My boyfriend took me here because it was a restaurant that he used to frequent when he was in the military. Unfortunately, he was disappointed because, according to him, it wasn't the same anymore. We were seated immediately when we came into the restaurant. They had many artworks on the wall that you could purchase. They also had a nice rear patio if the weather is nice enough. He ordered the calamari, and even I could agree that it was disappointing because it was very chewy, and the sweet sauce they had on it was not a good combination. I had to squirt some lemons on it to balance the taste, and it was still not a good balance because it was too sweet. We both ordered the Beach Fire Cheeseburger. The fries were frozen, and they definitely tasted frozen, which was probably also the case for the calamari. We both finished half of our burger. They were okay. Stopped here on "taco Tuesday" where they have a special food and drink menu...sat outside on the front "porch" area that must be a byproduct of Covid...it was nice, great night with a slight breeze...service was very good, she took our drink orders and returned a few minutes later when we ordered food...the tacos are small street style and you get two for the $7, we ordered two of the ahi tuna and one each of the fish and carne asada...the tacos are served by themselves with no sides so if you are really hungry you may want to go in a different direction...the ahi were the best imo, nice chunks of tuna and a somewhat spicy dressing...the fish and asada were also very good but not as filling as the ahi....the Mexican beers were $5 today as well so à corona was in order....other drink specials were the margarita for $9 or $10 depending on the style...my son was still hungry after the tacos so he ordered a small clam chowder which he really liked....the full menu is also available but happy hour does not take place on Tuesday's....all in all a good experience, nice to sit outdoors and eat and San Clemente is a nice small town without a lot of drama...would return again in future, RECOMMEND read more

The food was fine and the staff were very friendly. The fish and chips were super thick breading so not as enjoyable. Don't love baby shrimp in the tacos - not a ton of flavor. But overall ok. The biggest issue was our friend is GF (super intolerant) so we made that clear in the beginning, asked a bunch of questions about the menu and she selected the pork sliders (no bun). Easy mistake that it came with the bun but to have non-GF breaded/fried onions on top is NOT acceptable. Thankfully, she doesn't have to worry about cross contamination but it was annoying (and could be dangerous for someone else). If your menu lists GF - the entire order MUST be GF, please. read more

We had reservations and got a table quickly, however we had to wait 30 minutes until the waiter took our order (he was pretty busy and they must've been understaffed for a Saturday evening). I ordered a pineapple express martini and asked to exchange it because it was too dry for me, and the waiter was happy to exchange it (I got a mango margarita which was much better, for my taste). We enjoyed the food very much. Everything came out hot and delicious. My girlfriend and our kids took the trolley down to the beach and on the way back up we decided to try out Beachfire. These times are crazy right now especially for us POC and I am always extra wary when I go out now. The ambiance felt like a total relaxing vacation. I felt like I was dining on the sand. The reggae playing was hitting. The food was very good we started with Calamari which was yummy. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad and it came out just how I like it flavorful and loaded. My girlfriend ordered their chipotle chicken pasta and it was also very tasty and not so heavy on the cream which I personally love. My daughter ate the kids quesadilla which was loaded with cheese and was very big Zoe was a huge fan! My friends daughter ordered the clam chowder which I didn't get to try.I'm a new mom so taking my 19 month old out to restaurants is so nerve wrecking but their outdoor dining deck saved the day. Here is the best part though, our waitress was amazing! Leah if you're reading this THANK YOU! Your customer service skills are top tier I'm a customer service expert myself and I can tell when someone is acting and when they're genuine. You are the real deal! Not many places are open late on a Sunday night in San Clemente, but Beachfire was. Drinks were reasonably priced (not cheap, but not overpriced). The Beachfire Island Plate was good. A mix of beef and shrimp, cooked perfectly (very often, these two proteins are overcooked). The crispy calamari was good but came smothered in a sweet chili sauce, which killed the crunch. Better to serve the sauce on the side and let the calamari stay crispy. At $19, the portion was also a bit small. Staff was polite even with the place nearly empty. What first stood out is the cozy wooden Polynesian vibes. I came here because a friend invited me to see a local band play (Sticks & Stones). This place started off a little mellow with a large Boomer crowd and over the course of the night the Gen Z'ers were filling this place up! My husband and I felt like we were the only Millenials representin'! Anyways, they have plenty of seating to choose from; a patio right on Del Mar, the bottom level/bar area and upstairs which I didn't get a chance to check out. We were hungry so we shared a poke bowl and sliders. The poke bowl was a little plain but the sliders were good. My husband went out on a limb and ordered a Negroni, not expecting it to be that fancy but he was pleasantly surprised they served it on a large whiskey cube as it should be. I found this restaurant on Yelp, I am a little familiar with San Clemente. It is a nice city to visit, shop and dine. The shops and restaurants are not "big" chain stores, but rather, nice boutiques and owner-occupied businesses. Beachfire is open 7 days a week and have it all! Happy Hour specials Monday thru Friday; entertainment like karaoke (Monday) Taco Tuesday, and live bands on the weekends. The service was impeccable, Nick has been the bartender for over 20 years. He came out to greet us on the patio and take our order. Most bartenders stay back, but he was out in the patio "multi-tasking" and greeting customers. Edgar came by to check on us, I thought he was the server or maybe the manager. He is actually one of the owners. He asked where we were from and welcomed us. We ordered an Ahi Tuna sandwich and a chicken habenero flatbread. The sandwich had a generous portion of tuna and seasoned perfectly, topped with avocado. It was plated perfectly $19. The flatbread was delicious, the chicken was grilled, the spice level was medium. It had red onions and pineapple bits and a drizzle of Ranch dressing that added a nice and tasty sweetness $15. The restaurant has an upstairs level, a patio in front, and another outdoor patio at the rear entrance. This is a casual place, but not fast food, they actually service quality food with fresh veggies. Every time I come to San Clemente, it has been a wonderful experience.
