We have lived in the area for almost 6 years, and I never knew this place was here until I did a…read moresearch for local running stores. I was in need of a new pair of runners, and the big box stores just don't cut it to get a good fit. Little did I know there's a great local owned shop about 5 min from my house. The shop is small, but really that's okay with me. The customer service is amazing. The sales woman (Alaina, I think - I'm horrible with names) watched me walk around and talked to me about my running style, locations, and mileage. She brought out a few different pairs of shoes, but the first one she showed me ended up being the best fit. She was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be going back after the miles rack up.

I purchased a pair of Brooks sneakers from Bear Creek Running Company in Keller back in January. I…read morewill say this upfront -- they were probably the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned. That said, in less than 90 days, a hole worn through the toe area. Full disclosure: I do walk about 36 miles a month. I went into the store and showed the damage. The two young men working there at the time were twin brothers. They actually suggested I use duct tape to cover the hole. Honestly, hearing that regarding a $145 premium pair of Brooks sneakers was pretty shocking. My wife had given me Mark, the owner's, contact information. I called him, and to his credit, while he was not too pleasant on the phone, he did seem concerned. He asked me to come back to the store on the day he was going to be there and said he'd work something out regarding a return or credit. When I arrived at the retail store to return my torn sneakers, a nice young man named Jonathan helped me. They didn't have another pair of Brooks available, which honestly I was hesitant to buy again anyway after this experience. He then brought out a pair of black New Balance shoes that were actually more expensive than the Brooks. I explained that Mark had said they would work something out regarding the torn sneakers. Jonathan walked to the back, spoke to Mark, then came back and told me they would only give me 50% credit -- and they had to keep the original shoes. I asked if I could at least keep them to use as yard shoes since they were only offering half credit, and he said no, he could not do that because they would be returning the shoes to the manufacturer. So I declined the New Balance shoes and left. Here's the part that really stands out: I called Brooks customer service directly. Patrick R., a Brooks running specialist, simply asked for the numbers on the tongue of the shoe. No photos. No argument. No hassle. Brooks immediately agreed to send me a replacement pair based purely on customer service and standing behind their brand. What truly bothers me is this: The store most likely could have returned the damaged shoes to Brooks themselves and received full credit/replacement exactly like I did, yet they only offered me 50% credit while trying to steer me into a different, more expensive shoe that wasn't even close to the style I originally purchased. Mark, here's a little advice:When you operate a local retail business in a community like Keller, Texas, and you carry premium brands that stand behind their products, your store should do the same. Shame on Bear Creek Running Company for the customer service I received. People deserve to know the difference between a company that stands behind its customers and one -- Bear Creek Running Company -- that doesn't.

I had no idea Dicks could be so fun. They have everything here…read more They have all brands, colors, and types of water bottles. They have so many different types of shoes, helmets, baseball bats, basketballs, clothing, swim trunks, golf clubs, and SO much more. They literally have everything sporty at this location and they've made it so modern. They have batting cages and a mini golf area set up to test golf clubs. We had so much fun just looking at everything they had within the store. They have a whole section of reasonably priced workout equipment as well & an area you can test some of it out with weights and everything. Most of their clothes are overpriced & some of their other items as well. They do have deals though that make it worth it though.

You know I'm going walk around and marvel at all the stuff I like to have camping, fishing, clothing etc. But I'm always impressed how clean the place is floors shiny lights all lit ceiling tiles immaculate it's not easy keeping a store this size maintained as good. Even the windows are cleaned and nothing bothers me more than going anywhere & sit down to eat then look out the windows and realize how filthy it is. I know it's me but I truly appreciated those businesses that take time to have them cleaned periodically.

This is my go-to REI and I often find myself here on accident with no intentional shopping list!…read more This type of experience has occasionally led to me buying the best gifts due to the ever-present associates that are always waiting (and asking) to help! The staff are outdoor-experienced and knowledgeable and friendly, but if you like shopping without being bothered, you may want to get creative or hide when you see them, because they truly are trying to help! (Yes, the membership is worth it...) The value is great and sales are typically pretty good (in-store and online), but what's really great is the dividend members get at the end of every year (like cash back on purchases), PLUS the really lenient return policy, they know you have to try some of this before you know it's a good item for you - gotta love the co-op! Note: they recently when bagless, apparently except for the holiday season as I saw they had paper bags for those gift-purchasers this weekend. So, in a non-holiday season, if you plan on grabbing a haul (like I do, apparently), you'll want to bring your own bag(s) or plan to take a few trips to the car! (They will hunt down a bag for you if you need it, or they'll help you to your car!)

We were able to hop in line at the cashier, and make our return in less than 5 minutes. This might not seem like a big deal, but this simple transaction during the holiday hustle and bustle is worth shouting out. We had a paper gift receipt for our return, but you can also use a barcode in the REI app if you're a member of the Co-Op for returns. P.S. If you're not a member of the REI Co-Op, it's well worth it to sign up. It's a one-time $30 fee, and the benefits are great, even if you only shop here once or twice a year. (Free standard shipping forever? That alone is worth $30).
