Updating my review to say that someone reached out to me and completely refused to address the issue at hand. They said that this harassment was actually part of the person's job and that they saw nothing wrong with it once again I was asked over and over and when I said no, she continued trying to bully me into it. Myself and another lady there were very alarmed that she seem to be trying to fraudulently force customers into extras and lie about what the system says they came in for so that she could get commission off of that . But again her leader said that that is what's part of the program ! I don't doubt this at all all. I don't see how this is her fault when her leaders are telling her to lie and manipulate .... I could just imagine the amount of pressure she's under. She doesn't own the business so the reason she is forceful is because they are forcing her. It looks like Wells Fargo only in tanning world. Great experience! The staff is more than willing to help you with any and all questions. I've never tanned in my life and was looking to gain color before my wedding. I can't say enough about this place! The manager (I believe her name was Alex) was amazing, and the airbrush girl, Kelly made my day! I came in to get whatever would make me tan by 5:00pm that evening. The manager recommended the Versa Spa, which would show color in just a few hours. She also recommended (and rightfully so) that the darkest would be too dark, and I should go with a medium. Being a little insecure since I can no longer tan, I thought the color seemed too light. I called and they told me to just come back and they would airbrush me where I wanted more color. I realized the next day that they were right all along and I should have just been more patient. The fact, though, is that they were so accommodating and patient, I wish I lived closer to Paramus, as that is the only place I would ever go to. I can't thank or recommend them enough! read more

Tony is an amazing manager staff member as well. This location is very friendly. All the artist are well trained and very professional. They are so knowledgeable in what they do. They can explain color and mixtures and all different things that you may require. Another thing is that the place is absolute spotless and I feel so safe even during this pandemic. Unfortunatelly, i was going to Lodi location where I was given cayenne sun bed which i belive is a little bit older, there's no music, mist is not working and you tan so-so. In this location, with same package, i got KBL sun bed which is AWESOME!!!!! Automatic mist, awesome music, great tan!!! Awesome experience in sun bed and girl who work there are really helpful! I came to Beach a Bum for an airbrush tan before a special occasion. I purchased two add-ons: the prep pre-spray and the moisture post-spray. When I did this last time, they were separate applications. This time, the tanning technician said they were already mixed into the spray, which rubbed me the wrong way since she didn't mix anything and put it into the airbrush machine. I might have been more lenient with that if the tan had turned out well...but it didn't. I asked for a medium-bronze color and ended up only a shade darker than my normal tone. Additionally, there was a white stripe down each of my arms where the tech missed spraying. I couldn't see them in the spray room with all of the warm lighting and didn't notice until I got home and was looking myself over. It was the same placement on each arm. For nearly $70, I'm very, very disappointed. I would rather use a spray booth, where I feel more sure about the results, even though an airbrush tan is supposed to allow for more customization. I find it hard to believe I received the proper pre-spray and post-spray I paid $20 extra for, seeing how quickly and unevenly my tan faded, even with proper after-care. I'll find a different local option to try next time. read more

I called here and asked if the spray tan technician could possibly be able to airbrush abs on me for my Halloween costume on Saturday. She was slightly unsure so I came in an hour or later just for the tan and to see what we could figure out. Let me tell you that Amber was awesome! I really was chill about the whole thing and we were cracking up during the main tan and trying to figure out if it even was possible. Amber agreed to try it and she painted on some lines then blurred them out and it ended up being perfect for what I was trying to accomplish! I really loved her attitude and her willingness to at least attempt something she wasn't entirely confident at, and she succeeded immensely! She is a prime example of a great employee and a straight up amazing person! Thank you Amber for putting up with me and making my costume complete!! They are lucky to have you there! read more

I don't really know what all the fuss is about. I've been a loyal customer of this location for 5+ years and never had any altercation with the staff or problem with sanitation.The staff can get slightly impolite at times but I would be on edge too if it's busy as hell and i'm scrubbing sweaty ass beds every 10 minutes. In the past 5 years, I've tried every single tanning bed in that location, from bronze to diamond and from lay down to stand up, but I realized the diamond level beds are definitely worth the extra $$$. I honestly can't see myself using any of the lower level beds anymore, especially the bronze or silver, which are essentially the same thing. To elaborate on my preference, the main difference between bronze and diamond levels is that lower level beds have low pressure bulbs with high level of uvb rays, which means you need to do longer sessions in order to get the same result as in diamond level beds, and also run the risk of getting sunburnt in the process. bronze beds also require more frequent visits to even get a basic tan started and to keep them that way. With diamond level beds, I noticed that i got a basic tan in 2 visits at most, and after that I only go for free tanning saturdays until my membership expires and just a few times in between. If you buy the 12-session diamond level for $360 + 17% tax, the staff are usually willing to throw in a couple extra sessions in there. this also gives you an expiration of 1 whole year, which means you can take advantage of free tanning saturdays (sundays in other locations) for that duration. All in all, I have no complaints. read more

this was my first spray tan ever and I was extremely nervous. Being a newbie, I had completely unrecognized that I had to put the hairnet directly on my hairline and not on my forehead. I came out of the booth with a horrible line across my forehead and completely embarrassed. the girls there were super understanding and made me feel so much better. they fixed it within minutes and it looks perfect now. the price and service here were incredible; only 40$ for a spray tan (30$ normally but an additional 10 for a before and after primer) I will definitely be returning and recommending to a friend. read more

Thank god I was on my final tan of my package. The girl who helped me was of no help, I purchased a make up wipe and under feet stickers for the spray booth. She asked what color I wanted I said last combination as last time, she was like oh we changed the booth. Okay fine. But then she didn't show me anything about It there was a video I was ready to go in machine realized she never gave me the feet things, got redressed went out to get them. Then I asked why It wasn't starting she said the green button, I go in hitting green button. Nothing happened, got dressed again now to tell her again not working, she didn't start the machine! Ok now It started but by now my feet stickers have disintegrated due to the water in bottom of machine from last person, sp they were of no use to me. I've had a package for 3 years and recently moved so I had to switch locations. They're slow, rude, and the beds are dirty. One time I waited 10 minutes because the employee was tanning...The floor of the standup is so dirty I didn't even take my socks off. The staff is very nice, which I love. However, the Mystic Tan machine is ALWAYS filthy. I've been going to Beach Bum for the past few years and I get a Mystic usually before every "warm" vacation I take. Even though I purchase the foot pad things that stick onto the soles of your feet AND exfoliate AND apply the barrier cream, I still end up with brown feet that take over a week to fade. The machine is just never properly cleaned---at least it hasn't been when I've gone to use it. I brought this up to the girl who works at the front desk and she told me they'd look into it, however there has been no change. (I got a Mystic three weeks ago before my trip to Vegas and had brown feet for two weeks) Such a shame because I love the Beach Bum environment! :(. read more
