Ok to start off i will review this place in my traditional style with me commenting on the following
Price, Taste, Ambience/Decor, Surrounding area, employees, and more.
Well to start, I first heard of this place from my buddy who recommended a good coffee place to go to before band practice. He went there many times during his college time spent in Worcester, and so I figure I would give it a shot.
I already could tell it was what i thought it might be which was a mom and pop homemade bakery and coffee shope, which I am SUCKER for. You can see right where they make all there pastries and such which I always respect. I went inside and let me tell you right now the drink menus are HUGEE. There is sooo many drinks to choose from. Coffees, Cappuccinos, Lattes, tea, frozen coffee and fruit drinks, and not to mention the 30 different flavors they have for the lattes and holiday and special coffee flavors they have. They have 4 different sizes to choose from and also a giant box of coffee you can get. I got a small to start. I ordered what they call "Purple Cow", which is a latte with white and milk chocolate flavoring and raspberry. I usually get hesitant on flavored drinks because I have ordered them from other coffee shops and the taste was nasty or fake or just stuck out too much, but this place blends the flavors soo well, that simply put IT JUST WORKS!! I have only been able to try like 5 of the flavors so far, b/c there is so many to choose from. If you are a coffee and sweet drink person, you will love this place. Coffees are pretty cheap around the prices of a Dunkies, but lattes and such are bit pricey, but well worth it. In this case, its the saying, you get what you pay for. Quality!
As far as the bakery part of there service goes.. Amazing!! EVERYTHING is homemade on premises. I have tried pasties, cookies, and the cupcakes, and its all delicious! The cupcakes are the highlights though. They have different flavors every few weeks but have some of the same all the time. I love the white chocolate raspberry and the lemon creme. I will say right now too they are for sure on the expensive side with cupcakes ranging from $2.00 to $4.00, but unlike the cupcake places in Boston I have been too, these cakes are HUGEEEEEEE. Almost too much for me to handle with all the cake and frosting. The other baked goods are less and a better size if you are not into huge though. They have bread as well and also do wedding cakes and 10 or more different pies!! This place has it all and its all homemade and although the price is a bit more then normal chain places, it shows with the quality of the ingredients and taste.
The Decor and feeling has that indie, young, hip and college feel. Has the classiness of a starbucks with drinks, but the indie feel with the things inside this place, and grandmas kitchen with the baked goods. There is a bulletin board for local people to advertise themselves, lots of signs and nice look with the lights inside of this place. Its a bit small and when you first go in,looks like there is only 3 or 4 tables, but around the corner there is 4 more, and enough room for a good amount of people. The only complaint I have is because its a bit smaller, when its crowded its very uncomfy to wait around. I have nothing much more to say here other then it has a hip young feel and hole in the wall style, which I personally love.
The employees there I have mixed feelings for. A few times I have had about 2 of the same person who I enjoyed, because they were helpful and kept a good covo going with me and seemed like they enjoyed the job or even if they didnt, they didnt take it out on anyone. There were a few times though I went in there with others who worked they and seemed so bland and almost seemed disgusted that I even bothered them with my simple order and made the whole experience awkward. Then overheard one of them talkng to a friend who came in and talking about things they shouldn't be on the job in front of customers. You didn have to eavesdrop to hear it, they were loud and didnt care. Sometimes the service is quick, others very slow, but overall the employees and service is friendly and fast, but not the best.
As for the surrounding area. I think its horrible. Easy to find yes, but there is only street parking and its ALWAYS full, so good luck parking anywhere. The only place people can park to even get close enough is the elementary school on the street to the left of the this place a bit of ways down. Other then that, you would have to drive a bit farther down, which is drag. If you park at the school though, you should be fine, unless you dont mind walking.
Overall, this place is HIGHLY WORTH IT! You can not beat the taste and quality. There is no other shop like this place close to Worcester, Marlboro area with this kind of caliber of food, drink and feel/vibe.
