And I will always spend money on the excellent peppermint bark during the holidays. The people working here are always nice and friendly and super helpful. They also know how to leave you alone when you tell them you're just looking. I'm sure they're used to browsers. The store is organized well and has a lot of different items. I bought a candy bar and wanted to redeem the free coffee included with my IKEA Family membership. The cashier asked if I had the app to scan, and I told her I didn't have it available and asked if she could use my phone number instead. She initially told me no. I explained that I come here regularly and other employees have always been able to look up my membership using my phone number. She then rudely told me, "I'll do it for you this time, but next time you need to have the app because they might stop taking phone numbers." What bothered me is that IKEA's own website specifically says that if you don't have your digital IKEA Family card available, you can provide your phone number or email address at checkout. I wasn't asking her to make an exception for me. I was using an option IKEA itself tells customers they can use. I didn't get the cashier's name, but she was a white woman with dark hair and was wearing a hat, in case management wants to identify who was working at the restaurant register at the time. This happened Friday, 9/25, at 2:35 pm. The coffee obviously isn't the issue. It was the unnecessary attitude and being made to feel like I was asking for special treatment when I was simply following IKEA's stated policy. I normally enjoy coming here, so hopefully the restaurant staff can be better informed about the IKEA Family policy and communicate with customers more respectfully.
