    Creme brûlée

I went here over a year ago and I still think about how the food here was amazing. I haven't found beef Bourguignon this good anywhere else. It was also our first time trying escargot and it was so tasty! We weren't sure where to go it was our first time in the city and another couple suggested it. We loved the atmosphere my husband and I sat outside and our server was awesome and also spoke English because my French is really rough! I wish I lived here I would frequent it every week!

Nice looking place with great ambiance and a terrific efficient server. Great wine selection including by the glass Salad was fresh. Fish and chips ; good chips but the fish was frozen kind that was very over coated with batter.

As Michelin diners - we enjoyed 3 - yes three meals here when we wanted bistro style dining. The Salade Nicoise is one the two best in central Beaune. The Fish & Chips are a good sized portion of fish, lightly fried, & perfectly prepared. Avoid sharing food or splitting plates as it is considered rude in France. Two of our 5 diners did so on the first course and we waited an inordinate amount of time for our food (second visit).

    Escargot. Seriously good!

Fantastic classic Burgundy fare with great service. We had cancelled most reservations while we were there and opted to cook in and relax. I wanted to go somewhere for lunch where we could sample some of the better food of the region from poached eggs, escargot, and beef borg. I'm glad we stopped there. Fantastic food! We ordered 50cl of wine and made an afternoon of it! This was the first time I have had escargot and now I feel as though I've been missing out for the past thirty years. Definitely recommended!

Stopped by Le Carnot for lunch while in Beaune. This was one of those places where I should have thought twice. They rate 3.5 stars but are definitely closer to 3. Fish and chips were average at best. Service was ok. Next time in Beaune I'll look for another lunch spot.

Everyone in my group had a more exciting meal than me....chicken livers was the choice of one person who said they were divine, someone else got the escargot who was in snail heaven, and the other ordered the poached eggs in the burgundy sauce and he was savoring every drop. I ordered a salad to try to make up for the meals I ate the day before. It was lack lustre. Our wine was great as well as the service and atmosphere of the place. I would go back for sure.

Excellent service, owner was our waiter, and he was amazing. He let us use his internet service for a night. Food outstanding.

Thus, I ordered a green salad (not on the menu) and a creme brulee. My green salad came with my bf's appetizer, which is a homemade parsley ham, that tastes more like a pate. I had a taste if it and it almost made me hate my green leaves with white dressing on it. I couldn't hate it though cuz although the ham was extremely delicious, my salad wasn't actually bad at all. "it's okay," I thought to myself, "there's no way that weird poached egg thing he ordered will be delicious." And I was wrong. 3 poached eggs with wine sauce on a bed of garlic croutons was incredibly good that even though i hate egg yolk, i still dipped bread into his wine sauce while he eyed me with disgruntleness. "ORDER YOUR OWN FOOD!" But when my dessert came, it was his turn to be jealous. Although he said his two cheese dessert was good, it was nothing compared to my creme brulee. My Creme Brulee did not come in a ceramic baking bowl, but the custard it was a round pudding like shape on top of this amazing tasting cake that is drenched with a coffee syrup. There are these crunchy sweet sprinkles all over the dessert, making every bite just a little bit more heavenly. His three dish set lunch was only 21 euros and my salad and my creme brulee came out to be about 11. The creme brulee at 7 euros is a bit steep, but it was totally worth it. Ambiance-wise, the restaurant is a typical place in Beaune with a beautiful sunny patio. The service was slow, but that's expected. LOOOOVED it!

Good food, excellent wine, nice terrace, good but slow service and bad coffee…read more The food is very good, however not spectaculair, but worth its price (3 course menu 23,50). The starter (aspergesoup) and dessert (brownie) were better than te main (lam). The wines are great, but more expensive (around 7 euros per glas). The waitress was very nice, however with two people serving the whole restaurant you wait quite long. Coffee is bad and wayyyy overpriced: 4,5 for a machine-made cappuccino! Overall, a good restaurant when you are not in a hurry, just dont' order coffee :)

An excellent location right in the middle of the little town…read more We stopped here around 5pm on a Friday, given that it's positioned right on the biking wine road. An excellent thing is that they had sandwiches outside usual dining hours, which we absolutely used. It's a nice and calm location with a terrace on the town square and just next to the Savigny-les-Beaune castle. The sandwitches were excellent, we could park our bikes just next to our table and the wines by the glass they had were an excellent discovery as well. Overall, an excellent location, totally recommendable!

We had just toured the adjacent Chateau Savigny-les-Beaune and wanted a place where we could eat…read moreand wonder aloud what the hell that chateau was all about. Seriously, it was like a guy with a castle ran around to yard sales both expensive and cheap, bought all the offerings, and stuffed them in and around his domain. So, we walked here. It's about 40 feet from the chateau gates, so if you can't find it then you have a tremendous problem with navigation. We read the menu and it looked perfect, so I was prepared for them to tell me they weren't serving food. As any visitor to France soon learns, sometimes restaurants that are supposed to be open are closed. Or, sometimes restaurants that are open are indeed open but unwilling to serve you food for random French reasons. It's something you have to grudgingly accept if you want to enjoy your travels. Delightfully for us, the restaurant was actually open and receptive to the concept of seven humans, American and Irish, sitting down and eating their food. They have a lovely outdoor patio, but it was during a heat wave and there was not a chance in hell we'd be sitting outside. Indoors was quaint, comfortable, and didn't have the stupid sun beating down on us. If memory serves, we were limited to the pizza menu at that hour of the afternoon. Not a problem, as we were all quite hungry from walking around the chateau going, "What the hell is this?" for two hours. We ordered a variety of their pizzas -- from the traditional Margarita, to fancier types like my Paysanne (sauce, cheese, ham, bacon, onion, cream). You can see the full menu on their website, which was originally designed in 1999 (I checked the source code). I tried some of their local beers, which were quite nice, and a welcome break from the gallons of Burgundy we'd been consuming. Service was remarkably normal. We didn't feel rushed, but we also didn't feel like the waitress had boarded a boat for Antarctica. As a veteran of 3-hour French lunches, I appreciated this. All-in-all, a very nice experience, and definitely worth a try after you visit the castle that finally convinced my wife that she doesn't want to live in a castle.
