Greetings world, So stoked right now!…read more2 weeks ago I lost 2 boards off my ski sled going out to surf donuts, Not realizing the boards had come undone we took off out to the point, once we saw they were missing we searched around for about an hour and a half. We did not find them :(. One of the boards I shaped myself with the guidance of the might Doug Yates ( Rocky's-Superior Glass) his name and mine were on it. Someone found them floating around the bay and took them to Coconut Pete's and the owner Billy asked Doug if he knew who these boards belong to and he called me up laugh said "did you lose and board Jon?" We couldn't get the original screw back in but he quickly replaced it and even gave me an extra plate and screw. I asked if I could pay for anything and he said not to worry about it. Their sign about picking up a bucket of trash and getting a free coffee honestly blew my mind. Even little details like having real small towels in the bathroom instead of paper towels show how intentional they are about being eco-friendly. The coffee is also amazing! They have in-house flavors (always a plus), and I got the banana bread latte half sweet. It was so good and perfectly balanced. The setup is unique - it's more of a coffee kiosk attached to a surf shop, with a cute outdoor deck/backyard-style seating area behind it. When I went, most people were grabbing drinks to go, but there are benches where you can hang out and wait. There was a small line, but honestly it makes sense. After some research, I found the items for less on Amazon, so we called Hansens. My fiancé spoke with them, and they were willing to price match. Enter Patty, the awesome manager! Patty was incredibly kind and helpful--she matched the Amazon price and gave me a partial refund right on the existing order. I didn't even have to drive back to Encinitas or hassle with a return. I needed to purchase a wetsuit as I am not about to let this summer go by and not get into the "warm" San Diego waters. Water temps are about as high as it gets for out here right now, like in low 70s, so for me, thats still cold. I need at least a 4/3 wetsuit for that temp. Yes, I am a pansy and I know it. This place has a really nice section for wetsuits and also some great sales too. I made a beeline for the back of the store to check out what they had available. They have short wetsuits, 3/2s, 4/3s, some with hoods (I like those), some front zippered and some back zipped (this is my preference), children's wetsuits, men and women's also. I already knew what I needed so only had to try on two wetsuits (that was already too much lol - you are ALWAYS fighting wetsuits). Fitting rooms available here and then I went to work battling the wetsuits. I could fit the size 4 but my shoulders are a bit broader and the zipper wasn't like easy to pull, so I went with the size 6. The cost for 4/3 wetsuit here was $150, a pretty good deal. I was just at REI looking at an O'Neill 4/3 and it was over $400! I also picked up some shorts and a bikini top and everything here is severely discounted. Sweet!! Service guy working here was super nice and helpful. He showed me the size chart for wetsuits and helped me get a fitting room and rung me up. Great place to get some water apparel here and know they have wetsuits too. They also have shoes here but not too many options in sizes. They also have bags and other items too (I forgot to look at a wetsuit hood they had on sale here - so will come back). Overall. this place was great! I'll be back! But know the parking is a disaster here, the lot is super tight, just FYI.

When we walked in, there was lots of sales being advertised on a lot of the racks when we walked in. Definitely makes a big difference since the clothing products here are definitely on the pricier end. My first time shopping at this retail store and they have a great selection related to swimwear!!! I was interested in buying a wetsuit and was also informed on the differences between the 4/3 and the 5/3 millimeters of the wetsuits. A 4/3 (4mm for the torso and 3mm for the arms) is better for moderate to cold water with higher flexibility, while the 5/3 is warmer and designed for colder, winter waters, and is slightly less flexible. My goal is to be warm as I don't want to feel too cold so I went with the 5/3. There's a good amount of fitting rooms that are good sized to be trying them on. My first time trying on wetsuits and I felt like a seal LOL!!! I purchased one but keep in mind that even with the clearance sale I got it for, it was $120+. My girlfriend tried finding bikinis but there was little sizing for her and lots of the two pieces were separated and the designs weren't matching so she didn't get any.

He did half day surf camp for three days. 9-12. I took the days off work to be with him and watch. They provide wetsuits, so helpful. The Surf teachers were all so attentive and I felt safe having him there. It was 4 teachers for 11 kids. I loved hearing the teachers surf lingo. And just hanging out for the mornings with the kids and surf friends. Teachers did a morning stretch and then got them out on the water. My son was catching waves right away. Mid-day they had snack break and made sure to reapply sunscreen. Last day they had a pizza party at the surf shack for all the girls and boys. All 3 of my kiddos were smiling, and laughing, even though they were getting wiped out by some of the waves lol! Watching your kids light up with excitement makes everything right in the world...
