We came to San Diego for a soccer tournament and wanted to do a team bonding event. This was a very fun group activity. We did the sunset package with s'mores. The girl that helped me over the phone was very helpful and recommended this location, Bonita Cove. Our whole group loved it and the girls had a great time. We even got to see the Sea World fireworks from this location. The guy that set up our event was very nice and communicated through text. I did meet him in person and he let us know that he was close by if we needed him. We paid through Venmo. Just an FYI, when you pay through Venmo they do charge you a little more. I would definitely recommend this company.
Chris did a great job setting up our Adirondack chairs, fire pit, tiki torches, s'mores, table and pop up tent for a bonfire party on 8/19 - the day before Hurricane Hilary. We had a perfect spot on Bonita Cove with a clear view of the Sea World Fireworks. Chris was responsive and even came back to relight our tiki torches when the wind blew them out. When we were ready to go, I texted Chris and he showed up in just a few minutes to start collecting everything. I highly recommend this fantastic service and we are hoping to make a beach bonfire like this one an annual tradition.
Such a great way to have a hasslefree fun night on the beach. Called them and they set up an amazing fire for us with s'mores and tiki torches. We had a group of 12 girls and they had an absolute blast. Best part was I didn't have to worry about the set up or the cleanup.
Beach Fire Guy gets a one star rating. I inquired on the Beach Fire Guy website a month in advance to set up a reservation for my friend's birthday outing. (Note that they have record of my request for a specific date.) Since I'm not a local, I wanted to make the reservation over the phone to discuss the location. I then received a call back the same day from "Reese." Reese sounded informative on the call, walked me through directions, and we decided on a time of 6:30PM at Mission Bay (more on this later). He then tells me that someone will call me the day of (6/12) the reservation to meet up and get the supplies dropped off. We ended that call, and I was glad I had a reservation a month out. Fast forward to the day of the reservation. I keep my phone on hand for when I would get that call. I'm traveling to Mission Bay, a 2 hr drive, with my friends, all my food, drinks, and gear ready for a bonfire. At 4pm I was getting antsy and called the Beach Fire Guy number. A woman answers and tells me there is no reservation. I'm trying not to freak out, but she tells me she will see if they can get me a pit in time and will call me back. Two hours later I haven't received a call. I call the number again, and it's Reese on the phone now. He tells me that a reservation was never made because we didn't decide on a time or location. It was at this moment my optimism shattered. That was a big, blatant lie. (Refer back to my online inquiry and the phone call where I made the reservation with Reese himself). He then sounds standoffish as he asks for what kind of pit package I want, gives me a higher price than what we originally discussed (not a big deal), and tells me we can have a pit at 8:30pm. I agree. It's 8:30pm and I'm at mission bay with my friends, and talk to Reese. He tells me to check if anyone has left their fire pits yet so we could start using one. Lo and behold, no one is leaving their pits, and they didn't leave all night. He then tells me he can't get a hold of his driver but will keep trying. Now Reese was being honest at least, and called me every 15 minutes. But each call he had the same line: "hey I can't get a hold of my driver, I'm sorry, I will keep trying". We do this until 9:15. My friend grabbed my phone on the last call and hung up on Reese, and we walked to a nearby restaurant to eat for the first time of the day. I don't know why I had such a bad experience with Beach Fire Guy. Technically there is no accountability on their end because they get payment when they drop off the supplies. They can easily bail on you at any time. Ultimately I'm really bummed. My friends and I made a one night trip around this bonfire plan, and it bombed hard, thanks to Reese... and Beach Fire Guy.
Wonderful evening with a firepit on the beach! Since we are from out of town, and have tried in the past to find beach firepits and were unsuccessful, this was a perfect service to use. We booked the Tiki smore beach bonfire. They provided us with everything needed. Due to current restrictions, we had to meet on the boardwalk and bring everything out ourselves which was super easy. I highly reccommend using Beach Bonfire in SD, we will definitely use them again on our future trips.
Made a reservation with the Beach Fire Guy for my friend's birthday. They were going to go stake out a city-provided fire pit, but if anyone has ever done that, it can be quite challenging. It's a little bit better in the winter, but you have to get there early and guard your fire pit all day in order to enjoy it at night. We wanted to have our get together in the evening and between dogs, work, and errands, our group was looking for something easier. I had been to a beach fire event that a friend had put together many years ago where they had a service, so I started to look to see if any where still in operation and if any were reputable. After looking at a handful of options, I landed on the Beach Fire Guy. I called and spoke with Reese. Even though I am local to downtown San Diego and have done beach fires in the area before, I really wanted an experienced opinion on where it should be specifically. We had narrowed it down to Mission Bay Beach or bayside. After talking to Reese about what we were looking for in terms of ambience and convenience, he suggested a location. I put through the online form and got an email confirmation back. Day of our event, I got a call from our Beach Fire Guy, (I believe it was) John. Super nice. He was going to set our area up a little before our time, and I asked him to drop me a pin of where and specifically it was set-up. Since we had the general area, but I didn't want to get lost. He did and it was super convenient. When we arrived everything was waiting for us and all we had to do was light our fire. All of our chairs were set up, the initial kindling and wood was in the pit, the tiki torches were out and the s'mores ingredients were standing by. While we were there, he stopped by to make sure everything was ok, and about 20 minutes before we were about to leave, I texted him to let him know. Super easy. Depending on how many people you have. It's not a cheap option, but the convenience is what makes it so worth it. The Beach Fire Guys were easy to work with and we had a wonderful view of the water and the SeaWorld Fireworks that evening. I would totally book them again!
Hands down our favorite part of our trip to San Siego! Just sit back and relax- they are so polite and fun! Made us feel right at home as they set it all up for us to enjoy. Puntual and open to all ideas! We enjoyed making the s'mores! They even lit the torches- we truly were able to just sit back and relax. I highly recommend you set a night aside to do this.
The web site says its perfectly legal but the police came up and showed us on a sign where it says we can't have personal beach fires and took all the fire stuff we rented. We were charged like $200 and we only got to use it for like 30 minutes. The company website says it's legal but the city website ,I checked afterwards, said it's not. it's kind of a scam I recommend not wasting your money
Amazing! In an absolute heartbeat I'd hire these guys again! Had a wonderful nice relaxing night on the bay. Great price for what you get!

This service was awesome! We had a Birthday Party @ the Beach for our daughter, & it was so nice not worrying about getting there at the crack of dawn to get a fire ring! We got down to Ski Beach around 10am & ALL fire rings were taken! Our Beach Fire person called, found our location & set everything up for us! Chairs, tiki torches, wood, & plenty of S'mores for our Summer party! When we were done @10pm, we just put the fire out, called them to let them know we were leaving & they took care of the rest! So happy to have a Group of people who truly appreciate the San Diego tradition of Summer Bonfires & are activists in keeping our beaches clean & keeping this local, long time tradition going! They even have a petition going to let our city councilmen know us locals do not ever want to lose this tradition! Great work guys! read more

Great beach fire experience at Mission Bay! We submitted an online reservation the day before our event, and The Beach Fire Guy team was helpful with responding to my questions over the phone and via email. On the day of the event, Jacob was our server and contacted me in the afternoon to provide details for the day. We arrived to a relaxing setup, and the fire was easy to start and maintain over 3 hours. Had s'mores and finished the evening off with the fireworks from Sea World! read more

We had such a great time! We arrived to 6 chairs, a fire pit, 2 tiki torches and a bag of s'mores all set up for us. I wasn't sure where to have things set up and our guy was extremely helpful and gave some suggestions. We had a great conversation and he picked the absolute perfect spot. We all enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend having Beach Fire Guy set up a relaxing evening with awesome views! read more

Omg! What a great experience. We had a family vacation in SD and decided to use Beach Fire Guy to end our trip with a Bonfire and S'mores with the whole family. Once arrangements were made, we just walked to the beach. Everything was set up, fire was stoked and ready to go for s'mores and relaxing. Having the Tiki's was an added ambience and we could not have been happier. My grand babies were in heaven! When we finished up, we just sent him a text and everything was taken care of. Our set up guy was very courteous and his tip was well deserved. I would HIGHLY recommend Josh at Beach Fire Guy! read more

If you want to do a bonfire and don't want the hassle of staking out a place all day and bringing your own wood THESE GUYS ARE THE ONES TO CALL! I was planning my daughters 13th birthday party and Josh was absolutely accommodating with my plans and request. The day of the party Jacob set it up and he was THE BEST. Whenever I needed either more wood, cups, or the tiki torches to be lit again, I just needed to text him and he would be there within 15-20 mins. I don't know if that's the norm, but it was great! I would totally use them again!! Excellent job guys! Thank you for making my daughter's birthday party a success! It was a hit with all her friends! read more

Far Exceed our expectations!! Josh was responsive, flexible and a pleasure to work with! Our Beach Fire on the Bay was the perfect way to top off our weeklong family vacation!! It was so much fun to arrive at our predetermined location and see the bright red chairs, Tiki Torches, fire pits and S'more supplies set up and waiting. Also was, surprisingly, affordable and worth every cent. Jacob phoned me 30 min prior to our ETA to confirm the location and had us set-up early which was perfect for our three grand children. Upon our arrival, I requested a 2nd fire Pit (and offered to pay extra). Jacob set it right up, gave us extra wood and wouldn't for no extra $$. He was available if we needed extra wood or S'more fixings. Although, it is a three hour event, Jacob told up we could stay as late as midnight if wanted. We just sent him a text when leaving and walked away. No muss/No fuss!! Though staying on the oceanfront, we opted to have our fire pit on the side. Josh highly recommended this location for the following reasons; warmer, quieter, safer for children, moon rise, lighted activities on the water and the fireworks were visible from Sea World. Best decision!! The S'mores were a hit with kids and adults alike. read more

What a great way to end a perfect day. My husband and I set this up after our amazing dinner for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The guy was very flexible with time so that was a major plus. So we met up with the fire guy (he will contact you a couple of hours ahead to make sure you're still coming) and he was easy to find. Parking was easy on a Tuesday night. We met up at the little beach area that was right across the water from SeaWorld. There were other bonfires going on as well, but they weren't that close at all. Make sure to bring a jacket! It gets chilly! Also be sure to call SeaWorld to see THE EXACT TIME the nightly fireworks go off! That way you won't miss them. The times change almost daily. The guy was super nice, showed us our bonfire, we paid him in cash, and then he left. We had the tiki lights with two chairs and smores. They provide extra firewood to last hours and sticks to put the marshmallows on. We really enjoyed our quality time together. When your done, all you do is text the guy saying your finished and go home. He'll come tear down the bonfire and everything. The price is very reasonable. I'd definitely do it again. read more

We hired this company for a family gathering for a 30th birthday party. It was nice to not have to load more stuff in our car than we already had, and also nice to walk away and not have to worry about ANY clean up. When making reservations, they did make me aware that due to Covid restrictions, they would provide a wagon for us with all of the stuff, but that they would not be able to set up. I do hope they will be able to start setting up again soon, as I do have a bad back and couldn't set up alone. Anyway, my whole family was really happy and a good time was had by all. read more

Hi, whats the latest allowed to have a bonfire in Bonita Cove in mission bay?
Actually bonfires are not allowed, per San Diego municipal code 63.20.5 unless in city provided concrete pre-installed fire containers (the big cement squares) or if in a barbecue. The city is strictly enforcing existing code since the beaches are…
