    Beans & Beignet Sunday brunch.

Beans & Beignet is Iowa's best kept secret! Just few miles away from I-80 in little town of Earlham (please stop at the stop signs). I almost started to cry eating their wonderful food Calm atmosphere, the way of serving, and quality of food set me for another day of traveling.

    Caramel Latte (Hot), Drip coffee

My husband and I visited this nice gem when we saw their sign off I-80. We were looking for a coffee place and like to try non-chain coffee spots. We were not disappointed! The coffee was amazing! The staff was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere of the place was very warm, inviting, and comfortable. This will definitely be a place we visit when driving through!

We were excited to see a cafe like this in Earlham. The area has evolved so much since I grew up in the area and it's great to see their commercial businesses picking up. We had lunch and split an order of beignets. Lunch was okay (a French dip without the au jus, soup, and salads) but nothing special. The beignets were disappointing as we love NOLA and I've made my share of beignets. I'm not sure if it was the batch or the recipe, but these were much closer to sopapillas- good but NOT beignets. They also seemed to struggle with staffing. Lots of grumpy folks and unbussed tables. Hopefully they'll get things sorted!

Nice gem of a place. Hidden in Earlham. I went here specifically for beignets. I had been craving some and determined to find traditional ones I was directed here by a FB group. The place is very welcoming and the lady that greeted us was very nice. We ordered a dozen beignets. 6 traditional with the powdered sugar and 6 with cinnamon sugar. We also got a hot chocolate, which was delicious. The beignets were amazing! They were fresh and warm and crispy and soft and oh so good! They have an ice cream bar which I cannot wait to try. I will indeed be back for more. Until next time!

A perfect new addition to Earlham for coffee, breakfast, lunch, and ice cream - everything you love. The interior is bright and cheerful. There are plenty of seating options from large tables for groups to small tables if you want to sit and work. There is guest wifi available. You order at the counter - large menu boards are on the wall so that it is easy to review. All drinks are customizable with type of milk, flavors, etc. My caramel latte was fantastic. There is a nice variety of breakfast and lunch food available to choose from, and all is very affordable. The fun treat is the beignets - mine were made fresh to order when I arrived. The ice cream bar is around the corner in the connecting building - a nice counter you can eat at and several more tables available as well.

Great idea poorly executed. High schoolers that don't know how to operate the register. Service delivery very slow. Food average.

Absolutely the best beignets no question, ever! The traditional are good but the lemon. Omg. Lovely outdoor service too.

What a surprise! A big city experience in such a small town. The beignets were delicious. Nice ambience.

Gayle and I stopped in today after reading about it within some "48 hours in Ames" article. I ordered a brisket grilled cheese sandwich, while Gayle chose a similar one with blackberry flavoring. We split a can of Guinness off the convenience store fridge, and then sat outside for our street and car wash view. We had nice shade on a not too hot day and took the opportunity to hang out bit after we finished our meal. This was a tasty and pleasant experience of good value overall.

Wow, it is a lot more than a quick breakfast at a gas station! The kitchen was complete and had a full menu offered up. It was also a commercial bakery... multiple bakers working on cinnamon rolls that looked divine! I had a breakfast quesadilla. It had real flavor in it with candied jalapeños. It was a lot but judging from all the plates I saw come out of the kitchen everything there was solid in serving size. The chai latte was good too. And the folks were nice. They definitely have loyal fans locally, folks were ordering for tailgates!

Disappointed to say the least, I came in the back door not realized there was a correct door and was rudely cut off by other patrons at the front desk. I had to wait several minutes to be waited on and the place had plenty of spots. Maybe because I was a party of 1... they didn't seem to care. After I shared what drink I wanted, I learned they were out... fine no problem. I asked about the Thai specials, the waitress was clueless. I had to ask for the restaurant week menu and ask about the specials. She said they looked good but couldn't describe them and hasn't tasted them. I got the salad on special, but get this... they were out of the main restaurant week special... such a let down. The ambiance was mixed, one corner was a cute date night the other corner was crying children. All dimly lit and outdated decor. The whole experience was off, I ended up leaving after my one drink and salad. I hope to give this place a second chance sometime but hope they aren't out of dishes and I can get a trained server. Maybe another night for sure!

The chefs clearly love experimenting, offering a creative fusion of flavors that blend different cuisines beautifully. Whether it's a twist on a classic dish or something completely unexpected, everything is prepared with care and a true sense of innovation. Me and my significant other both ordered the Feta Cheese w/ Honey, Herbs, and Pistachios + Bread as our appetizer and for main dish we ordered Korean Steak & Egg that consist of soy/ginger marinated hanger steak with kimchi fried rice, and arugula with sweet chili aioli, and sunny side egg on top. The only thing I was a bit disappointed was that the kimchi didn't have the actual kick and true kimchi flavor but it was still good! Beyond the food, what really sets The Cafe apart is the warm and attentive customer service. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to make recommendations or accommodate special requests. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a great dining experience for every guest. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious, inventive food with top-notch hospitality, The Cafe is a must-visit. It's one of those rare spots where you'll leave satisfied, and already planning your next visit to see what's new on the menu!
