First of all we did not eat there but were on a friends boat and went to watch a live band on a Sunday evening. Loved the bar inside, reminds me of an old time place. Shuffleboard and a few of games with wood décor. Outdoor patio was jammed. If you like to people watch this place is for you. It would remind you of a college frat house party except all the drunks are in their 50s and 60s. Seen quite a few geezers boozed up with the UA sleeveless tank on, and dancing with their boob enhanced mid 50s wives....it was actually very funny and entertaining though. Food was good but not as Great as it "used to be"! The Tomato Soup used to be "the best" years back...I have had better. The Cheese bread was so doughy and full of cheese was sickening. Couldn't hardly chew it...or stop chewing it to swallow so we took it home. The drinks I ordered were TERRIBLE!! Was a Wed night with the best band ever though (70's-80's rock). Also went the week before (Good band) because we were back in town. Ordered a Rum Runner and I couldn't drink it! Maybe "cheap" liquor made it taste terrible, was way too strong tasting like poison. I pasted it around and no one liked it so it wasn't just me. She made me another, left it! Went to the other bar, husband asked to "top shelf" ....gross!! I don't know what was wrong. Bartender said it was the "dark" rum so she dumped it and made another with light run, more juice which was a better flavor but geez! This is a "bar" and they can't make drinks! Absolutely love the remodel! Sand colored wood flooring, new tables and chairs, and stunning lighting. So grateful to be able to enjoy the great southwest chicken wrap again. Husband says the Clam Chowder is "freaking awesome ". Had to go back for lunch today to see a former favorite waitress who now makes all their soups. Had their pizza today and I love the sauce and thin crust. Friendly hostess, waitress was very attentive Sydney), and all employees wear masks. Felt comfortable and safe. I don't know why I keep trying this place. Ordered a medium pizza with 2 toppings for carry out and it was over $19 plus a take-out charge of $1.94. I get to pay for the pleasure of picking up my own pizza? The pizza was just ok - nothing special. Definitely not worth the $22+. read more

Always a great stop regardless of the day. It has a great atmosphere whether you are inside or out on the patio. The beach bar tomato soup is one of my favorites. You can't pass up the lunch deal for 2 items for 8.99. You have sandwiches, soup, and salad to choose from. It is not only a great deal but also filling. 4 stars for the nostalgia of this place...3 stars for the food. My husband remembers coming here every Friday night growing up on the lake and of course we have to take our daughter here when we come to visit. The ambiance is great too. It's directly across from the lake and live music plays on Wednesday's and sundays. The good - food tasted great, for what we had. Questionable - Both my wife and I got a bowl of the tomato soup, but she asked for hers in a to go container. It was roughly 1/2 the size of mine for the same price. Bad - They forgot to bring out my daughter's Mac n cheese with the rest of the food so it came out by the time we were nearly done eating. They also kept filling up my boys chocolate milk but didn't say it wasn't a free refill. Everyone raves about this place, but it isn't *that* good. Really great place if you want to grab some good food for a great price. The atmosphere is casual and right across from the lake. The tomato soup is the best I have ever tried. My husband and I love it and always order it. My husband tried the Reuben and said it was better than the one he had in chicago. I tried the submarine hoagie and it was so good! While staying in the area over July 4 weekend, My wife and I decided to try this place. IT WAS JAM PACKED!!! They have plenty of parking, but we had to search for a spot and walk a long way to get in. However, we were seated immediately in this immense building. Our service was fine....nothing amazing, but adequate. The food was good. I had some queso & chips and it was REALLY good. My wife chose a Tuna Croissant with Tomato Soup and it was quite good. Drinks always refilled in a timely manner. Limited menu. They do not have any grills or fryers. It's sandwiches and pizza. Food was pretty ok but not a lot of flavor. I had to lift my feet up while eating so the hired help could clean the floor and chairs around me. They wanted badly to be out of there, one hour before closing (at 10 pm), I guess that I was obstructing to their party plans (Friday night at 9 pm). I talked to the manager about this, and got no satisfaction. I can assure you I won't go back again. Too many other good local choices. Owner should wake up, but probably won't. My happy place! Summer weekends are spent at Clarke Lake and I don't ever miss a chance to eat the french dip sandwich (aka skinny dip.) My boyfriend LOVES their Hobbie Sandwich. Great food. Cold beers. Have always loved going to the bar. I will go again! However I have to say the wait staff is not as friendly as they used to be. It was Memorial Day and who really wanted to work I called to see if they were open due to the holiday and the guy who answered was rude. The hostess was nice. But the take out window employee was short and not even smiling. The bartenders were okay but were very rushed with us. I would say customer service needs a moral booster. Decided to take my wife out because we had a baby sitter. She wanted somewhere with a patio. Came here. We wanted to site on the patio they told us we had to do a take out, they charged us $3 takeout fee. Wasn't happy, sat on the patio they wouldn't bring the food to us so I had to go get. Then they didn't get my daughter her drink and chips, then she wanted to argue with me about giving my daughter her chips, then had to go to the bar to get her drink. There's a tree inside! Actually, it's a tree trunk. The original tree died a long time ago when lightning hit it. This place has been here since the 20's and I see why. How charming! Family friendly spot right across from Clark Lake. When I visit my family, we often go here because the food is pretty decent and the atmosphere is relaxed. The pizza is really good and so are the wraps. The drinks are pretty cheap and the pours are good! Large outside patio area, but the problem is they only serve to a few high top tables. If you don't sit at those then you have to order carry out if you want to eat outside and enjoy the weather. If they served food on the whole patio then I would always come here for the outdoor seating. read more

What a difference two years makes. We've been coming to The Beach Bar since the '60's. For years the pizza was great, but the beer was generally luke-warm. They upgraded their reefers and for several years everything was great. Piping hot pizza and cold beers. However, the last two visits have been disappointing. The beer is still cold, but the pizza's are now coming out luke-warm. I told the waitress about the less than hot pizza after our meal and was advised I should have mentioned it earlier.
