I cannot express in words my gratitude for Mr. and Mrs. Bowers. They have been working with my son Noah for three years. It is one of the best things I could've done for him. Not only have they worked with him on schoolwork but they have built a strong foundation for him to succeed in the future. His confidence levels have gone up greatly. They instill with discipline and kindness, invaluable skills like organization and time management. They have taught him several life skills in addition to tutoring him in mathematics, and other subjects. This duo is excellent at what they do and my son is benefiting from their years of experience. If you are looking for a tutor virtually or online, do not look any further. We love the Bowers, they are family to us. read more

My child's experience at BBC was incredible! Mrs. B was my child's tutor, and she had so many priceless and amazing traits about her that made her a great tutor. She was good at comparing things to nature to make my child understand. Thanks to her, my child returned telling me all these beautiful comparisons of nature and tests. She is also very humorous. She got my child cracking up and truly enjoying sessions. And, gosh, she is amazing at teaching time management. Mrs. B came up with a whole schedule for my child to work on. One of the most valuable characteristics about Mrs. B is her patience. She sits though the session and does her best to make the child understand, and is very thorough, cuts down to the foundation, and starts everything from the beginning. Mrs. B was essential in my child's academic success, and my family is grateful to her.... a LOT!! Thank you Mrs. B for truly caring about children and being such a great teacher! read more

Our two kids have been working with Mrs Bowers for many years to improve their writing, as well as for summer course applications. She helped my son to brainstorm ideas for personal statement, and flexible to schedule follow-on sessions. She's patient, encouraging, and provides insightful thoughts, resulting great work. Mrs Bowers is the best! We also occasionally worked with Mr Bowers. He's really wonderful as well. Both of them sincerely care about kids. Highly recommend BBC tutoring! read more

I would recommend Mrs Bowers for tutoring. Our daughter, in 8th grade was in the midst of trying to keep up with Algebra and prepare of the HSPT. Mrs B worked with us on a plan to help our daughter navigate through both and helped to instill some necessary problem solving and organizational skills that are much needed to be successful in math. Thank you Mrs. B! read more

BBC Tutoring can be best described as Mary Poppins meets Winston Churchill. I am recommending Tim and Patricia Bowers, not as a parent, but as a former student. They will analyze and weed out negative habits, then build you back up, and you will thank them for it. Tim and Patricia Bowers never give up on a student's ability to learn. What makes them unique is that they do it with genuine caring and a sense of humor. BBC Tutoring does not just teach academics and standardized tests, it teaches students to think critically. If you struggle to think critically, trust me, you will learn. Critical thinking is absolutely necessary to be successful in today's workforce. The pursuit of excellence will build character and hence confidence. Mary Poppins and Winston Churchill would be proud! read more

I would highly recommend BBC Tutoring for HSPT prep. Both Mrs. B and Mr. B took great effort in getting my son ready for the high school entrance exams this year. Although we started his sessions with them quite late in the year, they were quickly able to gauge his level and guide him accordingly. They had him take many practice tests and also educated him about good test taking strategies. They kept the sessions fun enough that he never complained about his lessons with them. In fact he seemed to enjoy them. At the end of it all, I am happy to say that he got accepted to the three private schools that he applied to. I will definitely go to them for further tutoring help in the future. read more

Patricia and Tim Bowers have tutored my high school daughter for two years. Before that we had used a variety of support services for her with mixed degrees of success. The Bowers came highly recommended and tutored my daughter during her junior and senior years. They tutored her in any class that she needed assistance. In addition to helping her learn the material and be successful in the class they also focused on the learning process. Our long-term goal was from my daughter to become more independent and ultimately responsible for her own learning. It has been wonderful to see her mature into a more confident learner who is prepared to enter college. read more

Mrs. Bowers is an excellent tutor who helps my two kids' applications to private high schools. With high quality and flexible tutor sessions, my kids can improve their HSPT scores to another level. And we also appreciate Mrs Bowers's guidance on essays. My kids love her humorous style to make learning easier with great results. My family is grateful to her help and would absolutely recommend Mrs. Bowers. read more

Our son studied with Mr and Mrs B to prepare for his HSPT exam. To put it mildly he was far from his target score at the beginning. The Bowers did a great job of meticulously working through the course material encouraging him and building his motivation and belief to succeed as he went. By the time the test came around he was feeling confident and ready. Ultimately our son scored well above expectations and was accepted to Mitty. He couldn't have done it without the Bowers. read more

Mr. and Mrs. B, as they preferred to be called, are the absolute best. They are the most capable and dedicated educational support system you could ever want. They helped me apply to colleges and prepare for my SAT/ACT exams in 2012 to great success! They will ensure you are the most prepared for your college (undergraduate or graduate) applications as you can be to get into your dream school! I would absolutely recommend them over any tutoring services I have used like AJ Tutoring, Kaplan, Magoosh, or Wyzant. You will be greatly satisfied read more

Both Mr. and Mrs. Bowers are the two greatest teachers I've ever met. They both have assisted many children and teens in one on one education, teaching them beyond education. They have instilled philosophies in life that will be remembered forever read more

Mrs. Bowers worked patiently for several months with our daughter for the HSPT. Our daughter has some learning disabilities but BBC's method and diligence paid off. We are thrilled with the results! read more

I was having a awful problem with geometry and trigonometry. I thought that I was just stupid. I did very well in all my other classes, so I couldn't figure out why I was doing so poorly in these subjects (I had done fine in Algebra). When I started working with Mrs. Bowers, I learned that there are a number of different ways of learning---and, if YOUR way isn't the same as the teacher's, you're just not going to get it---it's not your fault. "Mrs. B" discovered that my way of learing is by "doing"--not "watching", or "listening", and that by "doing", I could pick up the missed areas very quickly. She is VERY helpful, VERY patient, and has a wonderful British accent! She has become a very dear friend---I'm told, by other former students, that they stay good friends long after ther have no longer need her tutorship. She is truly "a dear"! I didn't need help in English, Social Studies, or languages, but I have heard that Mr. Bowers is an excellent tutor in those areas. (Also, I've learned that they now have additional, carefully-trained assistants, who tutor under their careful guidance). Your kids couldn't be in better hands that studying with the Bowers! read more

I am a former student of Mrs. Bowers and I couldn't have picked a better tutor to help me get into my first choice college. I am currently a student at the four year university of my choice and excelling thanks to Mrs. B. During the application process, she helped me revise and perfect my personal statement as well as other essay questions I filled out. The biggest difference came in my SAT scores which were raised over 300 points. Her genuine personality and undeniable passion for what she does made going to tutoring something I looked forward to. She really invests her time and effort into each student and will work until the goal is met. I loved my time at BBC and still keep in touch with the Bowers to this day. Overall, an amazing family business and the best personal tutoring you will find in the Bay Area. read more

Mrs. B was crucial in helping our son realize his potential in 5th grade.  We received his end of quarter grades and were unpleasantly surprised. He received low grades in neatness and writing. His teacher also gave negative comments about how our son is a leader, but is steering students in the wrong direction. We were so blessed to find Mrs. B.  At her first glance of my son's school work, Mrs. B looked at him in her friendly, but serious manner and asked if he knew his work was a reflection of himself. This question got our son thinking. She crafted her sessions with my son to show him how to neatly redo incorrect problems on his math test: on graph paper and using a straight edge ruler.  Upon showing me his work from his session, my son told me he actually liked the work, even though it was hard and time consuming. She also gave him study skills for his social studies test. He enjoyed bringing his test home from school with an AMAZING great grade.  His handwriting was legible!  Our son's teacher remarked she is seeing him more focused and wanting to work hard. He is immediately following her directions, showing a good example to the other students. Thank you Mrs. B!  Our family is on a great trajectory for the New Year. I know who to reach out to if we need support in the future. read more

My daughter attended BBC Tutoring to prepare for HSPT exam. She had a great a time learning from Patricia and Tim Bowers. They were very helpful and methodical. The one -on-one teaching helped my child a lot. She had lots apprehension about the comprehension part of the test, and she got a lot of practice in this area. Also Patricia helped my daughter in her essay questions. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Mrs B is a gem ! She started tutoring my son when he was in second grade on math and language arts. Tutoring a 7 year old is often a challenge but she has always been able to maintain her calm composure and make the lesson as fun and easy to understand as possible. I love her "going back to basics" teaching style for math and she ensures your child understands the concept and builds upon that - nothing like the common core method used today. read more

I wish I could give 20 starts for Patricia Bowers, as she deserves every one of them! My son worked on his college essays with Patricia this fall, and got into his top schools. She helped him organize his work, prep for every essay for every school and keep a timeline of all due dates. She made writing the essays easy and fun (who can say that about college essays?). My son enjoyed each and every session he had with Patricia and always came home with interesting new facts about college life that he had learned fron her!! Her sense of humor and her genuine affection for the kids is wonderful. She absolutely wants the kids to succeed, and she is willing to do anything to help them. I have two more boys to go through this process, and you can bet they will all be meeting with Patricia! She is an absolute gem and a real pleasure to work with!! I look forward to working with her again. read more

Patricia and Tim are as good as it gets. Both of my children have used their tutoring services. From high school placement testing to SAT's and to college entrance exams essays. They worked as a great team to insure that both of our children's needs were met. We will be returning again for SAT prep for one child and GRE prep for another. BBC Tutoring is the place to go for your child's tutoring need. read more

If you are considering a tutor/teacher, look no further, for BBC Tutoring is a gift you will give to your children. Patricia & Tim Bowers are the most brilliant teachers I have ever met. The Dynamic Duo truly have a vocation, love of knowledge, and love of children. They taught/tutored each of my four children from second grade at St. Lucy through high school at St. Francis & Presentation.(From 1998-2011) Tim & Patricia not only taught the basics, they tutored each one of my children for the entrance exams for high school, SAT's, ACT's and College Essays. This is a fact...there is no finer English tutor or teacher than Patricia Bowers ANYWHERE!!!. Patricia's written word and command of the English language, are surpassed by none. Tim Bowers?? Tim's comprehension, love and mastery of History is passed on to his students. I personally witnessed all my sons transformation in falsely believing History was boring to a love of knowledge that stays with them to this very day. My children are all adults now, however they still call Mr. & Mrs. Bowers every few months to check in and share the latest books read. Patricia and Tim will change your childrens life!!! read more
