I purchased a pair of Brooks sneakers from Bear Creek Running Company in Keller back in January. I will say this upfront -- they were probably the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned. That said, in less than 90 days, a hole worn through the toe area. Full disclosure: I do walk about 36 miles a month. I went into the store and showed the damage. The two young men working there at the time were twin brothers. They actually suggested I use duct tape to cover the hole. Honestly, hearing that regarding a $145 premium pair of Brooks sneakers was pretty shocking. My wife had given me Mark, the owner's, contact information. I called him, and to his credit, while he was not too pleasant on the phone, he did seem concerned. He asked me to come back to the store on the day he was going to be there and said he'd work something out regarding a return or credit. When I arrived at the retail store to return my torn sneakers, a nice young man named Jonathan helped me. They didn't have another pair of Brooks available, which honestly I was hesitant to buy again anyway after this experience. He then brought out a pair of black New Balance shoes that were actually more expensive than the Brooks. I explained that Mark had said they would work something out regarding the torn sneakers. Jonathan walked to the back, spoke to Mark, then came back and told me they would only give me 50% credit -- and they had to keep the original shoes. I asked if I could at least keep them to use as yard shoes since they were only offering half credit, and he said no, he could not do that because they would be returning the shoes to the manufacturer. So I declined the New Balance shoes and left. Here's the part that really stands out: I called Brooks customer service directly. Patrick R., a Brooks running specialist, simply asked for the numbers on the tongue of the shoe. No photos. No argument. No hassle. Brooks immediately agreed to send me a replacement pair based purely on customer service and standing behind their brand. What truly bothers me is this: The store most likely could have returned the damaged shoes to Brooks themselves and received full credit/replacement exactly like I did, yet they only offered me 50% credit while trying to steer me into a different, more expensive shoe that wasn't even close to the style I originally purchased. Mark, here's a little advice:When you operate a local retail business in a community like Keller, Texas, and you carry premium brands that stand behind their products, your store should do the same. Shame on Bear Creek Running Company for the customer service I received. People deserve to know the difference between a company that stands behind its customers and one -- Bear Creek Running Company -- that doesn't. read more

My mother was having some pain in her feet and knees and we had come to Bear Creek Running to help her find a pair of shoes. I had come several years ago and they were very helpful. We are not runners, but the staff was incredibly helpful and gave us very helpful and thoughtful responses while we looked for a pair of shoes that mom felt comfortable in. After they roughly assessed gait and foot measurements, the staff member who helped us brought out 5 different pairs to try and took the time to go through and explain why each pair could be a viable option. We ended up picking up a pair and so far so good. I was looking for some good insoles for my walking shoes.I found Superfeet Green on the internet but when it comes to the pups, I gotta take them for a stroll, otherwise they will be barking all night, Being a serious Walker & knocking out 700,000 steps monthly you gotta take care of the puppies Luckily there were 3 places for me to see and try 2 of them actually had my size a 12D either big box or locally owned no brainer for me, so off I went.Location was great Keller Towne Square area, small shop packed with goodies they're actually a running club supplier which works great for a walker had the good shoes Saucony, Hoka, Brooks etc. Compression sleeves (a must for me), Socks and performance gear, plus they schedule events which you can join a run with their FB page is bear creek run club. But wait there's more. The service was exceptional the young man went above and beyond to fit me with the proper insoles without his help I would have picked the wrong size, they cut them to fit my shoes it's been a week an I love my purchase an appreciate the attention to detail during my visit. I love having a running store nearby and especially love their new location! Came here a few days ago to look for some new racing flats and trainers and wasn't disappointed. The staff are all super knowledgeable about shoes and running in general, which is great for when you're looking to change it up. They carry several different brands, including some old favorites like Brooks and Hoka. I love their shoe collection! They also carry pretty much anything else you could need for getting started or maintaining your running routine: sports bras, shorts, tights, and even gels and water bottles. It's truly a one stop shop! I also noted during my visit here that they have ample opportunities to get involved in weekday and weekend runs with others in the Keller/North Fort Worth area. Definitely recommend this spot to all local runners and anyone looking to branch out to meet new people! read more

Bear Creek Running Co is now open 7 days a week and is under new ownership too! While in the past it was not uncommon to see a "temporally closed" sign on the door, I think that will be a thing of the past. BCRC, in addition to a new owner and new hours, BCRC has a larger staff too! The layout of the store has changed slightly. There are more runners supplies, as well nutrition and hydration products. There's also a board showing several of the regular runs in the area. They are: Monday: 6-8PM Beer Creek Running Club, meet at What's on Tap, Keller Town Centre. We have lived in the area for almost 6 years, and I never knew this place was here until I did a search for local running stores. I was in need of a new pair of runners, and the big box stores just don't cut it to get a good fit. Little did I know there's a great local owned shop about 5 min from my house. The shop is small, but really that's okay with me. The customer service is amazing. The sales woman (Alaina, I think - I'm horrible with names) watched me walk around and talked to me about my running style, locations, and mileage. She brought out a few different pairs of shoes, but the first one she showed me ended up being the best fit. She was very helpful and friendly. They were extremely helpful and great customer service from the time I walked in and left. The front desk greeted me at the door and offered help right away. I believe the lady that helped me was Brenda. She was very knowledgeable had all the answers to my questions. She asked me what kind of shoes I prefer and brought me out three different pairs to try I narrowed my selection and she offered for me to try them running on the treadmill which was so helpful! I even learned the "runners loop" We refer patients to them all the time and knowing what a great experience I had I can also share my story with them and continue to send business their way. New cross country mom here! I admit it, I'm no expert when it comes to running for "real sport". The school kind of endorses this store as the place to go to get shoes or I would never have known about it. This is a full service sit down while your size is measured, your shoes are placed on your feet and laced up for you. It kind of gave me a flashback to back in the day when shoe stores did this with their customers. We've had to go three times this year due to high running mileage and blown out shoes. All three times we've had excellent service. They carry Hoka's, my sons choice of running shoe, and last week I left with three pairs of shoes! One pair of track spikes for track season, a pair of Hoka Cliftons and a pair of Hoka Rincons for interval training. School kids get a 10% discount. Local store giving great service is why they have such an excellent reputation in the community. read more

On a mission to replace my old worn Brooks Beast running shoes on New Year's Eve, I found Bear Creek Running Co. open and extremely helpful. Travis helped me understand my gait by analyzing the wear pattern on my old shoes, and helped me understand that the shoes I'd been running in were actually not the best shoes for me (I'm a big guy who supernates). I have had both wonderful and terrible experiences at this store. My family went in as a group, and purchased a bunch of shoes and ordered more which weren't in stock. The gentleman who sold them to us was as nice as could be. Then I went back with my oldest son to pick up some ordered shoes and buy him a new pair, and the woman working was as rude as could be.
