Barnoa is amazing. The food is so good. We've tried several items but recently my wife had the stuffed Squash with chicken. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I had the pastrami sandwich on pretzel bread. It was cooked to perfection. Wine options are vast and all choices are on point! Highly recommended. Other dishes I recommend are the BBQ quesadilla, Margarita Pizza, Deviled eggs and so much more. Service is amazing and live music makes it even better. read more

Only my second time here. We sat at a high top table and ordered a bottle of Kathryn Hall Cabernet and a margharita flatbread. The flatbread was disappointing; I couldn't discern anything but cheese on it and the bread itself seemed to be of the frozen, pre-made variety. The wine was unmemorable but priced fairly. Points for service and ambiance but overall an unsatisfactory experience. I'll try it again and in more depth down the road. read more

Menu is nice but the food does not seem fresh and food prep not clean. Seemed as if some of the food was reheated on multiple occasions. Had a bite of dirt in my salad and was sick twice after eating here. Sadly will not return since we did enjoy going to Barnoa occasionally Lettuce or any salad greens need to be rinsed and cleaned. Husband brought me here for my big 4-0 birthday dinner. This is a cute little place tucked away in a small shopping center in an inland area of San Clemente that I never even knew existed. We chose to sit on the patio since the weather was really nice. I felt the service was a bit slow, but we were the only ones outside, so maybe they kept forgetting we were out there. It was fine though, we weren't in a rush. We started with the Burrata Crostini and it was fantastic! The balsamic glaze gave it that extra kick that took it from average to great. You are served five large pieces of bread, we took two home. For dinner he had their Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms. Six mushroom caps filled to the brim with sausage, veggies, and cheeses, baked to perfection and topped with sauce, I think it was hollandaise? They were DELISH. I had their flat iron steak, which comes with chimichurri on top, and a mixture of creamed corn, spinach, onions and roasted chiles on the bottom. WOW. I asked for it medium rare and it was spot on. The portion of steak was much bigger than I had expected. This was one of the best cuts of meat I have had in awhile, and this isn't even a steakhouse! We were too full for dessert, even though their offerings sounded great. I loved the wines I had, especially the Pinot that was recommended by the waitress. He was happy with the two beers he had. We aren't in this area too often, but I will definitely come back here next time we are! read more

Played a round of golf in San Clemente and just stopped in at this super fun wine bar... Stumbled inside on a Thursday night. We were so pleased with the atmosphere, there was live music playing which was so refreshing and so nice. Wonderful selection of wines... The service is attentive and friendly; we have overstayed past closing time a few times and the staff puts up with us with a smile! The food is wonderful; favorite appetizers include the Brie fondue and charcuterie board with fresh bread, salads are tasty and the salmon with risotto is perfect. Barnoa has been a fun spot to visit for many years and the live music is entertaining, but can get loud inside. Great happy hour spot! We sat outside with a heat lamp and it was really cozy. Lot of tasty items to choose from but we got the bbq chicken quesadilla, the cheese board, deviled eggs, & the nutty goat (not a happy hour item but so worth getting) and a couple bottles of wine. I've been to this bar numerous times, but it's always iffy on the service and on the food. I've probably made my last visit here. First I ordered a hamburger very very rare, I call it living, and it came medium at best. One of the reasons is that the waitress, who is the bartender, never really went back to check on it. I had to call her away from her phone to ask her to go back to the kitchen to find out what it happened with the food because I know the way I order a burger only takes a few minutes. That was the first indication that something was going to be wrong. Instead of checking back to see how the food was. The bartender proceeded to talk to a couple endlessly for the next 20 minutes never really looking around the bar to see if anybody needed anything, and seemed to be waiting to be called. When I did finally want the check, which I tried to get for about five minutes, it was almost like I was interrupting her conversation because I had to actually call her from a couple feet away, rather than just holding up my card as I have been doing in an attempt not to be rude, She' never looked around, she just continued talking. I also object to the fact that this particular bar serves soft drinks in cans, which means you never get a refill or you have to order another soft drink. Finally, this bar suffers from exactly the same problem that plagues California which you don't find in the Midwest or even on the East Coast. The problem is that, they shut off the kitchen to customers who have entered the establishment before the kitchen closes, and are not given time to really look over the menu to order. It is one thing to tell people to enter the restaurant after the kitchen has closed of that fact. It is another thing to allow people to walk in two or three minutes before the kitchen was to close and tell them they only have a minute or two to order. once in the restaurant during the time that the kitchen is open, customers should be given the opportunity to take their time and order whether it's an appetizer dessert or the entrée. I have criticized this particular practice numerous times but obviously it does no good. And further, no one can say that I don't know what I'm talking about since prior to law school. I ran major restaurants and at least three areas of the country. All in all I've stopped recommending this place and in all likelihood, I just won't go there anymore. It's too annoying. read more

Such a great little wine bar by Talega in San Clemente. My husband and I went there for brunch today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.The lox on avocado toast was delicious. Plenty of great wine choices - we had the Cambria Chardonnay. From Santa Barbara. They even offer up wine education classes. Very quiet, great service with inside or outside dining. We went to Barnoa for the first time ever this evening even though it has been around. We thought it only served small/cheese plates. We were wowed by the warm service, really well made food (highly recommend the Bbq quesadilla and the Skirt steak), chill and cozy vibe. It is dog friendly in the outdoor patio to boot! So glad we decided to try out Barnoa. It truly is a special place that is more than just a wine bar or a restaurant. It is a place with a sense of community (they also have a wine club and host many events...), and Talega is lucky to have it. read more

If you are looking for a classy bar, this place hits the spot. I was surprised to see how crowded it early Friday evening. Interior is a old wine bar, reminded me of those Napa bars. There are bar and table seatings, if it's pretty crowded hard to find a spot, parking lot is small along with other shops, but doable since there's multiple plaza parking lots near by. Drink choices are vast, they have many wines and beer by glass or bottle, couple of rotating beer on draft. They also do happy hour 3-6PM for draft beer $6~ I had the Mikeller Hazy IPA, seasonal rotating draft. The beer was perfectly hazy with a good bite of hop, any hazy IPA lover would like this. Service can be a bit slow during rush hour, but defiantly a great bar for social outings. read more

I was a for sure fan of Barnoa! They were wall to wall packed when I arrived at 7:30pm. We got lucky and 2 spots opened up at the bar, but we had 4 people, so we kept alternating chairs. I highly recommend you make a reservation, especially if you are going on live music night, or wine tasting night. Service was good even with them being so packed! Wine: -Ordered the Riesling and Rose ($10/glass) . Both were yummy! I was wondering why we were the only people in the place with stemless wine glasses. Maybe they ran out? -Had Noble Ale Works brew! So exited that they had this! Food: -Burrata Crostini $10- incredible. Must order!!! We ordered two they were so good. -Hummus plate $10- very good. Lots of pita bread, comes with carrots and cucumbers and two kinds of humus (regular and roasted red pepper). -Brussels sprouts- good. Could use extra glaze next time.
