I checked the left foot and it was cut up. At the end when I went to pay, I asked to speak to a manager because my foot was really hurting and cut up and I showed him. All he kept saying was we do what our customers tell us to do. I said I did ask her to scrub the dry areas, but I didn't ask her to cut me.. He repeated myself and proceeded to charge me full price. He ended up only giving me six dollars off. Why this didn't suffice, because number one she was talking to the woman that was working next to her and not paying attention to what she was doing. Number two, I go there frequently and had never experience this kind of service ever until today. Not once did he apologize or did they take accountability. Even when I showed him the pictures and my foot, all he did was blame me. Shame on Joy's. I know that you don't care that I will ever go back again and it's unfortunate because I always like to go in there. I got the most expensive pedicure available at the time (#TreatYoSelf) as I was in town for a wedding and wanted to do something a little luxurious. After tax it was $75. Yes Natural Nail Boutique is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY but if there's no appointments available you can always try checking the following day (that's what I did; I checked on a Wednesday with no luck and then when I looked again on Thursday there suddenly was a Friday appointment available). I found this place via yelp, was able to make an appointment with Angela for the next morning. The owner & nail tech, Angela was so friendly and gave me a great manicure. I wanted something with lace detailing, and she showed me a few options and I ended up choosing a stamp. She took her time, and I ended up loving the results. The pricing was great too, same as the Asian nail places, but better quality in my opinion. $19 for manicure, extra 5 for nail art. Aside from a nice looking manicure, I wanted to find a place that actually cleaned their equipment so I wouldn't be afraid of getting a nail fungus. The owner explained that she purchased a machine to sterilize the equipment, going above the basic disinfecting laws in place. The shop itself is small, only 2 hair stylists, and 1 nail tech, but nothing is lacking. I enjoyed the coziness of it. I expected the place to be decorated Indian because of the name "TAJ", but it wasn't! The owner explained that it was her & her 2 daughters initials. I don't get my nails done too often, but when I do, this is where I will go! Went there while visiting from out of town and got a dip manicure (something I've been doing for…read moreyears, I have had one a month since 2017). It was clear the man doing my nails was rushed and sloppy, but he followed the steps that I've seen at other salons so went with it. One nail chipped THE NEXT DAY. What was I doing you ask? Obviously something super hard on my nails because everyone knows dip can last while, right? Wrong. I was opening my wallet. I had to file my nail significantly down to hide it. Two days later, another nail chipped. What was I doing that caused this? Putting on a pair of pants. So that's two chips in 3 days. It's now day 5 and three more nails are very close to chipping. The edges are sloppy. It's laughable this is how they perform work, but I understand mistakes happen. I call the salon and ask for a refund and offer to send pictures. They refuse to entertain it, saying it's not their policy and I should have spoken up at the time. Spoken up about...what? Should I have had a sixth sense to know my nails were to chip? Come on. They did mention they have a 2 week guarantee, however being from Chicago and visiting, this is obviously not feasible. So I guess go here any expect poor quality but if you can go back every day? Who has that kind of time? Likely won't be back to ABQ, but putting this out there for local ladies. See pics below and good luck! Update 1 - 2 more nails have chipped since I wrote this 3 hours ago.
