Highly recommend for passport photos! Had a bad experience at Walgreens so chose to pop in here during my break at work. There's a mirror when you walk in and they helped me with fly aways, posing etc when I sat down. Very patient and kind. Fair price. I noticed this store while waiting for the express bus. Yes the place is pretty non-descript and a bit of a hole in the wall. And yes I definitely wouldn't have gone here had it been later in the evening or dark out. I went during day light so the shady vibe that's mentioned in various other reviews I guess I was fortunate enough to bypass? (That or I was just so focused on finding a screen protector.) I didn't need anything but a phone case and/or a screen protector. The case offered was flimsy in my opinion. He tried to upsell me on buying the case but my mind was made up and it wasn't to the point of my feeling badgered. With the screen protector, I WATCHED him (like a hawk stalking his prey) while he put it on the phone so there's no way something sketchy could be done. Two other guys were in there, one who just stared and another who was in back doing whatever business he was doing. (Not my circus, not my monkey.) The one up front putting on the screen protector was trying to get a return customer out of me but this was just a hit a run kind of trip to be honest. I didn't like that I had to request a receipt to show that the price was $14.99 and with taxes it was $16+. You make a purchase, you get a receipt. It wasn't the end of the world though. Once again BC to the rescue. I dropped my iphone on a business trip in such a way that no only did the screen break, but the home button was damaged. Not the end of the world but a pain in the ____. I thought I'd get it fixed locally while on my trip and the repair was so bad I had them put the old screen back on. They also told me the home button could not be salvaged. I instantly made a long distance phone call to BC who told me to wait till I returned to NYC and they'd fix both. Needless to say the BC tech and management are pure super stars. They saved my home button and gave me an awesome new screen for a very reasonable price. read more

DO NOT GO TO BC WIRELESS. This store sucks. I went in last month to have the trackball on my Blackberry replaced. They charged me $30 for it (and insisted on cash, but I didn't have the cash and begrudgingly accepting a credit card). I was referred here by the AT&T repair shop, who couldn't help me out b/c my warranty had already expired. Immediately, I noticed that the trackball was fine for scrolling up, but not in the other directions. The problem became worse and worse. A few weeks later, I return and asked them to take a look at it. They opened it up and actually made the trackball sensitivity worse! The worker said the only way to fix it is to have them replace this new trackball. For free (because you guys screwed up and didn't do your job the first time)? No. He tried to charge me. Then I complained and he offered it to me for $20. No thanks, and thanks for messing up my phone even worse. read more

I went there once to unlock my Sidekick that I bought online. I guess they do the job and it is not very expensive, but they are not very good at communicating: you have no idea what they are doing with your phone or why it is taking so long. Speaking of which, be prepared to wait. A lot. For your turn then for them to do what you paid for. Yes, you pay in advance. All in all, I must have spent at least one hour in their small shop. They also have some very "specific" customers, one lady asked for a full tutorial of Android after buying a phone; after 45 mn of explanations, she was still panicked and they told her to come back later. I guess some clients require a lot of time, but that was not very respectful of her towards the rest of us waiting. To conclude, they did what I asked them to do, but a friend also told me I could have done this by myself online. Next time I will try to do it without help. read more

What a great find. I was so fortunate that a great wine store on Madison Avenue suggested that I go to BC WIRELESS to fix my cell phone, which had seemingly died. BC was really excellent. They got my phone up and running in 24 hours and their fees are quite reasonable, I was really afraid to loose important info that I had stored on my phone. I breathed a sigh of relief today that I had access to my data and contacts. The 2 owners ,who are brothers, put you at ease, do a thorough diagnostic of your phone, and deliver. Good honest service at fair prices

I have had several wonderful experiences with BC Wireless. When my Samsung Galaxy Note II started to not be able to charge, I went to several stores for a replacement battery and external battery charger. No one had this (while I already own an external battery charger from the same issue with my Moment, the Note II's battery is HUGE), and Best Buy recommended that I go to BC Wireless. There, the underlying problem was diagnosed as a defective charging port. The new parts were ordered and I was told they'd be in in a few days. In the interim, they worked to make temporary repairs to my phone and actually had the battery charger and spare battery in stock! I used these until the charging port cable came in, and I went to the store close to closing time and they worked very hard to get my phone repaired. They also ordered a new case for me. This is a family business that's been in the same location for over 30 years. The store is bright and clean and the service is very efficient and friendly. I was treated like family. This is cash only for repair, but they take credit/debit cards for purchases and orders. The parts also came in before or on time. I feel that I can count on BC Wireless for all of my phone needs. read more

They said it will cost $70 to replace my iPhone's cracked screen. They fix it fast. They ask me if I want to put a screen protector on it and I said ok. After paying with my debit card, I see a $95 on the receipt!!! What kind of screen protector cost $25??? This guy kept saying to me: "we will give you a discount on it sir" and then I see a $95. I called another store with 4 stars reviews. They said it cost $59 +tax to get a new screen. So, I say their (BC) price is way better than Apple but there are stores with better prices. Trust this place implicitly! Been coming here for about 7-8 years with my own stuff and my clients (I help People use their e-devices). The staff solves problem that Apple, etc say are unfixable and at a reasonable price! Today they recovered and uploaded photos and videos from an iPhone4G to a memory card after Apple insisted they were too corrupt to transfer (i could view them just fine on the phone but could not upload them even when other objects before and after them uploaded just fine). Wow! What a relief! And all for the price of the mem card and a very reasonable service fee! And I can tell more stories like this - list data recovered, irreparable phones fixed and more - and always polite staff, reasonable prices disclosed in advance and a successful outcome. Terrific and friendly place. Both the Apple Store and Tekserve told me my iphone could not be repaired and had to be replaced. I was devastated as this phone is one I use in Indonesia since my business is based here and there. The contacts, etc were irreplaceable and not backed up properly. This place must have changed hands- They are the official rip off shop now! My two daughters had a bad experience: First a charge for $49 and no repair- just to look at the phone! After she was told that the charge for repair would be either $129 or $299. How can you agree to that? So she paid the service charge and left with a broken phone. Second - she paid for a new screen on a iPhone 6 , a day later screen is dark. Came back to the shop and we were told that they would charge us again for another screen- - Now we know why they have bullet proof glass on the counter- Just so the man behind it can be rude and treat customers with no respect. - I would never shop there again and I will tell everyone how rude they are and what a rip off shop they run. I refused to pay them anything more than what we did already and went to Apple Store . If you don't want to pay for nothing or you don't want to pay for repairs twice just avoid this shop and go to Apple. read more

No! No! They literally stole 120 dollars for me, I was on New York on vacation and my phone feel and my screen cracked! Desperate to fix it, I found this place as I was walking by. The guy told me they will fix my phone using original replacement and I wouldn't have a problem. Cool I accepted, like I said, I was desperate! Anyways, I accept the terms and came back two hours later, the phone looked great until.. two weeks later when the "original screen" started to detach from my phone. I took it to the Apple Store on order to maybe claim my guarantee. They took it to the back to diagnose it. The guy comes back and tells me they can apply the guarantee because the screen is not Apple approved and it was GLUED! When he lifted it I could see the glue in it, he said that I was lucky my phone didn't die all together due to the glue. So I had to pay Apple another 150 dollars to fix my phone. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, they are scammers. read more

I just happened upon this shop and needed to get my iPhone 6S screen replaced. Quick, effective and reasonably priced (the same as I have paid in the SF Bay Area). Of course, I have no idea of the strength of the glass in the replacement, but it looks good and responds to my finger touches. I'll try to not drop it. read more

I called the store asking to unlock my phone, the guy was very rude. He said he will program my iPhone 8 to put Turbo SIM card, Are you kidding me ?. I don't think you have any idea about programming!. He wants to charge $68 for Turbo SIM cost him $1 to buy! What a great business :) ! read more

My Sprint Samsung phone wasn't charging, so I went online 10/14/2014 to find a cell phone repair store near my office and I came across BC Wireless on 218 Madison Avenue. I went in and they said my charging port was broken, and they would have to replace my charging port but I would have to pay cash. Cash? This should have been a red flag, but in the interest of time, I agreed to get my phone "repaired." When I plugged my charger after the "repair", it did not charge. They told me I had the wrong charger (which is untrue, because it had worked on my phone for over a year prior to the replacement and was the **charger that Sprint itself gave me**). They charged the phone with a charger they were selling in the store, telling me it was working, and they tried to sell me that model charger but I declined, because I sensed that they deliberately replaced the port with a port specifically made for the charger they were selling in store and were trying to rip me off by forcing me to buy the charger as well as the charging port. To prove this, I went to the official Sprint store (something I should have done in the first place - live and learn) and had them use their **official** charger to charge my phone, and it would **not** charge. I repeat, the official diagnostic Sprint charger the technicians were using would not charge the phone. Sprint told me the charging port (mind you, this was the one BC Wireless put in) was defective. They quickly replaced it, and lo and behold, my original charger (the one BC Wireless said was the wrong charger) WORKED and the official diagnostic Sprint charger that didn't work on BC Wireless' replacement port also worked. To recap, BC Wireless either sold me a defective replacement charging port or replaced my port with one that was only compatible with a charger that they sold in store so that I would be forced to buy both. I went to Sprint, and they quickly told me the charging port BC Wireless sold me was defective, and within five minutes everything was fixed. I called BC Wireless, telling them about the problem - very politely I might add, and they denied any wrongdoing. They said they, and I quote, "did not care what Sprint thinks" (yes, apparently they think they know more about Sprint phones than Sprint itself) and refused to refund my money. The yelled at me on the phone, denying all wrongdoing. Beware. Don't cut corners like me, and don't trust sketchy wireless corner stores. Take the time to go to your official Apple, Sprint, ATT, Verizon service provider, even if you have to wait in line. read more

I had charging problem with my phone back in August. Now I know that it was just a simple battery problem(I just had to replace the battery).....but when I went there, they charged me $40 dollar for diagnosis, and ended up not giving a straight explanation as to why my phone was still charging off too quickly. They just reset my phone and deleted all my app, and told me it's not a bit faster. When I got home, I got a new problem which was, my charger adaptor port thing..stopped working.. I took it back and told them I got a new problem right after I got my phone back from them. but they just started to talk aggressively and took no responsibility at all. I mean..I wasn't trying to blame them, I just wanted to get my phone fixed...and that's what I said, but their attitude was horrible...I understand, that It might have not been their fault(I said), and I wouldn't have minded for extra charge if it wasn't for their attitude. At the same time, I had completely lost trust in them after realizing all they care about is money and not trying to fix the problem straightforward. With no solution, I went to Verizon and the first thing they recommend was to try new battery and so I found out what the problem was, with no charge, and in less them 5 min. If they were really competent repairers, they should have known what the problem was in the first place (old battery....i mean..it's such a simple soultion, and yes I was stupid to not try this before I took it them) Also, somewhere in that aggressive talk, they told me that even Verizon stores sell fake batteries and chargers and that only HIS store sells the original products...well..ok...wth? Also, I had to pick up my phone twice, and at first time, he made me wait for 1hour at the store. Second time, I told him to give me a call when he's done with my phone so that I dont have to wait like the first time, and HE FORGOT to call me. I don't recommend this place. Ignore this other user. These guys go over backwards to help you get your phone unlocked and give you the correct codes even if you have a problem. And, no, I don't work here. One of the few places in the City that will unlock most smartphones and other phones so that you can use them on any GSM mobile carrier. They only charged me about $10 bucks. Will definitely go back as they unlocked two of my phones. Try them out!!! read more

Very knowledgable and detail oriented. I liked them. This is an independent wireless store, not a big telco company store. They do stuff here like unlock phones and cut sim cards, etc., as well as sell accessories and stuff. Just be warned if you think you are going to a fancy big three showroom. This place isn't that. One more tip I give you. If you ever decide for some reason to go to this shop use your credit card as a form of payment. Great Great service. I broke my iphone6 within the first week of when it came out and I had a case. I waited for Verizon to send me a replacement since I had insurance however the phones were on back order and Verizon did not have an eta. So after 3 weeks on being back on my iphone4S i brought it to BC for repair. I took the phone in around 930am and had they called me around 330pm the same day. Service again was excellent and I didn't mine paying Cash. Chase Bank is a block away and so are other banks, plus they have an ATM inside their building. Definitely will recommend friends/colleagues to them for iphone repair. I saw other reviews about paying cash but who cares. Haven't you been to cash only restaurants? This is NY. read more

Great service! Went in to get my sim card cut and had to get my phone jailbroken as well. And they did both. I had a newer phone and didn't know if they could jailbreak it. But they did and it works great. They do only take cash however, they have an ATM on premises so it isn't a big deal. Only took about 2 minutes to get the SIM card cut and about 30 minutes to jailbreak the phone. They were quick and efficient. 5 Stars! read more

First off, I really liked the cheerful owner of this store who was very charming. I came in on the advice of T-Mobile to get my Verizon phone unlocked to put my TM sim card in. They unlocked it for 30.00 and for ten dollars set up internet. Since it was near closing time I didn't have it tested. The internet was not connected when I got home so I could not set up gmail (as he promised I would be able to) and I was unable to receive phone calls. When I came in on Monday November 10th 2012, he explained the switch had to be on GSM for it to work, because I had only asked to have the phone unlocked he felt he didn't have to do it which I thought was a bit cheeky. I asked him to set it right as promised. When I came in a couple of hours later I was a bit shocked to be slapped with a 30.00 fee since he didn't understand why it wasn't working so he had to do research and download the Verizon Handbook. Again, I really liked the guy, the place was not shady, and accepted my credit card. I just strongly feel if you bring in something to be done if he doesn't know how to do it a customer shouldn't have to pay for the learning curve. read more

Just had my phone fixed yesterday by them. My galaxy note 3 was having charging problems for a few days. Went to AT&T and they I said would have to pay 200 to replace the entire phone and it would take 5 business days to get it. I was referred to them and got the part fixed within 30 minutes and it was only 90. To have your phone fixed they same day and it not take hours is a miracle! Especially in NY! Went on a wild goose chase to 7 places (Duane reade, cvs, FedEx, us Post office etc.) for a consulate photo and FINALLY got success here. He even retook the photo until not a hair was out of place. People were coming in and out to deal with broken iPhone screens as well. The owner was incredibly nice and honest. read more

This place is a complete scam! DO NOT USE THEM! I went in to them to get my digitizer and screen replaced. While doing the repair, they actually used broken parts! Over the course of a month, I had several issues with the digitizer so I finally decided to go in and have them take a look. They had the nerve to tell me that I either dropped my phone or pressure (yes, actual air pressure...the pressure that our phones deal with everyday) caused the screen to crack and that it was my fault! Again, avoid this place at all costs. It is a complete and utter scam. read more
