Dr. Schrader just did my eye exam and won my future business as a result. I've been all over the world, and I've seen a lot of optometrists, but never one that was this professional, calm, composed, and helpful. He was super easy to work with, very knowledgeable and honest (how often does that happen in business?), and gave me the clearest vision I've had since I was a child, bar none. The exam was quick and easy, without the dreaded limbo. You know what I mean? "2... 1.... no 2... uh, can you go back to 1? 2 again?" I could clearly tell the difference between the lenses in all but a few circumstances, and those took all of a few seconds to resolve. I started with Dr Schrader a few years ago when I thought I had a detached retina. I was able to get in same day and Dr Schrader performed the most thorough eye exam I've ever had. They made sure to keep our waits/appointments brief so we could get on with our day. I had such a great experience. I came in on Thursday December 29th and asked if they had an appointment before the month is over, as my insurance was ending on the first. They got me in the following day. The reception staff were super sweet and helpful. The following day I got there and waited about 5 min. Some of my tests were done by the assistant. She was quick and efficient. All while asking me how my day was going. All of the equipment was cleaned in front of me before use. It was super busy that day about 15 people there that were being seen, yet I felt like their only patient. All of the employees there made it look like a Symphony attending to the patients in a timely manner with smooth transition between dr. And assistants. Then my dr. Comes in. She is full of sunshine that one is. She tought me things I didn't know. Educated me on my eyes..for the first time in 15 years I know exactly what is wrong with my eyes, what to look for in the future. I expressed my need to get everything done that day because my insurance would lapse. She made sure the insurance lady helped me to get everything i needed before my appointment was over. Have been going to Dr. Schrader for a number of years... my GP recommended him to keep any diabetic retinopathy under control. I also get my eyeglasses from his office. I found his staff less than professional, however.. the eyeglass technician required a co-payment of $15.00 upfront and I paid this in cash (and got a receipt) when the glasses were ordered... she assured me that no further payment was due and I would just come in and pick them up when they were ready. When I came in to pick them up she told me that an additional $5.00 was due. I told her that she said their was nothing left owing on the glasses, I declined receipt under these circumstances and started to leave the shop. At this time she typed something on her computer and said I could take them. I thought the matter was settled and happily left with my new eyeware. A few weeks later I received a billing for the $5.00 they said I still owed. The bill clearly showed that the earlier payment for the co-pay was in error. They had credited a $10.00 payment instead of $15.00. It took months, a letter to the Better Business Bureau, a letter to the Consumer Affairs Division of the Attorney General of Washington State before I received a corrected billing (and no apology) from the business office at Everett Optometry. In a terse communication the business manager said there was an issue in their billing system computer that did not allow two credits to the same account on the same day. (the co-pay for the Dr and the co-pay for the glasses) I wonder how many other patients this has happened to? I wonder, too, if the business office knows this problem exists in their billing procedure, shouldn't the eyeglass fitter be made aware of it and check the receipt book and insure that the patient is telling the truth that nothing is owing on the account. I've been going to Dr. Schrader for many years. He has given me suggestions on types of contact lenses and the processes for the contacts. They have always accommodated my needs on the few occasions that I needed a quick appointment. The staff are quick to great me when I walk into the office. I have a habit of showing up to my appointment early and on some occasions the Dr was able to see me earlier than scheduled.
