Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE household/home goods stores and kitchen wares, particularly…read more I'm not an adventurous cook but I LOVE cooking shows and I aspire to be better, always better. For me, home decorating and organizing is fun, and cooking and baking are fun. So it goes without saying that I ADORE stores like this, that has all the tools - and then some - for cooks and bakers. I was here before Christmastime and, wow, they had SO many awesome gift ideas for people who cook or who like gourmet foods, or special gadgets, or smaller home decor items. I was overwhelmed, to be honest, wandering about like a kid in a huge candy store. So many things that I didn't even know what they were, very niche ingredients and kitchen tools. gorgeous linens, imported foods and specialty ingredients. You'd be hard-pressed to NOT find any kitchen item you are in the market for here. I liked the lay-out of this place, too. Despite it being cavernous inside (it IS a warehouse, after all!), it's laid out in a welcoming way, with various delineated areas, wide-ish aisles, and helpful staff around to ask questions if needed. I also liked that there is a large parking lot here, too (shared with the adjacent No Frills). Bonus! My one caveat: unlike the other folks who've written reviews of this place, I found the prices of items here to be on the high side. Granted, they are were very niche and/or high-end and /or imported and all were of high high quality (big names, well-reputed brands). But pricey. Granted, I visited here at prime shopping season; perhaps they have sales at other times of the year. That said, even with the high prices, I still purchased some gifts that I've not seen elsewhere, and for specialty, unique items, I think it's worth it. Even if you aren't a cook or baker or "foodie", this place is still worth a visit, just to wander and be amazed at what's out there. This is an amazing place. And you never know what you'll discover!

Would give 6 stars if I could. I called in a large and…read moreunique order and Jorge was so kind and accommodating. Note: they deliver to your house great, I've used it many times, but you miss out on walking around this epic store full of the best of everything and anything kitchen and bar related. This is the big leagues folks. Thanks again!

It's really nothing special at all…read more It kind of has a feel of an outlet - meaning it just feels like there is just a bunch of "stuff" on their shelves - and nothing really stands out. If you're looking for a SPECIFIC something for your home, then this isn't a bad place. I just wouldn't come here to buy more than one or two things that I need.

Oy Vay! This weekend…read moreI decided to go Christmas shopping with my hubby to add to our home decor. We were in White Rock to visit family and came across the HomeSense. Understanding HomeSense to be one of the best places to shop, we walked in to check it out. Upon browsing we came across a cute little snowman ornament priced at 5$ (expensive for just one decorative item!) - the upsetting part was that it was damaged (button missing and red glue spots) visibly and there didn't seem to be any others on display. I tracked down a sales rep and asked her if they had any more of the ornaments in stock to replace the damaged one, unfortunately, she said that all they had was on the floor. Disappointed, but in love with the little snowman, I hummed and hawwed, trying to justify to myself the spending of more money on a simple, but damaged ornament. I asked the sales rep if she thought they could offer a discount and she said yes, and to ask for it at check out. I decided I would see if they could discount it and I would try to repair it on my own. Upon arriving to the check out, I told the cashier told them the scenario, then asked if they could a) discount the item or b)order more in. The manager then came over, refused to look at me, looked at the snowman with disgust and said they wouldn't discount it because it was ONLY five dollars (their stated price) and that it was already cheap (Um- $5 for a single seasonal ornament is PRETTY PRICY to common folk if you ask me!, Hello Walmart?!) , followed by the statement that if she would discount it (but she was choosing not to) it would only be for 50 cents. THEN she went into a whole statement about how they receive items as damaged all the time, that they weren't damaged in-store so its not their fault and they should have to face financial loses because they sell damaged items at full price. .... WOW is right. BUT WAIT! THERES MORE! After being appalled (and somewhat shocked!) that a manager just plainly stated that they don't value their products, view lesser priced items as insignificant and that they routinely sell DAMAGED GOODS AT FULL PRICE, I asked if they could order a non damaged one in for me to purchase. Without any hesitation she said no, and that they don't do that for their customers. So- a company that doesn't care about customer satisfaction either?! Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything and with no intention to come back since they had such poor customer service, company values/morals and view a 5$ price point for a SNOWMAN ORNAMENT as too low value and quality. Looks like I will only be shopping at PIER 1 from now on.

I cherish retail, know times are hard, and wish the manager (owner?) seemed more aware that customer happiness is, kind of, pivotal. She is bitter and prideful - her own worst enemy. Suggest she find therapy, self-love, and forgiveness, or be bought-out. A friend I dined with recently said he found her (thinking it's the same person) to be "miserable". Peace.

A retail space in the beautiful new Atrium it's bathed in light with high ceilings and almost floor to ceiling glass front windows. With cooking classes, and a full kitchen, this is sure to become a great spot to spend your time. They have a ton of excellent quality kitchen tools, a small but good selection of cook books (unless I maybe missed some?) and a lovely selection of locally produced food items. I chatted with a really friendly girl at the counter about how their new shop was doing and she was excited to tell me about their success and the things they offered. I somehow managed to leave empty handed, but this is a great new addition to the Victoria food scene, and sure to inspire curious cooks to be more creative, better equipped, and very well fed. They are embracing local food, seasonal ingredients, and looking to serve the local food community, which earns them a solid five stars.
