I'm surprised by all the bitter reviews because this is the most pleasant experience I've ever had at an eye doctor. Everyone I've interacted with from the frames specialist to the ophthalmologist to the receptionist is kind and competent. I really appreciate the clear instructions and explanations the doctor gave. His guidance was significantly more thorough than other ophthalmologists I've seen, which explains why my prescription is flawless. The woman who helped me pick out my frames (sorry I didn't catch her name!) was funny, patient, and informative. I think a lot of folks shy away from receiving healthcare because the process can be confusing but I felt supported and informed every step of the way. As a bonus, I teared up a little on my way home because I can see perfectly now! So grateful for the folks here and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

New Doctor, mostly new staff and I think it is going great. I just got my new contact prescription, and they are feeling great!! Last year when I needed help I was out of state and wasn't able to contact anyone about my prescription, so I went to a great Dr. in Virginia, I was nervous to meet this new Dr. Flynt Davies, but he was great!! New doctor, Flynt Davies, is thorough, good at explaining complex issues, and kind. The staff is helpful and sends text reminders of appointments- always appreciated! Under new management, with new staff and it shows! Dr. Davies is very thorough, competent, and kind. The staff is patient and welcoming. I know that us locals may be missing the old Whidbey Vision Care after the move to Coupeville, but after a less than stellar interaction with their staff I decided to give this place another try. I dare say that me and my family have been treated better here than we ever were at Freeland. To top it off, they have really reasonable frame pricing. If I could give zero stars to this business, I absolutely would. I feel deceived and ripped off. They charged me for multiple things that I did not consent to, and that's just the main thing I am upset about. The front desk staff is completely incompetent. My glasses are still not ready and it's been almost a month. And the list goes on with other minor things, but those things all add up to a horrible experience. I just want everyone to beware. Joseph Colella seems to be a pretty good optometrist overall, but if you go here for vision care, make sure you ask them right up front EXACTLY the services they will be doing and how much they will cost. Otherwise you will likely be charged for things you didn't want, or at the very least, were not informed of before hand. I am surprised their doors are still open. Seems to me after reading these reviews on here that this happens pretty often. I am not one to complain usually, but like I said, I feel that these people are deceitful. I feel like they've reached deep into my pocket and pulled out as much money as they can. read more

I've been to Bayview Eye since I came to Whidbey Island but never again. Today when I called to make an appointment the receptionist Tina was rude. Instead of checking my insurance she said I was not eligible for an appointment yet that would be covered. After checking with my insurance company, she was wrong. I called back and she was rude again and hung up on me. I called back again and she picked and turned on the fax machine. I called and asked to speak with her supervisor, which she stated was unavailable and hung up on me again. I called again, mind you I never raised my voice or cursed, and she sarcastically said, "oh you want to be nice to me?" So I again asked for a supervisor and she hung up on me. I guess Tina was having a bad day. Hope they can find a more professional receptionist. read more

The business is doing an excellent job with COVID safety (masks, gloves, ringing doorbell before entering and having temp. checked at the door). I find the front desk to be very warm and welcoming. They are always so nice to speak to on the phone. When they didn't have certain contacts for me to try (due to COVID delays) they kindly called me and asked if I wanted more contacts of the kind I was already trying to get me through until they arrived. When there was a question about a feature to be added to my glasses the woman said she would look it up and let me know, there was no pressure to buy first. She called me back promptly and allowed me to pay half over the phone and the other half when I pick up. The Dr is very nice, thorough, and I feel well taken care of. I have had negative eye dr experiences at other places, but Bayview Vision has been wonderful and they always take the time. So thankful to have this up here on the south end. read more

Dr Colella is great but the optical shop is not. Billing and insurance issues that span years Glasses that don't work well and optical staff that doesn't seem to know how to fix the issues, spans 4 or 5 visits over a year Staff that is difficult to work with at reception, seems uncaring. read more

It distresses me to read the reviews to the right. My experience as a patient at Bay View Vision has been stellar. I find the staff, Josh, Tammy, Barb, Heidi, very personable, kind, efficient and competent. Unfortunately, there have been 2 times that I had an eye emergency.................and was seen right away -even on a Saturday-Dr Colella didn't hesitate to come in to treat my eye. I also find Dr. Colella extremely competent, concerned about me, up to date on current research, a quick diagnostician, and on point when it comes to treating my eyes. I appreciate the time he takes to answer all my questions and explain what the tests are looking for and what your numbers mean. I never feel rushed. He has a great rapport with my daughters as well. I have a tricky prescription, nearly lost the use of one of my eyes and then in one year had both my lenses replaced, I had the first lens done by Harborview and they take upwards of a 6 months to get around to getting you in. Dr. Colella helped me get my 2nd eye done with a outside company in a few weeks. Throughout the process Dr Colella and his staff were very patient with me as I needed several exams as my eyes adjusted after the surgery. There was not extra procedures done, look through machines and get your eyes dilated I would be surprised if they didn't do that. His staff is actually fine, I get calls in person a few days before my appointments to make sure I know when it's happening. The staff is polite and knowledgeable as far as someone can be who isn't a doctor. Things like running the Pupillary Distance machine are all the medical stuff they legally can do. As far as usual office stuff they are fine. I saw some of the other reviews here, and TBH Medical Billing is just plain weird no matter who you go to, my bills were as expected and I didn't have to pay out of pocket. read more

Dr. Colella performed tests on me beyond an eye exam without my consent. Consequently my copay was higher. I tried talking to him about it but he only argued. He showed no concern. Part way through the exam they have you look at frames in a very pressured way. Very pressured. I will not go back to him. read more

I've seen Collela only once, and I think that will be the only time. I tried to make an appointment and was given the third degree and then was told to bring photo ID with me. When I asked why, the guy on the phone told me that it had to do with Obama care. Huh? No matter that I have private insurance and am not a new patient, he stood firm, so I told him to forget about the appointment, at which point they changed their mind. I called for an appointment to get an exam for contact lenses and was quoted a certain amount for the appointment. I was told that if i needed to be fitted, it would be extra. Somehow, I ended up needing to pay extra for a particular eye exam procedure that I did not consent to and when I brought it to the attention of a front desk person, she argued with me without fully listening. I ended up paying an outrageous amount for the full procedure, when my original intent was to just get an eye exam and possibly pay extra for a fitting. Instead, I was conned into paying for some procedure that was not needed. I will not go back to Bayview Vision. read more
