    View is outstanding!

Great place for drinks and sunset views. It can be a bit hard to find a spot to sit though because it is pretty small. Hang out till something opens up. Good piano entertainment, wonderful view and good drinks.

Annual mom/daughter trip to Traverse City wouldn't be complete w/o a evening out at the Top of the Park Beacon Lounge!

Also referred to as Top of the Park, the Beacon Lounge is located on the 10th floor (or the top) of the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City. It is small and intimate and provides sweeping views of the city and the bay. It's a yearly tradition for my mom and I to come in on Tuesday nights when they feature their extensive martini menu at 1/2 price. That's right Tuesday nights are 1/2 price martini night! The place fills up fast and only seats around 40 people. They open at 5pm and close at midnight. My favorite martini's are right here. The Silvertrain has Tanqueray, Absolute, dry vermouth, and blue cheese stuffed olives. After 1 you will definitely feel it. Very generous pours and a large variety of martini flavors. The best martini's are right here. Wish I didn't live 2300 miles away!

Had the appetizer trio....was probably the worst food we had in all of Traverse City. Drinks were just ok. Nice view of the lake.

When we called him out for being homophobic, his response was, "So what if I am?" Afterward, the bartender, Jason, was hugging and fist-bumping this same person. Jason then approached us and said there was nothing he could do because "they're regulars, so what can I do?" refusing to move them away from us or cut off the clearly drunk and belligerent man. Instead, he became aggressive when we expressed how upset we were about the situation. Jason later doubled down. When we told him that the safety of the patrons should matter, his response was, "Then you should go dine somewhere else." So please, please listen to him. Do not come here. The food is mid anyway, so you're not missing anything.

We sat at the bar which was staffed by two very efficient bartenders who did it all. It was nice to be able to see right through to the kitchen from the bar. Really enjoyed the mussel special (not sure if this is always on the menu). The prosciutto fig salad was quite good too but a very small serving size for two people to share as an appetizer. The crostini served with the burrata was very tasty and crispy. The best dish was the fettuccine which has pork ragu and fresh parmesan. This was recommended by our server and it did not disappoint. I only wish there were just a couple more noodles because the amount of meat was very generous. If you're deciding between here and the other Italian place also at the Commons (I don't think I can say it by name) I would actually recommend PepeNero's over that one!!!!

The restaurant is beautiful inside we were seated in a very private area in the back of the restaurant making for a fantastic space for conversation. The service was impeccable, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and did a fantastic job managing our party of 8. The food was excellent I can't stop thinking about the steak tartar and the amazing plating and presentation. The pasta dishes were perfectly al dente and so rich in flavor. I would highly recommend making this a go to location for any special occasion you will not be disappointed.
