I have been going to the Best Friends for many years now. I have boarded my dog when she was…read moreyounger here, but now that my dog is over 18 1/2 years old, I don't board her at any kennel. I do make use of the grooming services, and they are top notch at this. Kathryn is my groomer, and I try to not go to anyone else. Very important to note, you must have a relationship with a Vet professional that dispenses vaccinations for your pet. Best Friends are anal about this matter. So, make sure you're up to date on that part of your pet's health. Usually the vet will print out the vaccination status for them. Then you just bring it with you, and they will update their records on their end. Easy peasy. They have so many things that they do, and I only use a small tidbit of their services. But I'm satisfied enough to recommend them to you. My dog, Abby, loves Kathryn, so I'm sold on Best Friends.

Just wanted to add that after I left this review and sent a bunch of e-mails to people higher up in…read moretheir org, I received a call from the "manager" who was based out of North Carolina. She was very nice, a "good listener", and repediatly told me that she was horrified by what I was reporting to her. At the end of our conversation she told me that she would "take my input into consideration". After it came to light that my dogs were straight up neglected while in their care, I was a bit shocked that she didn't up front offer a refund for the entire boarding stay. I stewed on it for several days, wrote another e-mail to their general corporate e-mail, and without anyone ever contacting me, they refunded my credit card and took me off of all of their mailing lists!!!! The people who run this kennel are horrible, and it is a terribly run business. I made the mistake of giving her a heads up that I was going to call animal control and report them to the state, so I'm sure they temporarily cleaned the place up so they wouldn't be caught off guard. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS, DO NOT BOARD HERE!!!

Maybe the problem lies in their definition of a "walk" and mine. I asked that the daily 30 minute activity be a walk, which they charge $25.00 for. If my dog doesn't have at least one "walk" per day, his digestive system shuts down. I walk him 3 miles per day to keep him regular, but expected at least one walk, on leash, to minimize the affects on him. I also expected a stress response but when they sent me a picture of him on day 2, I knew he was in trouble. Joe, the GM, called me after I sent an email discussing my disappointment and we had a productive conversation, and I had decided not to do this review. But then Robin, the owner called, to justify that they did nothing wrong and actually tried to blame it on my dog. That changed it for me. I'm sure if you have a dog with no special needs that they are fine, but beware if you have a dog that isn't normal. Make sure you talk to Joe so he understands what you expect from the visit and you may have a better outcome than mine.

I found the drop off very transactional and not warm at all. This was our dog's first time every staying away from family or friends. I never saw any photos of him online just one the day before pick up. Due to timing we have to have a friend of our pick up our dog as we would not make it back in time from vacation that day. later that day he was not the same dog I dropped off. Who is normally very spirited and happy. He was lethargic, coughing, sneezing and had mucus discharge from his nose. He was also very dirty and parts of his coat had matted. We take him to the groomers monthly and I brush him at least once a week. I called the vet and they said to bring him in the next day. Which I did and was told that he definitely contracted something while at the resort. So he went on antibiotics for 14 days. In about 3-4 days he was feeling much better. I called and ended up speaking to the Joe the generla manager who was very nice and apologic. He said he would review the footage to see he he saw anything and told me that I could come in to view it as well. I thanked him but did not take him up on the offer. I pretty much wanted to inform him of our experience. Joe informed me that we were covered up to $500 for medical expenses which was great. I sent the receipt from the vet and in about a week and a half I had a check covering the cost. Thank you Joe for your help. It was truly appreciated.

Julie Ann comes every day to walk my dog every day for 30 minutes. They use an application where they show you the route of every walk, if the dog peed or pooped, and if fresh water was given with a short summary of what happened during the visit. Julie Ann even alerts me to things like when the sun room in the back of my house was getting too hot for my cat (and things of that nature) when she comes to walk my dog. I can tell she treats my pets as if they were her own. And I really appreciate that, and that's hard to find. I leave everyday for work feeling good that I know my fur babies will be under good care. I am so grateful for Jessica, the business owner as well. She is so professional. She emailed me a month in for a check in asking for feedback if anything could be better. What a stellar business. Angelo saved our dog's life -- and I mean that in the most literal sense possible…read more Oliver is a rescue who had been surrendered by two families before us. We took him in, loved him, and still found ourselves in crisis -- biting, aggression, resource guarding. We were scared of our dog and desperate for help. Oliver was our fifth dog and as a family we were seasoned users of positive reinforcement as the primary training method. We turned to Angelo at Art of K9 and made the decision to board Oliver for 8 weeks. He took on Oliver after a thorough consultation. Angelo worked through Oliver's aggression and resource guarding using the e-collar and other training tools. These methods gave us the ability to communicate with and control our dog in a way positive reinforcement couldn't. The transformation is hard to put into words. Oliver is now relaxed, cuddly, and genuinely at peace. He still has his moments -- but now we have the tools to handle them. This has changed everything. If you have a dog with serious aggression or resource guarding and you're at your breaking point, I highly recommend Angelo. He didn't just train Oliver -- he saved his life and we are so thankful.

We sent our dog Monsi to Angelo- originally because of socialization problems, yet she surprised us…read moreand came out with so many higher level qualities we didn't anticipate or know was possible. At first, we second guessed our choice to leave Monsi for 6-weeks because we missed her. Every time we checked in with Angelo, he updated us, but we missed our fur baby so much. Now, afterwards, I can't stop recommending this program to everyone I know. It's a worthwhile investment IF you plan to KEEP UP with it. All of Angelo's work can easily be undone with dog owners that do not upkeep the foundation he creates. Currently our dog listens to each command after one time saying it, she is walking off leash behind us, does not lurk around the table while we eat or cook, stays in place for 2-hours and counting, and more. Overall, she has many service dog qualities. I need to give credit where it is due because our dog was unsure of herself, very anxious, annoying at times because she didn't know what to do during quiet hours at home and needed way too much physical exercise (4+ hours daily). He taught us, and our dog Monsi, that exercise and socialization looks different than we thought. Monsi is the dog we dreamed of and didn't know how to achieve. He tapped into her potential. She does not impede our life in anyway. She adds on to the quality and is stress free now that we know how to maintain and handle her. Not only that, but my parents sent their dog at the same time as our dog. So now we have two dogs that listen to the same command. We can bring our dogs on vacation and have complete calm and fun with them present. This was the greatest gift to a life of joy with a well trained fur family member! Thank you Angelo and Art of K9. I know picking a program at such a cost is nerve recking since there is not enough information or proof online but promise me, this is the place. We put a lot of trust into prior reviews and tiktok/Instagram videos.... We got lucky finding this place. It's a hidden gem of Westchester. If anyone needs more details to convince you this program is worth it, contact me. I'll convince you- haha!
