I highly recommend Shear Fire! It has been my go to salon for over 10 years. My husband and I are…read morealways happy with the service and our haircuts. It is always easy and convenient to walk in and get great service!

Please. Please don't go to this place if you're reading this and if you care about your hair…read more I only went there because I got a gift certificate from my cousin. It was for a student haircut+highlights. I told them that I would like to pay extra and get highlights done by professional and they agreed. I also asked them if they don't mind me bringing my puppy in a crate while getting my hair done since it will take a while (2 hours). They said okay, which I really appreciated. I have naturally dark hair, and I told them I don't want to bleach my hair but just give it a little difference. They said they cannot do it without bleaching my hair. I said but I have done it by other salon and they did it with reddish brown. They said they don't have the product to do it in that way. So I said okay, then I will bleach and go for dark brown highlights. The hairdresser even showed me color panel and I chose BROWN. And I specifically told her "I do NOT want RED" with pointing at the RED color on that panel. When they were washing my hair after bleaching was done, several random workers came to me and kept complimenting how pretty my hair color is. I thought that was very strange. Why are they here all at sudden and complimenting about the color? They didn't even seem to actually liking my hair, not even a bit. I got nervous. I looked into the mirror and saw RED highlights all over my head. I was shocked and told them my hair looks RED. The girl who was cutting my hair said it's because of the light and once it dries out it will become subtle. The professional also told me it will become subtle once it dries out. I thought maybe they are right, and paid them, gave them tips, and came back home. It never got subtle. Under the sunlight, my hair was even horribly brighter RED. I cried, then I called them and talked with the owner. Somehow she was mad from the beginning before I even got to speak to her, and told me she was being nice to me letting my dog being in the shop, and she has to pay $100+ money to that professional, because I used the student gift certificate. Well, why didn't they tell me not to bring my dog into the shop if she wasn't gonna happy about it, and wasn't that certificate bought with money from my cousin? Didn't I pay the extra to get it done by professional which was $70+ plus $20 as a tip??? Then she said she's gonna hang up since she HEARD me I want RED so I got red, and there's nothing to argue about it. I told her PLEASE don't hang up, listen to me, I never said I want RED, when you guys said you have to bleach my hair I told the professional I want BROWN, not RED. The owner didn't even try to listen to me. She constantly said things while I was trying to say something. She didn't even give me a time to say anything, and kept telling me about how much money she has to pay the professional(which was paid by me and my cousin), then just hung up. She told me about the money at least five times. Ha! It almost sounded like they get complaints all the time and this is the way how she handles them every time. Is there a complaint handle book or something like that??? NEVER listen to the customer's complain, cover it up with your own words by talking on top of customer's talking, tell the customer she/he got what they wanted, and hang up. I thought I was in a kindergartners fight scene. I really don't know what to do with my hair. My eyes are just full of tears. My hands are shaking from how I was treated by the owner. What I wanted to hear was sorry, and to give me some suggestions how to correct this color, willing to fix it, or at least give me a refund what I paid extra for. I did read the low star reviews before went there but didn't expect this to happen to me as well.... I really hope this helps the future customers. Please. Stay away from this place.

I hate my hair. I am so mad . It is absolutely horrible…read more I will never go back. If my hair was not bad enough tge place looked like it was abandoned and had not been cleaned in a year.

I give this place credit for offering cheap, high quality haircuts. Was willing to try them out for…read morecolor, however I ran into a a few scheduling issues with the front desk. I had been waiting for three weeks for my hair coloring appointment. I had a lot going on at the time, and misremembered the time. It was set for 9, but I remembered it as 10. At 9:55, I called and said I was on the way and about the park, but might be five minutes late. The front desk girl cheerily reassured me that was fine. I arrive at 10, no one at the front desk. After about ten minutes, the receptionist came out, seemingly confused. She took my name and said the appointment was actually at 9, and they'd sent thr hairdresser home because I didn't show up. I stared at her blankly. Got the vibe she was just there to get a discount on shampoo and collect a paycheck. I understand coming in late was my mistake, but usually salons call you if you're fifteen minutes late. I received no call. Not only that, but when I called the morning of, the receptionist had no idea what was going on or who I could be, showing how clueless she was. So. I get rescheduled for three weeks down the line. I'm sad at this point because I really need my hair fixed, and getting appointments for Saturday is difficult. She SAYS she schedules me, and tells me ill get a confirmation text. Fast forward three weeks to the day before the appointment, I have no confirmation. I call them asking what happened, and if I still ha e my appointment. The receptionist has no record of it and says "well the people scheduled for Saturday had done so a month in advance." Mmmk? So did I? Lavendar, maybe hire competent employees to deal w scheduling. The current crew gives off ditzy, clueless teenage girl vibes. It isnt thst hard to schedule hair appointments. Will not be returning.

These guys are awesome…read more Since moving to Alaska in 2015, I've only done my hair twice, because as every woman knows, finding a new salon that you can trust NOT to screw up your hair is nerve wracking AF. The only other hair salon in Alaska I've tried is Salon Ivy in Anchorage. Now that I've found this salon, don't think I'll be back to the other place. These guys are a full service salon and my stylist even jokingly referred to their shop as the only "Old Lady Salon" in town because they're the only ones that do the shampoo and set. Anyway, for my purposes today, I decided to take a BIG step and chop a bunch of my hair off. The stylist Rayna was exceedingly patient and helpful in discussing with me options for how I might want my hair to look. Having fine hair but lots of it makes for a tangled up nightmare when it gets too long....not to mention all the shedding. Rayna helped me come up with a good haircut that will give my hair lots of body, while being easy to manage. In a normal setting, I'd have done either a partial or full set of highlights but that wasn't needed today because I'd recently done my own hair. Rayna did show me some great options for highlights in the future should I decide to use them for that service. The shop itself is pleasant. The owner Noel is also extremely nice and easy to talk to. This salon is perhaps one of the most relaxing salons I've been in, largely because both stylists are kind, they listen while giving thoughtful suggestions, and they're super down to earth and easy to talk to! One thing I'd like to say about Rayna in particular is that she has a very nice, relaxing way of working with your hair. She's gentle, very careful about NOT pulling your hair--which is fantastic when you're tender-headed like me lol--AND, she gave me the BEST scalp massage while washing and conditioning my hair that I've ever had! It is rare to find a stylist with a nice touch that doesn't manage to pull or tug on your hair at least once or twice, but Rayna never once hurt me. I'd really recommend her for people with tender heads. All in all, I came away from here very happy with my cut and general experience. Highly recommend to anyone! 10/10
