It's a rare thing in this day and age to find anything that is worth the money. However, there is a true gem in Santa Barbara that is worth its weight in gold, and that's Bayside Watches and its owner. While watches at any level are not cheap, at least at Bayside Watches, you will always get more for your money than anywhere else in Santa Barbara and Goleta. I made the mistake of going to someone else in Goleta because I did not want to drive to La Cumbre Plaza, and Wow, what a mistake that was! Rahmet (the owner), is not only an expert in watch repair, but he will always help you find the watch that is right for you. I've never dealt with any merchant who doesn't "upsell" you, but Rahmet is a special breed. Every single time, and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME, I'm glad I visited the shop. Finally, when honesty is very hard to find in this day and age, you will be pleasantly surprised that this little store overflows with it. So, if you are a watch lover, can't get that old timex to work, or just appreciate quality timepieces, Bayside Watch is the place to go. Brought in a $2k+ watch to get the crystal watch face replaced. Specifically asked for mineral glass which is the industry standard. Owner said "No problem" and to come back in 2 weeks. When I came back he had replaced it with the cheapest piece of plastic. This is not what we agreed to and was totally disappointing. This place might be fine for putting a battery in a swatch watch, but anything beyond that I would recommend looking elsewhere read more

Took in vintage bvlgari to get a new band put on and came back to both of the screw heads threaded and scratched and both pins put on incorrectly. Owner was nice enough but didnt seem too educated on anything more than putting a new battery in. He refunded the $10 but thats a fraction of what it will take to replace the damage on the screws. read more

The owner recently worked magic with a badly damaged pendant, bringing its splendor back to its original state as much as it was humanly possible. (Far beyond my expectation.) I have gone to this family-owned business for years and years. I have always experienced them to be gracious, expedient, kind, skillful, and very honest. Prices are reasonable. I walked into Bayside Watch to get a new watch battery and to add a link to the band. Got it done quickly and went on my way. I later realized that the watch band needed to be readjusted as the watch face sat off center on my wrist. I went back and they repositioned the links to make it right. The owner is a real piece of work. A battery change at any watch repair store costs exactly the same price whether it is a Citizen watch or high end model such as a Cartier. He said he charges for watch battery replacement $12. As soon as he saw my high end watch he changed his tune and said "Oh, for a watch like this it costs $40." He was fiddling with the watch in his corner and asked how long has the watch been unworn. I said 2 years and he said the inside is corroded and needs a thorough cleaning. My intuition told me this guy is full of it and wants to take me for a ride. Little did he know that I play shysters and con artists like a fiddle. I played dumb and asked him how much does that cost and he replied $200. I calmly answered ,"I'll think about it." And his response was,"You can keep the watch in the drawer and I buy watched if you want to sell". I went to Bryant and Sons and they charged me for the battery replacement which costed $25 No bs story about watch corrosion on the inside. The moral of this true story is Bayside Watch owner is an unethical con artist therefore Stay Away and go to a reputable business. read more

Never, ever again. I am missing at least 8 turquoise stones from my double-strand necklace that I took to Bayside to be repaired. When I inquired and asked to review the cameras I was told by the owner that the cameras don't work. How is it that a jeweler doesn't have cameras? Come to find out, my friend's mom brought in a ruby ring to be sized and when she got it back it was a different stone. I have never written a negative review; however, I believe that people should know about this place. I called their insurance company and they had no idea who I was talking about. I have to measure my words so that this gets published but I'm just letting you all know. I'm sorry to be driven to write this review because I have been going to Bayside Watch and supporting these friendly folks and their small business for as long as I can remember. I go to have watch batteries changed and bought an expensive Luminex watch for my husband there. Backstory: On a previous visit years ago, I took in my husbands Tesla watch for a new battery. My husband complained to me that the Tesla watch screws were stripped when it was time to change the battery and he had decided to do it himself. The stripped screws could only have happened here at this business since no one had ever worked on it before. Do to the exclusivity of this watch my husband ended up researching and having to take it to a Masterwatch Man in Montecito to get the screws replaced. So, a couple days ago I took in a very special fancy costume watch with an all crystal band there and asked the owner if he could remove the watch part so I could wear it as a bracelet. He thought so but then informed me due to both sides of the watch band being identical he couldn't join them into a single bracelet - I said fine. We then agreed he would remove the watch "guts" and take off the 2 segments he'd misunderstood and put on - which was fine. I paid him $10 for the time. When I got home, I discovered 2 large crystals on the right side of the band had obviously been broken and were missing. When did it become okay to break peoples stuff and not tell them? read more

I RECEIVED: 2 links removed, 2 batteries replaced, 1 watch w/ a broken crown COST: $30.73 ... the man behind the counter also dropped one of the watches on the ground accidentally. Oddly enough that watch wasn't the one that was returned to me with a broken crown. I can only assume the crown on the other watch snapped when he was attempting to replace the battery. He said he couldn't replace the battery on this watch because of the broken crown. When the man handed it back to me he mentioned the crown was broken as though I'd brought it to him that way. Took my watch into Bayside today after the band came off on Sunday watching the Mavs beat the Heat for the NBA championship. Maybe I was getting too excited during the game, don't really know how it happened. The pins must have gotten loose from me waving my arms about and were perhaps affected by all the yelling. I tried to fix to no avail. This watch means a lot to me as it was a gift and I was worried about the fix and cost. Bayside fixed 'er up with some heavy duty pins for $5! They have many beautiful clocks and some jewelry. I'm a clock freak but my husband is not. That's the only reason I didn't buy one. Don't even bother with these guys, like 3/4 of the people reviewing them, I agree. This business is lame. They have the hours posted at their store, open until 6PM everyday of the week. Almost EVERY time I go in the area to check out the store, they've left way early. I even called them before coming in one day, and they said, "open until 4, but most likely 3:30" and it was a very abrupt call, and he didnt sound quite nice at all. And when i arrived to the store at 3:15, LOW AND BEHOLD, guess who wasn't there! Super whack business, don't bother with these people, they clearly don't care about continued business or customers.
