With few options for dinner on a Sunday night in Beaune, we were fortunate enough to discover Le Monge serving dinner (and without a reservation!). The description of pizza sounded refreshing, as I was a bit tired of French cuisine at this point in my trip. I don't think a description of pizza does Le Monge justice, as the restaurant is much nicer than simply pizza, and they have lots of other options to try as well (including traditional French). For dinner I selected a small side salad and the campagna pizza which was delicious! It was larger than a lot of the portions I had seen in France before, and certainly large enough to share between two people. It had several kinds of cheese along with prosciutto. The combination of cheeses makes the pizza quite rich and creamy. My husband had the menu selection (which came with an appetizer of 6 escargot, beef bourguignon, and fruits for dessert). He enjoyed his selection as well. I would definitely stop in Le Monge for a meal and expect friendly servers, quick service and great food. read more

I tried several items from the menu, to be honest there was nothing outstanding, it was all very mediocre. Staff were friendly, typical french style, stops serving food at 2pm for the afternoon. Although nothing was great. It wasnt poor either, if you're looking for gourmet food this is not the place. read more

We really liked this place - great food and drinks. Located in the heart of town, it was great to walk to. The staff was friendly, a bit standoffish, but that seems to be the norm in France. We ordered the mustard chicken and beef bourguignon, and they were good, but lacking a bit in salt. Overall, good place for a lovely dinner. read more

Many people during this weekend, but we were able to takes lunch for 6. Everything was fine except wine "Rosé de Provence " bit it was a wrong idea to takes wine not coming from another region. So, andouillette, bavette, pizza were tasty, tatare not so much. Everyone agrees that it's a very good adresse and expect to be able to come back when located at Beaune. Enjoy your meals. read more

We chose this restaurant due to its decent reviews and proximity to where we were staying in the city. We were promptly greeted upon entering and were seated immediately. Things were off to a good start until after our starters arrived. I was craving French Onion soup and I was overjoyed that they had it on their menu. The soup was delicious, 4 stars if I was just rating that part of the experience. After our starters were cleared and my partners wine glass empty, we sat and waited for well over 30 minutes for our main courses to arrive. We were the first people seated in our section and by this time everyone around us had received their mains (they also had starters), the couple next to us had finished eating their meals before ours arrived. We tried to get someone's attention during this time but we were ignored. When our food finally arrived, mine was cold. Overall very disappointing experience and we will not be back. read more

Hidden gem in Beaune! Stopped by here driving from Lyon to Paris and ordered the Omelette. One of the best omelettes I have ever had in my life--no joke. Looking through the menu the prices seem to be a good price/value. Highly recommended read more

We stumbled across this restaurant when we were walking in the downtown area of Beaune. I had been wanting to have some authentic Beef Burgundy. This place didn't disappoint. The service was slow, French style, but courteous. Had escargot still in the shells. Very good. read more

Beautiful restaurant! I had the lasagna which was good-tasted like what your mom would make! My husband got the pizza that was undercooked in the middle...he wasn't a fan but everyone else at our table enjoyed their entree. read more

A very good restaurant. We were looking for a good lunch at a reasonable price, and Le Monge delivered on both counts. We walked by around 11 am, and made reservations for the terrace for 1 pm. After walking the ramparts for two hours, we were hungry. My wife had the boeuf bourguignon a la carte, which was huge, and I ordered the formule dejeuner with entre, plat de jour, dessert, and cafe. The plat de jour was cabillaud (cod) in a citron vert sauce that was absolutely delicious. The sauce was amazing and the fish was cooked to perfection. The boeuf bourguignon was great, and too big to finish. We enjoyed a long, wonderful meal, and I am still dreaming about that wonderful citron vert sauce. read more

We made an evening reservation for outside dining but when we arrived we were put inside in a hot room with hardly any AC. The personnel was rude and rather unfriendly when we pointed this out. The food was only so so and the service very silent though we speak French fluently. There are way better places in Beaune like l'Ardoise or la Ciboulette where people do their very best to bridge the language gap. read more
