And this day it's still leaks but I'm not trusting them to touch it a third time. 8/7/26 My husband's Chevy Trax had the coolant system "fixed" and we got it Friday at 5pm. It's Sunday 8/9/26 at 8:30am and our car overheats in a drive thru and we had to keep turning it off. Luckily we were a few miles from home and let it cool so we could drive instead of walking 2 miles in 100+ temps. Christian Brothers put us in a really dangerous position. When we had to get the Ford fixed for the second time that was a red flag that we should've listened to. But because we needed our overheated Trax towed, it was easiest to go with Christian Brothers. Let me tell you... Do you not take the easy way out because of the "free tow" because after $1300 our car is still not fixed and now we have to take PTO and rearrange our schedules all over again. I don't think it's a free tow anyhow; I'm sure it's added to the cost of the car services.

So, looking for a new one I've tried a few automotive repair shops around town, but have not been impressed. This is a first time visit for me at Gembas. I was a bit leery of taking my old pride and joy (that is like new) to this shop as the shop recently reopened under new ownership. I met with Angel. My A/C was blowing hot. I did try to recharge the system myself without success. That's about as far as I'm qualified and equipped to go. Gembas replaced a couple of leaky Schrader valves, purged and recharged the system and even gave me a veteran's discount. I was thrilled to pay the $293. This is an honest shop. Angel didn't try to upsell or snow me. He's very professional and knowedgeable and his attitude is positive. Gembas will be servicing both of our cars. Highly recommended.

He was on time, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. He explained everything in a way that made sense, didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary, and made sure the job was done right. My A/C is now blowing cold again like it should, and the car is running perfectly. You can tell he takes pride in his work and cares about doing a quality job. However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

I went in for a transmission that was shifting hard in automatic mode. After what was described as a diagnostic, Justin immediately recommended a full transmission replacement--without walking through other common, less expensive causes like control module or valve body issues. What's frustrating is that Gemba's own messaging says they focus on root-cause diagnostics, transparency, and avoiding unnecessary upsells: "We fix the root cause... No pressure. Just the truth." That wasn't my experience. I wasn't shown clear proof or given alternative options before being told I needed one of the most expensive repairs possible. After a routine oil change, I was also suddenly told I now need an oil pressure switch, which raises additional concerns - are they manufacturing problems to drive ticket value? I've since heard similar experiences from others being told they need full transmissions as well, which makes this feel less like a case-by-case diagnosis. I recommend getting a second opinion before committing to major repairs here.
