The bus is extremely unreliable. You have to aim your time 10 mins before the bus is supposed to get there. It might be early. it might be late. Who's to say? This causes a lot of stress as the next bus will also be late or at least take about an hour to get there. They tell you to go to the live map. This is more effective but continues to be unreliable. Marking northbound busses as going south bound. Certain stops don't even have calculated times. So you have to do some mental gymnastics to figure out. How early do I need to be here? Not reliable at all. Don't go by the schedules on the Tap or Google Maps because they aren't accurate. If you call dispatch, they'll claim it was there even though you know good and well it wasn't or they have problems with the bus. You'll end up wasting your time and getting really frustrated. South Bay needs a better transportation system. Do better! read more

Unreliable service times and no ability to track the buses real time with any of the transit apps like google maps. Google maps shows a non real time estimate which can be off by 15 mins. A shame because it would be very conveniant because the buses go by my home and work. read more

The service for Beach Cities Transit is the worst in the WORLD! I'm being serious here pick up times are completely off and a complete lie. I waited more than 80 minutes for a bus that never came when it was supposed to arrive "on time". they need to completely change this bus line, even Metro is better than you now! ABSOLUTE WORST BUS SERVICE EVER!! On top of buses never coming on time-always! I've been passed up standing at bus stop waving like a fool too many times, not exaggerating, prior reviews are accurate. I called and emailed them only to be talked down to hypocritically, told said bus driver (same older man same time every day) misunderstood me, that he thought I was gesturing to pass me up. WTF??!! I'm standing at the 109 bus stop - it's the only bus that goes thru El Segundo (aside from their local shuttle bus that only serves El Segundo weekday only & their bus stops are few and spread out further). What a joke of crappy bus service and bus drivers have attitude and really rude-maybe one nice lady rest are miserable hating their riders. It's sad because the South Bay is a affluent area, with cheap useless bus service. I needed to get close to the Whole Foods market at Beryl and PCH so I took the Metro rail and ended up at the Redondo Beach Green Line station on Marine Avenue. I was going to just order an Uber ride but then I noticed a bus sign for the Beach Cities Transit and a map showing me that it actually stopped at Diamond and PCH in Redondo Beach which was just a block away from my final destination. The sign said it was only $1 too so it was a no brainer to give it a try. In fact, I only had to wait 5 minutes and a shuttle van came rolling up to the station. This route was the 102 and it takes you on a random route though through a North Redondo Beach neighborhood and finally passing by the Southbay Galleria mall and then to the beach cities to end up at the Redondo Beach pier and then back again. It wasn't that crowded, mostly some out of towners headed to the pier from the station and then picking up a few kids with their skateboards along the way. Funny, I'd never even rode this before when I lived in the South Bay. I took care of what I needed to do and then just waited for the bus at Diamond and PCH again to be taken back to the Green Line station. It was totally worth it and I like the idea of leaving the driving to somebody else. BCT Line 102 hours are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on 30 to 45 minute headways. I suppose the schedule gets off at times but for what it's worth, it's a fairly convenient service and much appreciated. There is also a 109 shuttle which heads more north/south through the beach cities and ends up at LAX. If I have to get to the beach again via the Green Line, I'll be taking the BCT shuttle again. read more

Every once in a while i catch the BCT bus at the metro aviation station becuz the route runs from manhattan beach to redondo beach pier. And then i get off at redondo beach pier and walk back along the strand back to manhattan beach pier to catch the return bus. It always makes for a nice warm weather walk because each of the three piers has its own unique character and frankly i don't want to hassle the parking and what seems like a hundred stop signs along the way. The Beach Cities Transit is a small shuttle type bus that is in the South Bay. I can pick it up a couple blocks from my home and head to the Green Line, The South Bay Galleria or down to the Redondo Pier. There are a couple other lines to but I haven't used those. It's stupid. espically the route #102, it's so awkward. One bus go to the south bay, then to the green line, then back to the pier, then the next would go to the green line, then to the South bay, then back to the pier. Geesh, it shopuld be seperate into 2 routes, the one that terminates at the green line being extended to El Camino, and the one going to south bay... just to south bay. Also the southern terminal should be at least be extended to the Village. No one want to take 2 buses to Del Amo, or to the Galleria when it's so close! 109 is alright, but it's always late. 104... Beach Cities Transit operates primarily in the Southbay Cities of Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo. They have lines that connect you to Redondo Marine Green Line Station as well as to Aviation Green Line Station and the LAX Transit Center. PROS: If you live in the Southbay and want to get to the airport. This could be a good option. For $1 you can grab BCT Line 109 which will take you to the LAX Transit Center, where you can grab a free bus to the LAX airport. On your way back from the airport you have a choice from the LAX Transit Center if you live anywhere along PCH in Redondo. The Metro 232 or BCH 109 will get you back so if it's late in the evening when bus coverage is minimal you can take whichever one shows up first. Beach Cities buses are clean and rarely filled. They don't smell like someone pissed all over the seats. The Drivers are nice and helpful. Although every now and then you will get a trainee that is a little green-on one ocasion the driver, who was very nice and was sitting in for the regular driver out sick, asked us: "Who rides this bus regularly? Can you tell me which way to go?' It was no big deal, really. The buses are usually on time-usually. There are those ocassions where they get stuck in traffic and are delayed. CONS: Outside of regular business hours they don't come often enough, and good luck after 10:00PM. Deduct one star for infrequent bus schedules at night. read more

First the good: * the fare is $1 - cheaper than starting a car right now (with the price of gas so high) * the buses are nice, clean and comfortable. They even have radio playing sometimes. The large windows make it easy to "sight see" while you are headed to your destination. * the bus stops are convenient for me to catch the bus and stop at my destination. I enjoy riding the bus every once in a while to my work. I live and work in El Segundo and it's about 1.5 miles to work. For $1 it will cost me more to drive to work. The bad: VERY INCONSISTENT SCHEDULE!!!! I have ridden the bus about 10 times to work and 4 of those times the bus has come TOO EARLY and I have had to wait almost an hour for the next bus -- making me very late for work. Completely unacceptable! If you are planning a trip on the BCT, you should plan to arrive at the bus stop approx. 15 minutes in advance because I have been to the stop 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled pick up and "missed the bus" I am not the only one to complain about this. Other passengers have called BCT to complain and they still remain inconsistent. I give this three stars because public transportation should be very consistent so it is a reliable form of transportation and I don't feel that this is reliable at all. I ride the BCT 109 every morning to work on Rosecrans & Nash. My regular morning bus driver, Peggy, is fantastic. I look forward to seeing her smiling face each morning. Instead of the misery of rush-hour traffic and the stress related to it, I get to spend the time comfortably. Peggy is always helpful, courteous, kind and generous. The trip home in the afternoon, however, is another matter. The bus is at least 15 minutes late everyday. It can often run 1/2 an hour late. When I've called the dispatcher asking for an update on service, I've been lied to -- at least on one occasion. I appreciate that late afternoon traffic slows down the schedules, but they should be accurately noted on-line and in the brochures to reflect the actual schedule. It is also completely unacceptable for a dispatcher to lie to a rider. They definitely need to work on those two issues. read more

This bus line should honestly be look into. Ive never had a bus come on time. In fact every bus (line 109) was more than 20 minutes late. I had one asshole black man as my driver. Rude, eating, and the fact he knows hes switching shifts with his coworker and hes late didnt make him get himself prepare to leave any quicker. The only pro about this bus is its a dollar.
