This is a nice neighborhood coffee shop. It's located along a strip of stores and market in front of a church. It must be nice to hang out around here in the summer. There are enough tables, comfortable chairs. Anyone who knows me I love big windows! Plenty of light and sunshine. It's cozy and warm which I find some coffee shops struggle keeping their stores warm enough to be relaxing in the winter. There's plenty of food to snack on or have a full meal. I'll try some next time to see if they are fresh. This was an unexpected find for me. I just moved in the area. Haven't checked their wifi. I've been to nice coffee shops only to realize this is missing. It's a must for me. The day and age we're in it should be tablestakes. There's plenty of street parking. Very very delish coffee and tasty muffins etc. served with a side of sass. Spacious indoor seating and covered outdoor seating. I really like this small cafe and I enjoy the efficient service. Likely you won't get wrapped in a cozy sweater of platitudes, and questioned about your day by your barista, but I like that. The owner is there every day all day and I commend and appreciate his commitment to run an establishment in a low traffic area - especially during this challenging pandemic. Near the Greenway @57th. The location is quaint though a little run down and I was looking forward to a friendly experience as is typical of smaller establishments; however the service was surprisingly gruff at best, the coffee a bit watery, and to add injury to insult, all of the electrical outlets are taped up. When I asked if there were any electrical outlets that I could use for my laptop, I was answered with a brusque and seemingly derisive "no". The barista was so unpleasant and taciturn with everyone though; clearly, when someone that he knows wanders in, a lot of small talk is made, so the behavior is purposeful. Sometimes you wander into a quaint place and you experience a warm and personal experience that only smaller establishments can provide. At other times you are made to feel like you are an outsider. If you go into this place with a laptop and are not one of the regular crowd it seems that you will be treated like you don't belong... not a particularly nice way to enjoy your morning cup of coffee! I would give this establishment one star except that they were not really rude per se- just not pleasant- and I've had even worse coffee before, so it could be worse. read more

The coffee is decent, the treats likewise. The service is weak at best as the owner is not at all friendly, engaging, and seemingly doesn't care if you patronize his place or not. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first few times I visited, but enough already. He's friendly when he knows his customer; everyone else gets a brusque and ambivalent experience. This is an excellent location in a quiet neighbourhood with incredible coffee. If you are looking for a clean and peaceful place to catch up with a friend, or enjoy a cup of the best coffee this is it. The baked goods and sandwiches are made in house daily. With the pandemic going on, regardless of what people choose to believe about it, as a business, you should respect and follow safety guidelines.. the barista, I'm assuming owner, was not wearing a mask and was chatting with other two customers as he was preparing my drink ( and not to be paranoid but he practically was talking holding my cup at an angle where he might as well have spat directly into it ). To be honest I felt I was being way too polite not to call him out on it, and just took my drink...This is my health and safety that he is putting at risk because I chose to give him business. I'm super disappointed at the lack of due diligence and surprised at such ignorance. Hope I don't die. read more

One of the lesser well-decor compared to the rest, but it'll do in this small strip area in south Kerrisdale, it's way off any main street so it's quite tranquil. Service is good & friendly. Free parking. It's a great pit stop for me when I'm in between Richmond and DT, waiting for the next restaurant meeting, I can work here for hours without being hassled, sipping my Mexican organic coffee. Staying at a hotel for the weekend and this was in walking distance. We were happy we found it . :) Very clean, with few patrons conversing on the late Friday morning. A Russian looking fellow was painting in the back corner. I was going to test my three year language skills, but I chickened out. Music playing was Beatle-esque, and my wife and I ordered two drinks, a black drip coffee and the "love cloud" tea. Wife confirmed tea was great and my coffee was lovely. I'm sorry, but there aren't many times when I actually enjoy the Brew I'm drinking. The scone was very moist, and the salami sandwiches were heated and scrumptious. This easily could be rated a five, but I give it a high four. Only one guy behind the counter, very efficient worker, kudos to him. :) read more

The espresso here is excellent -- less sour than other higher end coffee shops, deep and very flavorful. Fairly good selection of gluten-free baked goods. read more

The coffee was great, but this review is mostly because the service was super-helpful and went above and beyond the call-of-duty. There was no smug-barista attitude here and instead the staff offered help on where we should go and what to see in Vancouver. They were really nice people and it was a nice, clean and very professional coffee shop. read more

This space is great. I've been here about a dozen times since it opened. There are plenty of seats and it's nice and bright - great for reading by myself or meeting a few friends for coffee. I love that I have the option of soy milk as well as almond milk for my beverages. They even have gluten free treats :) The staff are always super friendly (even at seven in the morning!) They get your drink made very quickly, so you can even pop in for a caffeine fix on the go. read more

First of all, I could not believe some of the negative, untrue and slanderous crap that some reviewers have reported about this café and I am only glad that some of their screeds have been pulled from this site. I have been a regular here for two years now, or since they opened. I have nothing but praise for this place. First, John and his sister, Anne, I have found to be friendly, kind and genuine and always concerned for the comfort of their patrons. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. It can get very busy on Saturdays. I consider this café my Saturday oasis. I do not live in the area but often take a long hike through Shaughnessy and Kerrisdale and this café is a perfect location for me to relax in one of the comfy chairs in the back sipping an Americano (iced in warm weather), enjoying a cookie or pastry and drawing in my sketch book. A great and relaxing way to pass an hour or two. I enjoy people watching and eavesdropping there as well as having conversations with other friendly patrons. The music is very eclectic though I do wish they would play some Bach or Vivaldi from time to time. John, please ignore the trolls on this site and keep doing what you're doing the way you're doing it 'cause, dude, yer doin' it right! read more

Welcome to your new favourite coffee spot in Vancouver. This particular Bean Around The World is a very Zen-like calm, quiet, relaxing, comfortable, bright space and place in which to enjoy their excellent (superb) coffee drinks, perfect teas, irresistible fresh sandwiches (chicken; brie and tomato; ham and Swiss cheese - all on fresh baguettes), and delicious, healthy (and some sinful!) baked goods. Tall ceilings, spacious and minimally - but attractively - decorated, and spotlessly clean (including the elegant washroom), there are no other places in Vancouver like this specific Bean Around The World. Owner, John, and his team are 20 out of 10, and always have a smile and a kind and often amusing word. Each table has lots of real estate for a casual meeting, getting some laptop work done, an unrushed get together, or simply a caffe solo. In the front bay window, there's a communal table with bench seating and masses of fluffy pillows to lean on, and a selection of the latest magazines and newspapers. Or choose to sit in one of their several outdoor arrangements of Adirondack chairs and tables that are on the extra, extra broad "sidewalk" outside. While you are in the 'hood, check out the gorgeous women's clothing store, "Spill it Sister", just next door, and a great little art gallery/art shop, also one door away. Choices Food Store is in the same little block of charming shops, as is the much-praised Senovia Grill. This little area, historically called "Shannon Station", on West 57th at about Maple Street. offers masses of free parking, and is just a few blocks off the Angus Drive bike route.
