I can always count on them - if something doesn't look good they'll let me know. I've also bought things off of their Instagram and they happily drop it off at my home in one of their gorgeous bags. That's awesome. I always leave with great styles & feeling cheerful. I have several friends who feel the same. .

It's a beautiful warm and humid day in Chicago and the walk was good. The place is very quaint and small but well lit for shopping. It's a woman's boutique specializing in European clothing. The major designer is Solar and I have not heard of it, but designs are suited for a dressier woman. Thankfully that counts me in as I work in an office where jeans are not allowed and it's conservative so the weekends I can go casual. Back to the store the sizes are European and the lady at the counter (I am assuming is the owner) was very kind to tell me that 34 is usually x-small, 36 is small and 38 is medium. I'm usually a medium but some of her clothing allow for a 34 when I tried on a pair of white slacks. It had a great fit, but buying white is difficult because the material may be more revealing than you might like. Her clothes has many price points as she indicated and sales from the previous season is 20% off. Her summer selection drove me to walk in full of blight yellows, pink, and orange. Do stop in if you're in the neighborhood and support local small businesses!

I've never shopped at Madewell. When I entered, it looked surprising familiar -- a lot of the…read moreclothes looked very similar to clothes in my closet. It is affiliated with J. Crew, where I shop a lot of the time. However, I didn't think the sales were that great (not when J Crew had a 50 percent off sale) and unfortunately a lot of the sizes were very very tiny. Which made me feel bad. Mostly because I couldn't see the prices on the tiny tiny tags with their tiny tiny print and then I realized that the sizes were inside on the label. I slunk out of the store empty-handed.

They magically appeared when I needed them, and let me do my own thing when I just wanted to browse. They also didn't bat an eye when I wanted to try on 20 things, and hung everything so nicely in the fitting room for me. I loved how they didn't stand around and give me compliments like at other stores, which makes me feel pressured to buy what I'm trying on. I always feel guilty when someone gushes "I loooove that on you it fits you PERFECTLY!!!" and then I don't want it. So I really liked the freedom they gave me at Madewell even though there weren't that many people in the store. They also have amazing sales! Sometimes they have an additional 40% off sale, where you can snag deals like jeans for $40 and tee shirts for $15. I find that their in-store sales are much cheaper than online. I like to price check when i get home, and sometimes the things i bought at a major discount are full price online (which, of course, makes me feel smug and pleased with myself). Their stuff is such good quality and is so comfortable. Their jeans feel like jeggings but are actually jeans. Also, for petite ladies like myself, their ankle jeans are a great length. You can also get an additional 15% off with a college ID! Can't beat that! If you're at Old Orchard, you must stop by and check out their sale section. You'll be sure to find some pieces that you'll love with great customer service!
