Update I have returned twice in the past few weeks I have brow waxing, tint and the most wonderful shoulder and neck massage with Julie and today I had a gel pedi and Mani with Janice. Janice is so lovely and really takes her time. She does everything by hand, no drills or machines and she never rushes. When you walk in there's a sign that says something along the lines of enter as strangers and leave as friends. And that's exactly the vibe this salon gives. Everyone is super friendly, the place is nice, clean, and I had great conversation with my manicurist. However, my manicurist definitely lacked experience. I got a dip manicure and my nails were left bumpy and thick. That was pretty frustrating but I figured my overall experience was fine, so I wouldn't leave a review. Then, four days after getting my nails done, they start to chip. And I don't mean small chips that are not really noticeable, I mean half my nail. Whenever I get dip it typically lasts 3 weeks so I was very upset that they didn't even last a week. Which is why I'm sharing my experience. By the time I hit 7 days, two nails were completely off and others were chipped as well. It's very disappointing to spend so much money on a manicure and have it not only turn out badly but have it chip off super quickly. By day 10, all my nails but 3 have chipped pretty drastically. I will not be returning nor would I recommend getting dip. read more

While visiting the town of Coronado,CA, we decided to enjoy the day by requesting pedicures. From the time we entered this establishment the potency of the unwelcoming vibration could be felt. Before we could fully list the services that we were requesting, the older man ( not gentile to say the least) told us that he didn't think they could accommodate us. He then asked us what type of service we were requesting and when informed, proceeded to shake his head and said "we cannot accommodate you". The problem with this entire experience was quite evident in observing the expression on the patrons of the establishment faces. It is sad, that in this day and age, we still face biases from individuals that are not aware (maybe they are) that they are displaying the depths of their ignorance when dealing with race. My advice; if you are of any color stay away from this establishment. read more

As a working mom who has three young daughters, I don't have a lot of free time to dote on myself. I discovered Be Polished when I moved close by and was resistant to go at first as I thought it looked much too nice to be affordable. Thankfully, I was wrong. The prices for mani/pedis are comparable to those other salons on Orange between 8th and 9th and yet the experience couldn't be any more different. Lynn and her team strive to make you feel special and cared for from the moment you walk through the door. They offer you a warm neck pillow and a beverage of your choice and take time for your service whether it is a simple polish change or a full gel manicure. If you make an appointment, you can actually get in at the time that you have booked as opposed to other places that still make you wait (so frustrating). My girls LOVE coming with me to Be Polished to get their fingers and toes painted and the manicurists know them personally now and treat them equally as special as they treat me. As a local of Coronado since 1979, this is one of my favorite places in town and can't recommend it enough for both visitors and locals alike. read more

Cute little boutique salon right off Orange Avenue - the Main Street in Coronado. Overall, this is a cute little shop that offers multiple services. However, a group larger than 2 wouldn't be able to go in at the same time to get mani-pedicures. It's a take your time, one-at-a-time, quiet spot at the end of Orange Avenue. I had my eyebrows shaped here after years of poor shaping at a "chop-shop". She did a great job and took the time to explain what the shape of my brows should be. It was quick, but personalized, didn't rush me and made sure I was satisfied. I gave it 4/5 since I wasn't told there was a cancellation fee up front and had to make the appointment work despite having a sick kid in tow. Just make sure if you make an appointment, you keep it. It was a nice experience, but I'm really not a fan of the cancellation fee - and really not a fan of trying to enforce it since I wasn't made aware of it. Life happens! Despite the cancellation policy, it's a cute spot. read more

The place is really clean and comfortable. The women at the desk made sure I was very comfortable. They offer champagne and pillows for your neck. Irma was very gentle removing my old nails, trimming everything up and polishing my nails. She did a great job w what she did! She ended up NOT having time to do a design and add acrylics on my nails so I guess there were several miscommunications from the start. Not getting what I wanted done for a start. And....I was quoted on the phone $58 for my dip and $48 for a gel pedi. When I left they charged me $71 for the dip and $56 for a gel pedi! A far cry from the quote they gave me. The pedi was nothing special. She barely massaged my feet and seemed uninterested. In fact the girl who rang me up was the pedicurist. She wasn't polite when I told her what I was quoted on the phone. Saying they charge extra for removal of my old dip? I've never heard of that. I'd try Irma again as she was so gentle. But w knowing that I'm gonna pay through the nose. read more

The nail tech that worked with my little one was very patient, even when she was a little wiggly. I'm visiting from the Bay Area and my friend took me here for some r&r. While I do get regular pedicures, Be Polished is a completely new experience for me. Their furniture and decor were all very elegant looking and they definitely know how to pamper their customers! Experience and Service: Awesome! We did a walk in and asked if they could take us in. They were pretty booked, but the lady at the front was nice and made sure to accommodate us. She told us to return within 30 minutes. So we walked around the area and got tea. If you're of drinking age, you get offered mimosas, which we happily accepted. You are then guided to a couch and your feet gets soaked inside a golden basin filled with warm water and a mini bath bomb (all handmade I believe). My friend and I got to sit together on the same couch so we were able to still talk to each other. While the couch itself wasn't all that comfortable, they give you a scented should bean bag to help you relax. Jenny took care of me that day. She cleaned, scrubbed, and massaged my feet. I'm usually very ticklish, in which I warned her I might kick (lol), so she was gentle but put in enough pressure to still scrub my feet properly. Then, I was given a lavender scrub (also handmade) which she used to massage on my legs and feet. Felt wonderful after a day of walking! After that, Jenny painted my nails. She was of great help to my friend who is a bit indecisive when she was choosing her nail color. While my nails were drying, my clumsiness stubbed my toe and messed up the paint. Jenny was kind and patient enough to redo my toe. Overall my experience here was really great and relaxing. It's definitely not your typical nail salon where you sit in a row of massage chairs and stations, but their service is great and they take their time to really make you feel like royalty. Tip: Bathrooms are located outside of their store, so you'll have to ask for the key to use it. read more
