If you want to pursue a career in the arts, where you learn the ways of the old masters, and by…read morethat I mean learning how to REALLY draw, how to REALLY paint, how to REALLY sculpt then LAFFA is the school for you. No school now days will teach you how to draw and paint like Rembrant, Bougerou, Ingres, In fact many art schools now days do not teach you the most important concept of drawing and that is that in art learning is life long it does not end with a degree. LAFFA emphasizes that. Furthermore many art schools focus simply on art being just paint splattered on a canvas or some weird as hell sculpture that sells for millions and where the "artist" i.e. like KOONs and Andy Warhol do not even do any work at all. LAFFA is very much like how people back in the ECOLE Beux arts were taught, or how those in the high renaissance were taught, in the atelier style, by the end of one class you will have learned how to truly draw which is the basis of all art! The accreditation, accreditation is a good thing, however it will not mean you will magically teach you how to draw and paint, much like some assume a degree means. no a true artist has YEARS of practice and does not stop because a true artist knows that to be able to truly know that they are good at something, they must remember they always know nothing like the renowned cellist Pablo Casalas once said when he was asked at 93 why he still practiced the cello 3hours a day" i think i am finally improving" that is what you will see here TRUE MASTERS of the lost art of drawing and painting, modern day Bougerou's, Rembrants, Franz Hals, Titian, Ingress etc. Who embody the true spirit of the lost arts which many so called art schools sans Cal Arts and 3 kicks do not teach today. One teacher i highly recommend taking is Rey Bustos, he is harsh, he is firm but his passion will drive you. He is truly an amazing instructor.

As an example, the images attached show a before/after of a painting I did. The assignment was a self-portrait. This was my first time painting a portrait, and I was having significant trouble. After several hours of trying, and failing at home, I decided to wait until the next time I had class. When I got to class and asked for help, within fifteen minutes--literally--Melanie taught me the applicable knowledge, and some great advice that allowed me to immediately improve the painting to a satisfying outcome. Anybody interested in art is guaranteed to benefit from her classes. Her energetic passion for art is contagious. It is also very clear that she understands, and has the solution to many problems that an artist may face. She has an equal amount of patience and understanding for the beginner student as she does for her most advanced. She is very professional, yet has a genuine humility that creates an excellent learning environment. The knowledge and experience that I have gained through Melanie's classes have been priceless. Even art books, which are my other source of instruction, are so much easier to understand now. There are endless things that can be said about Melanie's dedication to her students, but what she has to offer must be experienced. So, if you are looking for a place that will provide the elements needed to improve your art skills, then M Florio Studio Arts should definitely be considered as a choice that will deliver that and so much more!

What ever level you are at, Melanie teaches to it. Best decision ever!!!! I used to paint in high school and in college. However, I haven't picked up a brush more than 3 times since I graduated 20 years ago. Melanie helped me to work through my nerves and pick up where I left off. While being in class I have heard lessons of technique in various styles of painting. I realized that throughout my life I pretty much self taught. I have been on a journey of unlearning bad habits and learning much better techniques. All facilitated through Melanie! The challenge is rewarding and I have come out with some of the best paintings I have ever done. Give her a chance and you'll never regret it!!!

They really nurture and just really motivate the children here. The art work that is done by students here is just fantastic. Michelle and her staff really take their time and gives attention to each student. In addition, Michelle is very quick and prompt and has wonderful communication. They are closed on Wednesdays but their class times and days are very flexible. They even offer a first time class as complimentary, the classes are 1.5 hours and 15mins prior to the class they have a showcase of all the childrens art that they completed that day and they talk about their success, this really allows the child to share what they thought was a success about their artwork. All in all I am very pleased, each student has their own work station, and each student is doing something different from water color to painting to drawing. Each student has their own unique style and Renaissance Fine Art really allows children that opportunity to give it their best. Prices are reasonable. Parking is ample, it's right in the Chi-chi's, Big Lots parking lot which shares with other businesses but definitely no issues with parking. Would recommend! Very pleased!

DONT WAST YOUR TIME. We took a pottery class with Biana at the end of September/early October 2025…read more At first, she seemed kind and personable, and the initial class itself was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the experience after the class was very disappointing due to a lack of professionalism and communication. It took a long time and multiple attempts to reach her to schedule glazing. After we completed glazing, I reached out again on December 17, 2025, to follow up about picking up our pottery. I received no response--no call, no text--until today, January 14, 2026. When she finally responded this morning, she asked whether we had even done our glazing, which was frustrating given the long delay. I attempted to call to arrange picking up my pottery, even in its unfinished state, but was told she was closing her shop and that I would need to reach back later in the evening. When I expressed my concerns about how long this process had taken and the lack of communication, I was met with dismissive comments and was even told that I was being "dramatic." This was especially upsetting, as communication was prompt at the beginning when payment was required. Due to the ongoing delays and poor communication, I no longer wish to retrieve my pottery. I am writing this review to share my experience so others are aware before booking. I also noticed another review describing similar issues, and I wish I had read it beforehand. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this studio. Sign up with Clay and Play instead!

There was no mention of any limit on group size or that she wouldn't be able to accommodate us again as a group. I reached out on 10/25 to schedule glazing and never received a reply. She finally responded almost a month later -- only to tell us we now need to come back in groups of just 1-4 people. This change was never communicated upfront and is completely different from the private group experience we originally booked. What's especially frustrating is that she was extremely quick to book us and take payment up front, but now that she already has the money, she won't even respond -- not to me, and not to the rest of my group who reached out separately. We're not asking for a refund; we already completed our session on 9/28. We just expected timely communication and the ability to finish our pieces the same way we started: together. The lack of communication, long delays, and sudden change in expectations made this experience disappointing and inconvenient. I hope the business becomes more transparent and responsive for future customers.

We were immediately greeted by our instructor Michael Falk. He's a very warm and personable military veteran. He was a big part of what made Paint Nite so fun! He kept things lively by cracking lots of jokes, made toasts throughout the night while wearing his kilt, and took his time to come to every painter to make sure everyone was having a good time. We painted "Galaxy At Pine Lake". As much as I love art, I can't do it if my life depended on it! Thankfully the painting was broken down into more-or-less easy parts to work on at a time so that by the end everything comes together. My painting still came out no better than a 10 year old's but I had a lot of fun! Paint Nite's so much fun and is definitely worth checking out if you're on a date, out with friends, celebrating your birthday, or just want something different to try. Everything's provided for you (paint, brushes, canvas, water, apron, paper towel) so all you need to bring is a positive attitude! Always show up early though so you can sit near the front and get some food/drinks before it starts!
