We called to confirm the appointment the morning of the next scheduled delivery...and were told "the piece hasn't been made yet so they aren't coming today." If we hadn't called, it seems that they just would not have shown up and would also not have notified us. Oh, and the piece that previously needed to dry now hasn't been made at all, apparently. 3. Rescheduled installation cancelled with no notice, apology or explanation. 4. Backsplash installed...and cut incorrectly. Let me digress here. I can understand if you make something and the measurements are off. That can happen. But in this case what happened is that the piece was cut such that it wasn't a rectangle. It wasn't even a quadrilateral. One half of one side of the piece was cut at an angle. How did nobody at the fabrication plant notice that? Too big, too small, I can understand. But cut into an irregular shape when the plans call for a rectangle? Really? 5. Did I mention that this project was two separate pieces? That's important...because when they came a couple of weeks later to install the previously miscut piece, they had painted it a different color than the other side. So now we have two non-matching parts of a backsplash. 6. They have (finally) made both pieces and arrive to install them...but only bring one of the pieces with them. Reschedule. 7. Success! Both pieces of the backsplash are here, are installed, are the same color and are the right size. Was that process worth it? Not in a million years. The backsplash looks fine. But this was a massive hassle. It's completely inexcusable for a company to do business this way, and if you read the other reviews here (as I wish we had before starting with them) it doesn't seem that this was a one-off. It's just how they do things. The only consolation I have is that they had to make our backsplash so many times that they must have lost money on the project. Good--they should pay a price for their ineptitude. But you shouldn't--don't use Bear Glass. read more

They are the only company that can fix it since they did the install so I'm stuck. If there was an award for worst business practice, Bear Glass would be on the short list. I ordered two pieces of patterned glass to be tempered and the salesperson said he had the glass in stock and with tempering it would take about a week. I was busy with other jobs and did not check in with them until three weeks later. The rep said the glass was cut and was at the tempering facility. Another week goes by and I call to get an update. No one knew what was going on with my order, but would call back by end of day. Having received no call, I called the next morning and the rep told me that one of the pieces of glass broke and would have to be re cut and sent out again to be tempered. The rep informed me that it should be ready by next Tuesday. So, according the Martian calendar that Bear Glass apparently uses my glass should be ready by Twelfth Night? I would expect this kind of incompetence if Bear Glass were the only glass company in a 200 mile radius in a sparsely populated part of the country, say, Wyoming, but this is New York City. The rules of competition apparently do not apply in South Slope. STAY AWAY, STAY VERY FAR AWAY! read more

I had a teriffic experience at Bear Glass. I needed 6 pieces of mirror cut for a home project I was doing. Mark the owner is a funny and nice man who had his guy do it for me on the spot although they were just about to close. If you are a glass and mirror lover, they have ALL KINDS OF BEAUTIFUL CHOICES; antique mirror, etched glass, colored mirror. Really quite a resource for those who are looking to do any home or craft project that involves glass or mirror...from the ordinary to the sublime. Easy parking right next to the cemetery, 20th right above 7th Ave. Definitely check out the website. I was lucky; just googled 'park slope mirrors cut' and they came right up. read more
