After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. Consistency in the dining experience of a restaurant is something very important. It is something that the restaurant has to earn every time a customer enters through its door. As easily as a restaurant can win a customer over, it can also lose him and his loyalty to the restaurant. Sadly, this is what happened to me during this visit. I had missed having lunch, that day, so I arrived at around 4:30pm to have an early dinner. A gentleman greeted me and had me take a seat at a table of my choice. I went and sat at a booth facing the kitchen. I think it was the same place I sat the first time I ate here with a friend. The same gentleman performed as my server. He came by and asked me what I wanted to drink. I asked him if they had any Mocktails. He answered me that Mocktails are not the drinks that people usually drink there, but that he can have them make one for me at the bar. I described the one I would like to have and right after give him my food order. I ordered a Hunter's Burger, with a fried egg, smoked bacon, and American cheese, among other ingredients. And tater tots to accompany it. After putting in my food order he goes to the bar and comes back with my Mocktail, which was extremely acidic, but he had already walked away before I could tell him. So I stirred it hoping that this would fix it. But as the acidic liquid reached my throat it made me caught and gave me an unpleasant sensation. The server brings me the Hunter's Burger, my main course, with the tater tots. The tater tots are not cooked well. When I try to hook one up with my fork, it just splits in half. The Hunter's Burger bun was not big at all, and the patty was extremely small that you could hardly see it without opening the buns up, and that is what I did and discovered that the egg was not fried evenly but the yolk had been broken while being fried and was not soft. I tried to make the best of the situation and ate the burger with a fork. If all this wasn't enough, the server approached me with something in his hand that I think was my bill and asked me if I wanted something else. I told him that I wanted the Fried Oreo Cookies with the Vanilla Ice-cream. He brings me them with so little ice-cream that it had melted in the middle of the Fried Oreo Cookies. What an awful dining experience this has been compared to last time, which I still remember today. And today's experience, I just want to forget. I hope the owner of this restaurant reads this review and takes a look at my photographs that accompany it, and takes action to remedy it so that this doesn't happen again and tarnish the Image of what I once thought was a great restaurant. read more

Our Air BNB was in the area so we stopped here for dinner. Walking in it's a really cool place. More like modern industrial decor . The bar was very sharp as well as the dining area . We started with buffalo cauliflower which came with a few sauces . I had the classic Beamer burger medium and had a choice of fries or tots . Took the tots. Wife had a chicken avocado sandwich which she said was very tender and filling . My burger was awesome . Prices are modest & plates piled high. We didn't have dessert. It's in the heart of a college town but didn't seem anyone was around the neighborhood being on a Sunday . Wide variety of options on the menu. We weren't drinking but the place has a HUGE beer menu. Actually, ended up visiting Beamer's 25 twice on a recent trip to Roanoke. On our first night we ordered some burgers and fries to-go to enjoy while having some beers at Big Lick Brewing a couple doors down. The burgers hit the spot. They were very juicy and honestly messy, but to me that's usually a sign of a good burger! I got the Numero Uno (gouda, crispy onion rings, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, housemade burger relish). At first, I couldn't really taste the toppings besides lettuce and tomato (as the slice of tomato was quite large), but once I got closer to halfway through all of the other premium toppings started to come through which really enhanced the burgers flavor. So, my suggestion to them would be to put more of the sauces and relish. My husband got the Port Wine Blue Cheese Burger (smoked bacon, blue cheese, port caramelized onions, pear chutney, and garlic aioli). He let me have a bite or two, and I have to admit he won. Both were good, but the flavor combinations of his toppings really popped. They give you a ton of fries, which is cool. I couldn't tackle them all no matter how I tried. You can also upgrade to their specialty fries if you ask. We found ourselves back at Beamer's for our last meal as I wanted to have brunch outside somewhere. It was Easter Sunday so between closings and lack of patios, we were thankful it was open and available. Their patio was nice and prepared for hot and cold weather with open umbrellas to block the sun as well as heaters and a fire pit in case it was cold. They have a smaller brunch menu, but with enough to satisfy all types of brunchers I think. They had an omelet, waffles (with or without meat), avocado toast, sausage gravy, and a traditional breakfast. I got the Omelet with tomato, onion, poblano pepper, and cheddar. It was served with home fries. It was a well-prepared omelet with a good amount of each topping inside. I liked their home fries and appreciated the larger sized ramekin for an adequate amount of ketchup! I decided to complement my meal with a brunch cocktail and settled on their blood orange mimosa. It was delightful, little tart and sweet. My husband got the Chicken and Waffles (crispy chicken, bacon waffle, bourbon maple syrup) which was also served with home fries. He won again; all elements were very good. The bacon in the waffle was subtle but added a nice salty quality and their bourbon maple syrup was yummy. The highlight was the fried chicken though, a good-sized breast with nice and crispy skin on the outside and juicy inside. I would get this dish myself if I find myself at this local chain again for brunch. read more

This is a good spot in downtown Roanoke for a bite, a drink, and a conversation. Located in what appears to be a former warehouse and light manufacturing district, the refurbished building is a great example of a re-purposed urban facility. The upper levels are living quarters, while parts of the lower level are for businesses. This includes Beamer's. This facility is named for the legendary Va Tech football coach, who appears to have a major financial stake in this establishment. When he played at VT, he wore #25...hence, the name. It is part of a restaurant group that includes what appear to be several mid- to higher-end places. My son is a VT grad and fan, so the memorabilia displayed in the restaurant was interesting. We visited on a Saturday night. Finding parking was not trivial, though we managed to find a spot a block-and-a-half away. There appeared to be a parking lot next door, but I'm not sure it was free, at least not all the time. So this is an issue to keep in mind. It was relatively busy when we walked in, in part because of COVID capacity limitations (50% at that time). The hostess did a great job of identifying a good spot for us and getting it cleaned quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. She took good care of us while we were there. The atmosphere was definitely that of a pub. It was nice to be part of a relatively normal social setting. It felt like a real Saturday night. We had had a big lunch so, even though we ate at around 8:30, we were not terribly hungry. I had the Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Avocado Sandwich with Tater Tots (the tots are something for which they're apparently known). This was excellent. My wife had the Wedge Salad, which was fine for her. Our daughter had the Sonoma Salad with grilled chicken, and she was quite happy with this. Our final cost was pretty reasonable. With food, drinks, tax and tip, our final outlay was $46. At just over $15 per person, this was not a bad value. If we are in the area, we will consider stopping again. read more

Really tasty burgers! Their menu offers different burgers for different tastes. We got the southern belle and numero uno. The belle was both of our faves, but we appreciated the light amount of bbq sauce on the uno to not overpower the flavor. This was a good burger dude! Visiting Roanoke, went to Beamer's 25. Menu makes this clearly a burger bar. Have some salads as well and some other sandwiches. They have a patio with fire pits out front and you walk in to a big bar on the left. Raw wood floors make for a nice comfy feeling. Not sure if it was the ceiling decorations but it was pretty loud but not bothersome. I ordered the southern bellle... I love pimento cheese on a burger. This was a ridiculously beautiful burger. The flavor was amazing. Has some fried jalapeños as well but wasn't burning hot. So good! My wife ordered the pulled pork burger and heads up... it's a burger with pulled pork on it! I did steal a bite of the pork... crazy tender and smoky with a nice sweet sauce on it. She said the burger was wonderful and she couldn't eat it all. Our waitress was ok. They weren't crazy busy for a Friday night but she seemed to struggle keeping our drinks full. She was at one point cleaning the bathroom which probably detracted her from keeping the tables well. We came for lunch and got lucky because there was parking which is why the one star lose. For the portion size and price and service this place only makes sense if you get your parking for free. That being said, the food was delicious and our waitress was a little slow at first refilling drinks until she realized that I drink fast and a lot. I had a salad with blackened grilled chicken which had a good taste but for the price the portion could have been larger. My lunch companion had a pizza that was very tasty and I loved the thin crisp crust. All in all it was a good experience with tasty food but the wait staff need to pay more attention to the patrons and less time socializing with each other. read more

Came here after a hike for lunch and we're not disappointed. Their salads are MASSIVE, delicious, and inexpensive. Realistically it's 3.5 stars but I rounded up (+) service (+) price (+) outdoor space; pet friendly (+) area, decor & vibe (+) fun drink menu (-) food so the tagline is beer, bourbon, burgers. They did a good job on 2 of them (drinks were good, not great), but butchered the burgers (in a bad way). So since the joint is named after a football dude, I'd say it like this. Decent but not exciting offense, workman like defense, and awful special teams. Does that win games? Maybe, depends on the competition. That's how I would frame it as I don't know the area well. But it's not going to work on the national stage against ranked teams. I think expectations were a bit too high, and just was not impressed with the burger. I sent a photo to my brother and he said "that looks like a Costco frozen burger" and I think that was a good way to put it. I can't tell if it was bad or just disappointing relative to my expectations. Other food was pretty standard fare, more bar food and less gastropub. Service was great, and overall a good time. This was my second visit to Beamer's. We happened to be in town over the weekend and stopped in for a late lunch. This visit did not disappoint! We were seated quickly and were greeted by our server. He was very attentive without being too much. We ordered our beverages and our food. There were so many good choices; it took us a while to decide. I chose the Stevo Burger, which was my first time trying a burger with a sunny side up egg. Other entrees ordered were the bowl of chili, the portobello mushroom sandwich and the Spicy Thai Chopped Salad. We also ordered a large portion of tater tots. Our food arrived quickly and we all dug in! My Everything was delicious. My burger was cooked medium rare and it was perfect. Really good flavors with all of the toppings and the egg was amazing on the burger! Everyone enjoyed their food and everything was tasty. Overall we had a good experience here while on an overnight trip in Roanoke. I loved the atmosphere, live music, and food. But when we first arrived there was no one at the host stand, nor a sign to seat ourselves. We lingered there a good five minutes, making eye contact with servers/staff, yet no one came to assist us. Finally my husband approached a server who was setting up tables to see if we were supposed to seat ourselves. She came over to us and seated us. Service was a bit slow so I'm wondering if they were simply short staffed that night. We also had two kids with us and had to ask for a kids menu, though we were glad that they had one. Our server was very pleasant and we enjoyed the food. My husband and a split the Southern Belle burger and a Sonoma salad with blackened chicken. The burger was SO delish and the salad was great too. We stopped in to Beamer's 25 at around 4PM, when we arrived the restaurant was empty but the atmosphere was very welcoming. We were greeted and sat immediately! The service was amazing. The food was great. I built my own burger and it was great. The tots were wonderfully salted. The other person in my party decided to try the buffalo chicken salad and though I did not try it it looked quite tasty. We also decided to get the fried pickles, the house made ranch was wonderful. Because my husband was so impressed with the whiskey/scotch selection AND really enjoyed his selections, automatic 5 stars! I also enjoyed my glass of pinot noir, so much that I dumped it all over myself. Now I can smell like what I love to drink. And of course there was food. I ordered a side salad and a pizza called What's the Dill which is a very white pizza (ranch, mozzarella, grilled chicken) with dill pickle slices. Tasty! We stopped in at Beamer's 25 to grab a bite to eat with our dog. We were grateful for the beautiful patio. Service was great. We ordered the port wine blue cheese burger and the Stevo. We upgraded to the sweet potato fries which were perfectly cooked and delicious. We both agreed that the fixings on the burger were wonderful - but that's where the flavor ended. The actual burger itself was quite disappointing. It just tasted greasy. Unfortunately, we also received medium well burgers when we ordered medium rare. It wasn't worth waiting for new because we needed to get on the road. All in all, I would say if its nice weather, try out an app or two on the patio. read more

Bar was impressive, but the food was just ok. In a time of gastropubs I guess I expected more from a place named after legend in this area. Decor was cool and the staff was really nice. I wish I knew the name if the hostess, but she let me borrow her reading glasses to pick a bourbon to order. That was much appreciated. Great lunch at beamers. The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations for what to eat. Started with a brown sugar brown ale and appetizer of deviled eggs. I would not have thought that the sweetness of the ale and the eggs would compliment each other so nicely. My main was hunter's burger which was cooked to perfection and the sunny side up egg was just right to allow the yolk to drench the whole burger. Sometimes they are on their game, but when they are off they are off. A nice place to sit outside when weather permits, sitting inside can be hard to hear if anyone has a hearing challenge. The pizza selections are nice and a flavorful crust. There are several burgers and all are tasty. They also have tater tots! There is street parking and a paid parking close by, on busy nights it might be a challenge. They do have a rent bike station close by if not wanting to worry with the parking. read more
