I hired beachfireguy.com as a small component of my 11 year old's birthday party on Mission Bay Park's De Anza Cove gazebo area. This party was 4-7:00 PM mid-November and my thought was to have a warm place for the kids' parents/grandparents to sit and chat while the kids played. And that is was! It provided a lovely and far quieter atmosphere apart from the wild games that the kids were playing. (Gamez on Wheelz party truck/Rockband/Laser Tag, and double barrel Mini-marshmallow wars...) This company was really low-key and awesome to work with. WILL DEF USE THEM AGAIN!!! I wanted the fire on a grass area (nowhere near the sand) and they did absolutely everything aside from asking me where to set up; and dumping water to extinguish the embers at the end... which turned out to be a god-send actually because as it would happen apparently kids LOVE dumping water on a bonfire... Who knew??? In fact my 11 year old birthday girl said her two favorite activities of the party were the laser tag and putting water on the bonfire... and my 9 year old daughter said her two favorite activities were Rockband drums and.... you guessed it, putting water on the bonfire! Its kinda like when you buy a grip of cat toys and the cat is only enthralled with the paper bag they came in... LOL!!! I always deck out all my kiddie parties in red. This is a wonderful business concept and extremely helpful for someone like me who wanted to set up a Bonfire on my fiancés bday. The set up was so nice right on the beach at mission bay with the best view-so relaxing, secluded and romantic. They set us up with chairs, torches and a fire pit with enough wood to last for at least 3 hours. We purchased their S'mores package which was more than enough for 2 people. We brought our own snacks but the s'mores really made the experience feel like the ultimate bonfire. I was impressed with their prompt response. They do book pretty quickly so expect to book something a week in advance especially if you're looking for a weekend. read more

My friend is leaving the country and one of the things she requested before she leaves was a bonfire at the beach. I was determined to make it happen however I did NOT want to spend the entire day at the beach to try get a pit, in fact I dreaded that idea. As I was searching for bonfire rules, I came across the Beach Fire Guy and I am so GLAD I did. Just as everyone has said, Josh and crew are awesome! Very friendly and professional to work with. Josh answered all my questions and gave me some suggestions as to where to go when I asked. The day of the bonfire I received a confirmation call (from Robby) a couple hours before our scheduled set up time and at the end of the evening I just sent a text when we were close to leaving to let them know. Everything was so easy and smooth. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. We ended up having a bonfire at Mission Beach, near Belmont Park and we were able to see the Sea World fireworks so that was a nice little bonus. A little extra bonus for the Beach Fire Guy is soon after our bonfire was set up, there was a beach goer that asked me about it so I gave them the phone number and the beach fire guy was able to set up them up as well. This was perfect beach Bon fire experience. Jason helped make our night before our wedding rememberable for our whole party. Everything was set up when we got there. we didn't have problems with parking. We were even able to bring our dog on the beach. I was not from San Diego so I asked him where was the best area to see the sea world fireworks. No response. So I looked up the map, got the address then sent him the information and a timing. Ruined our rehearsal dinner! We had hired them to come and set up three fire pits for our rehearsal dinner/bonfire. They told us we didn't need a deposit and that everything was set and they would be there at 4:30pm to set up. They did now show up at 4:30, and as the time ticked by and guests waited for the bonfire, we repeatedly tried calling them and we're not able to reach them. They NEVER showed up and completely ruined the rehearsal dinner. I am so disappointed in their service and would never recommend them. Needless to say, they are very unprofessional, and I bet the reason they don't require a deposit is so they can flake out whenever they just don't feel like working. read more

So I've heard about this type of service but we never actually used it. Friday I told my Husband I wanted to have a bonfire on Saturday.. I called the 'beach fire guy' and he said he was free on Sat night. My husband though it was a complete waste of money at the time. He couldn't wrap him mind around why we would pay to have someone start a fire for us I tried to convince him that we don't have a truck, we would have to pick up and purchase wood, with all the fixings, buy tikis, set everything up, break everything down, etc etc.. To me, sounded more like a headache. So he gave in and said let's do it. I really didn't know what location would be ideal and he recommended the perfect spot south of the roller coaster right off the boardwalk. Once we arrived, it was clear why he recommend this area because it was convenient for him to drop his deliver, nonetheless, it was the most perfect spot for us! Convenient location for our friends and family and we saw the sunset, the roller coaster and parking was near. We ordered 3 tiki torches, a table and two fire pits.. Total: 170ish.. we walked up to the area he staged and it was like out of a movie, it was so beautiful.. My husband was amazed! He had it set up before we arrived and called to let us know he was onto his next job but it was ready. He said he would come back and light them for us but because it was just so perfect, we told him to go about his night and we asked our beach neighbors to borrow a lighter. If you looking for a stress free bonfire, go with The Beach Fire Guy, you won't regret it. read more

Are you kidding me?? A hundred bucks for this guy to set three pieces of logs next to an old rusty big lots fire ring. Wood definitely did NOT last three hours like he said. I had to leave and go buy lighter fluid and more wood. Do yourself a favor, go buy a fire ring and 6 cords of wood for $75 total and save that extra $25 and get yourself a few margaritas. Or give me a call and ill set it up for 50 bucks and I will light it and make sure you have enough wood to actually last the amount of time advertised. Shoot, ill even drink a cold one with you. Man these guys are great! We called on a Friday around noon wanting the S'mores package. They responded with in the hour and told us they could accommodate us for that evening. Sweeeeett! The only thing was the location we were at did not allow for commercial set-ups. They still delivered all the goods and explained the very easy set-up. We managed without any issues at all. They even left us with extra wood at no charge!! When we were done we texted for clean up and that was that. So easy! Such a cool idea and great customer service. Thanks guys!! read more

We tried for well over 3 days to set up an fire and nothing but headaches. My girlfriend finally got an answer, and then we thought we were set to go. The owner stopped answering our call and text. When he finally answered , which was well after our start time, he said he made a mistake and to give him 10 minutes. 1 hour later we received a phone call and told we would have to another hour . Overall terrible experience and the owner just didn't do his job. We understand mistakes happen but when you don't even answer a call or text, there is a problem. Called for same day Sunset Shindig service and everything was perfect. Bryce came out and set us up for the evening with chairs, tiki torches and s'mores in Crown Point. Would have had the perfect view of the Sea World fireworks but they don't set-off on Fridays in mid-August. Definitely do this again! So great to walk in/walk out and not have to worry about setting up or breakdown. Just sent Bryce a text 20 min before we left and we were done. So convenient!! Thanks!!! read more

They failed to deliver what they said. We bought the highest package at $130 which said 3-4 hours of fire time. Our wood only lasted 1.5 hrs. Upon calling "Kenny", the guy who setup the fire, he said he would deliver more. He never showed so we called the main company number. They said "Kenny is unreliable" and that was it. 45 mins later after the fire was down to a coal Kenny showed up with 20 minutes worth of wood. It was terrible customer service and I would highly recommend going elsewhere if you can. The experience was cool for the first 1.5 hrs BUT if you can find another company to provide the fire I would HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere. OR at a minimum say you want someone other than "Kenny" to setup the fire and bring you wood. read more

I've used Josh with Beach Fire Guy now at least 3 times. Every time is a great experience. Our family and friends love to do bon fires but we hate the set up and clean up. The great thing with Josh is that they set everything up for you, even a smores pack with matches and marshmallows and then after your done you just send Josh a text and he comes by and cleans everything up. Hired Beach Fire Guy yesterday. I rarely write reviews and when I do I'm not usually this effusive. It was a WONDERFUL evening. First, Richard who planned everything was on top of things. He listened to me and was genuinely interested in understanding the occasion and what I envisioned. He delivered. He even returned my texts on a Sunday and helped me find the right beach. Then Sean was responsible for setting up our area. Everything was set up when I got there. This was important because it was a surprise for my significant other, although he had quite a few fires to set up around the same time. He also checked on us later to see if everything was o.k. I haven't enjoyed myself that much in a long time.....especially with the shutdown. The beach allowed us to social distance. Price was right too! Sail Bay was a perfect location for a romantic evening. I can't wait to use Beach Fire Guy again. Unconditional recommendation! read more

No response except for an auto reply with a phone number. I called and left two messages on voicemail. Nothing. A friend called and left a message. Nothing. Josh was very helpful on the phone and email when I had questions and even when I had to reschedule. Robbie was our attendant that night and he got there early to set up.
