You'll also need to present a driver's license and proof of insurance for whoever is driving. ​Expect a bit of a wait, as carts are rented on a first-come, first-served basis (think of it like lining up for a popular amusement park ride), but it moves efficiently. ​The provided route instructions are clear and easy to follow, making the self-guided journey around the island a total blast. This is definitely an excursion worth doing on your own--highly recommend!

I've tried three different companies in total and have been most happy with Island Rentals and the Yamahas they rent out. Important note on rentals, you have to be at least 25. Their golf carts are gas powered and go a good speed, keeping in mind the speed limit is 15mph on the roads for them. They give you a very detailed map that is so helpful of exactly where you should be going. The entire path takes about an hour but you can pull off & sight see along the way. There are gorgeous views and terrain along the path! Island Rentals is nice because it's so darn close to the boat terminal so doesn't require a trek to rent. No reservations here - first come, first served and I have seen them 'sell' out in peak times. $70 for 1 hour hour and a $60 deposit for a second hour, you MUST bring cash and it's a two hour maximum. I'm headed back to Catalina Island next month and am SO excited to use Island Rentals again! A repeat customer is the best sign of a place being stellar.

They delivered different carts and they also broke down. I told our point of contact. The immediate response was to blame our use, saying we put stuff on that was too heavy so we damaged the battery. In their own words, they also stated they have not charged us for battery replacement. We have rented carts for 25+ years from golf cart vendors. Depending on location, we source locally.

They called me up to tell me and refunded it immediately. Wonderful people to work with and extremely honest and honorable. It was difficult to figure out exactly what I should book online so I went to the office to speak with someone. Jay was really helpful and told me right away the 15 passenger van was the next bigger vehicle and probably the best for my needs. I was ready to book through him but he said he would have to charge me a walk-in rate, which is apparently more expensive than booking online. This office is also closed on Sundays and he said I can return the van at another nearby office in Signal Hill that's open on Sundays. So helpful! Booking online was super easy. The staff were also really nice and helpful when I picked up the van. Daniel walked me to the van, he took some pictures and told me it just needs to be returned with 3/4 tank of gas, which is what it had. The van was clean and in good condition. He said, "You' may be small, but I have faith in you driving this!" LOL! It was awkward and a bit nerve racking driving it at first, but got used to it pretty quickly. Great visibility being higher up and with big windows. It's also really smooth and good on gas! It got us through the desert and was perfect for us for the week we needed it.

There were a couple cars available for me to choose between, he was patient and allowed me to sit in each car to see which I was comfortable in. Bryan was so patient. He even stated that at any time I was struggling with the car size I could exchange in for another within the same class, he wanted me to be comfortable. I had to call the office a few times with questions. I spoke with Umi who was so helpful and polite, very knowledgeable as was Bryan. Umi, took the time to call me and let me.know my rental had been extended to ease my mind while I shopped for another car. This office goes above and beyond to care for their customers. I used to be a Hertz customer but Bryan & Umi converted me into an Enterprise customer. Thank you both for everything. Yall made a stressful situation more bearable.
