This is an excellent meat-oriented restaurant. It's located a few kilometers outside of Beaune, on the way to the Ouche valley. It could be seen as a "destination" restaurant if you're not staying in the immediate area, but it's really not that far, and it's very much worth the trip.
In the restaurant, which is decorated with sleek, white walls, there are large format photographs mounted throughout. These are really great, almost ironic, close up pictures of the local white Charolais cattle.
Reservations are mandatory, as sometimes it's closed for special events. Rather, the chef and owner are away cooking at pop-up events, as near as I can tell from what others explained. In any case, after a couple of misses, we felt very fortunate to be able to eat there near the end of our stay in the area.
The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, with a feeling that everyone in there felt fortunate to be partaking of the excellent cuisine on offer.
I had a beef dish cooked with a mushroom (cep) sauce, and the combination with the bottle of velvety Monthelie was beyond description. I think it was the best meal of the trip. read more
