A must experience to create with family & friends. There is nothing like seating around safe fire on the beach, looking at moon on the ocean. James who showed up to clean up took such pride working for this company. I thought he was the owner. The customer service is awesome & their equipments are all new! I can't wait to come back over & over! read more

It started off so nice! 2 stars for a good idea. And as I stand here in confusion of what I actually paid for, while desperately trying to call Rich and Shane of Beach Fire Guy who have stopped picking up my calls after I gave them cash. When we reserved our Beach Fire experience, we said we'd be coming with 20 people. We were told only 15 people would have Smores, but for an extra charge we'd get enough extra. Here starts the focus on money only. Ok, we need the extra smores, so that's fine. We told them we'd be bringing our own drinks and that we might need ice. Oh look, another extra charge! On the day, told them we don't need ice anymore. "Sorry we already bought it". Ok, will you give it to us now since we're gonna get charged regardless? "It was already dropped off". It wasn't. Confirmed by the guy who hadn't dropped it off. Ok. So at least the smores will make everything sweeter. Call Rich to ask where the smores are... "They were already dropped off"... I understand having default answers, but maybe focus on more than just money? Focus on making sure customers' prepped right. Anyways... Eventually, Rich says he's gonna send Shane with the smores. Shane arrives and brings us a pack of marshmallows, 10 skewers, 7 candy bars, and 2 packs of graham crackers (8 crackers each to be folded in half). Shane proudly declares "1 smore per person"..... Uuhh, I'm sorry? When we reserved, we were told each person would get 3 to 4 smores, which is reasonable... But now that we're here and we can't really do anything about it... Well, now we know Beach Fire Guy. I'm hoping that Rich or Shane will see this review and answer my phone calls. Sitting here in front of their fire pit with 20 people, most of whom got to taste 1 smore. UPDATE: Rich called me back finally. Told me "the 3-4 smores was a miscommunication because he was out on vacation when we reserved, so it must've been someone else that told me that"... Ok, so? "We always do 1 smore and nobody's complained before"... Again, so? Any repeat business or is everybody realizing how much of a joke the smores are and not doing it again? Told me he can't do anything about it now and "to enjoy my vacation". We will... Despite the disappointment. All in all, they seem like nice people... But they need better communication and business acumen. read more

Our experience with Austin was perfect! He was extremely nice and showed up right on time, and then came to clean up right away. He explained everything thoroughly and really ended up making the last night of a vacation the best night. He even came by to let us know we had left something of ours by the pit. Definitely recommend using this service anytime you want to have a fire on the beach without the hassle read more

Booked this past week for our family vacation in Mission Beach. We got the s'more/tiki package because my kids love s'mores. They set up the fire and then about 15 min later a lifeguard came over and said a lady was complaining and we had to be cooking something in order to have a fire. The set up guy had given us a baked potato and grate for this purpose so we put that out assuming it was a grumpy neighbor and no big deal. But then an hour later a policeman arrived saying fires are not allowed even w a potato. Fires are only permitted in the city provided pits at ends of beach. The smoke blows into the residences along the beachfront and is bothersome to families there. He said he would not give us a citation if we left in 20 min. He suggested we not pay the business for the service. It was overall fairly awful and I would not recommend this business. We did pay them because we were able to have the fire for most of the time but to feel like you're doing something illegal that bothers the locals felt terrible. Also the fire pit was a homemade contraption out of pieces of metal that wobbled. No fire poker provided. 2 tiki torches and 1 package of graham crackers. Felt kinda cheap / crappy on top of the other issues. The morning after we went to the beach and the guy hadn't cleaned up the burned log or s'more sticks! Both were sitting in the sand. read more

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!! I would not recommend using this service!! This company charged me over $700 for 15 chairs And only enough s'mores for people to have one and two crappy movable pits that just created a lot of smoke for two hours. after about 45 minutes my guests couldn't take it and had to leave because the smoke was so bad it became a hazard to their health. The guy who set us up took almost an hour setting up chairs while the guests watched getting cold. They never actually got the fire started they left with just pits of smoke going everywhere my dad actually ended up getting the fire lit but it didn't last long because the wood was wet and too big. we ended up just eating the s'mores uncooked with no fire!!!! Then it took them 45 minutes to answer me when I said we needed to leave because the fire smoke was too much and I didn't know if we could leave the stuff unattended. So then I just sat there by myself waiting until they finally answered. I voiced my concerns and asked for a refund they gave me $150 of the 700 I paid them! I am very very unhappy with this, they ruined the get together for me and my family the night before my wedding! I will never use them again, you'd be better off just buying the s'mores yourself. Also, beach fires are not even legal, they told us if approached by officials to lie and say you are roasting a potato. Someone wrote a review about the $200 fine they received! read more

Great experience. Friendly and accommodating. Made it easy and made my birthday stress free.

A group of us came in from out of state celebrating a bachelorette/bachelor weekend, booked a bonfire on the beach for a Friday night. Arrived at beach location, everything was set up. Within 10 min the San Diego police shut us down and gave out a citation for having started a fire on the beach and they made us leave the beach. Police confiscated the fire pit equipment. Super disappointed in this business and those who run it. They should know the state and local regulations and ordinances. Don't use this service and make sure you know what's allowed and what's not. Coming from out of town we took fore granted the business would know what's allowed and not put their customers at risk. :-( Wrong! read more

I have hired Richard and James 2 years in a row for hosting a beach bonfire with my coworkers and both summers have been fantastic working with these guys. They set us up with their fire pit, wood, tiki torches and smores to share. This year I also rented a table cause I had a larger party with lots of food and a large speaker. All their equipment is top notch and accommodating. The wood however, kinda sucks. Too thick. I had some friends bring wood which aided the fire. The wood does burn pretty quick; like 1.5-2 hours. Its advertised as 3.5 hours on the webpage. Surely they welcome calling them for more wood which is nice. Other then the wood I would've given them a 5 star. The guys are amazing and I will continue to hire for all my bonfires. They are family friendly. read more

We had our fire on Mission Bay across from the roller coaster. Its located really close to a playground for the kids, and it was a perfect location ( Josh's suggestion ) for Sea Worlds fire works show! Chairs were super comfortable too!! read more

TOTAL RIP OFF! We paid a lot of money for a S'more bonfire to be enjoyed by 12 guests. They tossed a plastic shopping bag with 3 Hersey bars, a ZIPLOCK baggie with Marshmallows and 2 packs of crakcers. The marshmallows were dirty and can't understand why we didn't have a fresh unopened bag. I text immediately to let them now and the response was Oh...sorry. So wonder why it's cash only. Beware of the dirty leftover marshmallows they supply! Yuck! read more

Wow, what a blast. We had a beach fire this past weekend for my daughter's 16th birthday and the kids just loved it. 2 fire pits, tikis, chairs and s'mores for 20. I highly recommend these guys. Josh got us booked and Jacob got us all set up. I showed up just before 5pm and we had a spot right by South Mission Beach Jetty. Others we knew that were going to have a fire of their own at the same spot were there at 7am to reserve their spot by the city provided pits, and stayed there all day to keep it. We just rolled up on time and it was ready and waiting for us. I recommend, on the beach side, bringing some old magazine or newspaper and twisting it up to give the logs extra fire time to catch since it's more windy on this side than the bay. Once the logs caught fire, they were solid the whole rest of the night. Awesome experience, no setup/cleanup required. A++ read more

Booked a bonfire for our family while staying in Mission Beach. They were really friendly and accommodating when setting up the location for our bonfire. We originally told them to meet us on the beach but then it ended up being too windy so last minute asked them to change to the bay and they were able to no problem. We had the tiki and smores package and it was really nice. The kids had a blast. I think it was a little overpriced but it's all about having fun and making memories while oh vacation. It's great that you just show up and they take care of everything for you and when your done they come back and take it all away. read more

I could never have done this myself, so I would have paid anything to have someone else bring a bonfire to my party. I think the pricing was very fair. The only problem: the night was cold and windy, and the amount of wood they gave us didn't last nearly the 4 hours promised. We ended up purchasing more and then scrounging the beach for leftovers. This is a great service for "outsourcing" a bonfire. We also rented chairs, tiki torches, and a table for the s'mores fixings. Do be aware that the fire pits are relatively small, so you won't get the huge "log cabin" kind of fire you might imagine. More like a teepee. For more than 10 people, get a second fire pit (or maybe they have a larger one). Well worth it! read more

The Beach Fire Guy team helped make our family reunion beach day an overwhelming success. James and his team arrived right on time, assisted with carrying items to the sand and even allowed us to use their dolly to get items onto the beach. The chairs, cooler + ice, table and canopy tent made the beach day enjoyable for everyone. James returned later in the day to deliver supplies and we had a phenomenal bonfire complete with s'mores to end a perfect day. Thanks again for helping make our family reunion memorable! read more

Incredible experience! I wanted to surprise my grandma for her 80th birthday with a beach fire. I booked the sunset shindig with the Beach Fire Guy. The Beach Fire Guy called a couple of days before the event to confirm. On the day of the event, we originally had planned to have it in La Jolla, but changed our minds to Coronado, and the Beach Fire Guy was very flexible and accommodating! He set everything up and started the fire, lit the torches, and we were all set! We had such an amazing time and the kids loved making smores! Highly recommend! He came back at the end of the night and cleaned it all up. I'm already planning to do it again for my son's graduation! read more

My friends are STILL talking about the experience. This is a must for any get-together. We had a blast. The smores were awesome. It's a no brainer to not have to worry about a thing. Cash only and we left a tip. read more

I had some family visiting for the weekend and came across this company. We had a wide range of age visiting and I was brainstorming what would be good for everyone and not break the bank. Josh was very professional and timely even though we were a bit late. They had 2 fire pits plenty of wood, chairs and tiki torches for the event. Best part was they reserved the section of beach so we didn't have to walk to far from where we parked. Everyone had fun especially he kids. I 100% recommend and will use their services again. read more

Don't use this company for beach bonfires. We set up a time well in advance for a birthday bonfire and marshmallow roast and they never showed up. They kept saying they were just down the street stuck in traffic but that was obviously a lie since there has literally been no traffic during quarantine. We sat waiting for them to show up and called a few times until we finally decided to leave after the sunset, which was the whole point of the evening. We reached one of the owners finally and they said they would be there soon and at least we got to see the sunset but they still never showed up. There are plenty of other companies to choose from as there were numerous beach fire set ups all around the area that we chose that could obviously show up on time and get the job done. The owners and staff were very rude with the whole situation. I would take your hard earned dollars somewhere else. They obviously do not care about their reputation. read more

Absolutely phenomenal service, and a wonderful sunset experience in the beach. I guess, being a transplant, I may have missed out on the good old days when this was free (or BYOB)...but this was truly effortless thanks to Josh and Jake, and allowed us to have a perfect get together and relax around the fire as the lights went out and everyone left the beach but us. One of the best evenings I have had in San Diego, and I wholeheartedly recommend this service to anyone. Thanks again! read more

Beach Fire Guy - Looking out over the water (with a tiki torch) as the sun disappeared into the Pacific. - Beaches Near Me - San Diego, California

I hired beachfireguy.com as a small component of my 11 year old's birthday party on Mission Bay Park's De Anza Cove gazebo area. This party was 4-7:00 PM mid-November and my thought was to have a warm place for the kids' parents/grandparents to sit and chat while the kids played. And that is was! It provided a lovely and far quieter atmosphere apart from the wild games that the kids were playing. (Gamez on Wheelz party truck/Rockband/Laser Tag, and double barrel Mini-marshmallow wars...) This company was really low-key and awesome to work with. WILL DEF USE THEM AGAIN!!! I wanted the fire on a grass area (nowhere near the sand) and they did absolutely everything aside from asking me where to set up; and dumping water to extinguish the embers at the end... which turned out to be a god-send actually because as it would happen apparently kids LOVE dumping water on a bonfire... Who knew??? In fact my 11 year old birthday girl said her two favorite activities of the party were the laser tag and putting water on the bonfire... and my 9 year old daughter said her two favorite activities were Rockband drums and.... you guessed it, putting water on the bonfire! Its kinda like when you buy a grip of cat toys and the cat is only enthralled with the paper bag they came in... LOL!!! I always deck out all my kiddie parties in red. Okay and bizarrely enough, Beach Fire Guy uses those really cool kind of resort chairs and they're.... YES YOU GOT IT, they are RED!! Very snazzzzzzz!!! read more

Great Experience! We had a graduation bonfire party for our daughter. When I was considering it, I looked at the companies that offered this service on Yelp. I called all three and decided to go with these guys. The first company I called was super nice but didn't offer a few of the extras that I was interested in, like tables with table cloths, etc. The other company never called me back, ever. When I called Beach Fire Guy, I spoke with the manager, Richard. He was so nice and made suggestions for where we could have the best experience. I am so glad we went with his suggestion since the location was perfect. He was super easy to deal with and made it clear that they wanted us to have a great experience. On the day of the party, I got a call from James, the guy who would be setting up our party. He made sure he had all the details correct and then sent me the exact location of where we would meet. He was on time (a little early which was great!) and set us up for a great party! I felt their prices were very reasonable. And I felt taken care of all the way. I will DEFINITELY use them this summer for another great bonfire party. Thanks guys!!! read more

This is such a brilliant business idea! Beach fires are a classic San Diego past time...But no one really--especially families with young kids--wants to camp out all day for a beach fire ring or deal with a dirty, stinky hot fire pit in the back of your car after the day is done. They provided everything we needed for a perfect little fire on the beach to roast hot dogs and s'mores. Joel had excellent communication from confirmation, delivery and pick up.
