They allow animals but you have to clean up after them , they give you bags there to do so. Don't see many animals when I do go but on occasions I do and I enjoy those times. So if you bring your dog here I will more than likely be saying hi to the little cutie if I'm there. Many places to go by the water if there's too many people on one patch of land. You never have to go far to find some more water here. There's a little canal type area that's now drying up!! Has a boat loading dock but it's no longer usable in this area , to be fair I'm not a boat expert but I don't think there's nowhere near enough water ( at least when I was there ) to get a boat going LOL. Always a great time when you go here. It's not much but me and my family used to always go here. Now that one of them is gone it's really a treasure to go here. So much walking space , I just took one of the many paths this time. So many seashells and other beachy stuff along the shore also. Family's always have a bunch of fun here even though there's no swimming allowed. Not many sea animals or anything that wash up thankfully! Means they are doing well :) ! So many beautiful seashells and sand is everywhere. There is paved areas to walk on , however not every areas paved. Thanks for reading hope this helps !

You have to cross the very-very active UP freight and Amtrak Capitol Corridor train-tracks to reach this small, two-acre park at the edge of the Bay. The Bay Trail from Hercules also ends here. At low-tide fishermen walk out into the bay to catch sturgeon and they also fish from the shoreline. There is an attractive grassy area; there are a few picnic tables and barbecue stations. There is also access to a small sandy beach and a view of the marshland at the estuary as well as clear views of the bay and the hills on the opposite shore. This park is truly stunning at sunset, and I always rush here with my camera if it appears there's going to be a colorful sunset.

This is a nice park in Pinole just down the street from my house that we have been going to for years. The only negative is that this park is next the sewer treatment plant which sometimes smells bad. A few weeks ago they opened up the newly constructed trail/bridge that you can walk, run or bike on all the way to Pinole Shores Park. I am definitely a fan. Also there are some nice sunsets from this park especially in the fall. I highly recommend this park.

The paved 3 mile trail that runs along the water towards Richmond makes this a great place to enjoy the outdoors and a good place for a run since there's a nice breeze and great views.

Bayfront Park is a local hidden gem in the community. It's quiet, serene, and a relaxing area to go to for a walk. There's a nice, grassy area by the parking lot, and there are also a couple of picnic tables and barbecue pits. Bayfront Park is dog friendly. There is a community water bowl near the water fountains, plastic bags to clean up after your dogs, and even a little "beach" area that they can play in. When walking along the trail, you'll notice a number of benches set up in multiple areas. It's so nice to sit down in the middle of a walk and look at the beautiful view of the bay. During the spring and summer months, you may even see some folks fishing along the shoreline. If you're looking for an area for a quick walk or a place to walk your dogs, I would definitely recommend Bayfront Park. You won't regret it.

Great place to walk your dog....plus the beautiful Fernandez Mansion. The beach is nice on both sides of Pinole Creek.

I had no idea this place existed and to think I've been running past this hidden gem for months and months. When I was 38 weeks prego, decided to go for a nice long walk with my hubby. It was also a unusually warm day and had to take advantage of the weather. We walked to Bay Front Park from our place and believe it's about 1.4 mile. The area was so peaceful and relaxing except when the Amtrak train comes flying by. Great place to take dogs, have a nice picnic and/or watch the sunset. So lucky to live close by!

    Gorgeous views!

Another great place for a stroll with my dog. He loves to run in the ocean to try to get a duck from time to time.

It's also right next to 'Leila by the Bay' restaurant. The playground is designed mostly for younger kids with the floor deck made from recycled rubber materials. It has a couple of toddler swings so definitely not for teenagers. We didn't have these kinds of playgrounds when I was growing up. It has three benches and three picnic tables with lots of grassy area. Depending on the time of day, the surrounding trees will provide some shade. I've taken my friends here during the pandemic just to get away from the pandemic madness while enjoying the outdoors while maintaining social distancing. The city of Hercules also does a good job of maintaining and cleaning this park, and the garbage bin is never full, which is a sign that it's being serviced in a timely manner. Best part of all, you can watch the Amtrak passenger trains and freight trains pass by on their scheduled routes. There's something hypnotizing about a train going by; no matter how many times I've seen it, you can't help but look and enjoy. It's definitely appropriately named Railroad Park.

Pinole Creek Trail is about half a mile long from the mouth of the creek that starts from the bay…read moreand into the downtown area of Pinole. The creek itself is 10.95 miles long running through town, but the trail is a nice, flat and paved area that many locals utilize to jog, run, walk and stroll. There are several bridges that runs through the creek, including an elevated wooden railroad bridge that is quite picturesque. On the other side of the trail is the Bay Trail, and parts of that trail is not paved, especially from San Pablo Ave. all the way to the mouth of the creek. However, both trails connect to Bayfront Park towards the railroads and Pinole Shores. So depending on what route to take, you can spend quite some time to get your exercise. For us, it's the exercise, walking the dog and being outside. Especially when the weather is nice, it's quite a nice stroll with enjoyable views while being out in nature and still in an urban setting. However, it's the best of both worlds and the city of Pinole does a great job of maintaining the trail. Along the creek is also Fernandez Park, with kids' playground, community center, basketball court and a baseball field. It gets busy during the weekend with plenty of outdoor activities for both adults and kids alike. The creek is a mixture of both salt and fresh water that attracts countless of wildlife. I think there's always a family of ducks that are always swimming or just hanging around the banks of the creek. There's definitely fish in the creek since you'll spot their activities on the water. And the many types of birds that will stop to take a bath or feed during their migration. At the mouth of the creek where it meets the bay, there's a waste water treatment plant, and depending on where the wind blows, you might get a whiff of an unpleasant smell. However, it's quite a nice area to explore during low tide as you can walk a pretty good distance off shore. Make sure your wearing the right kind of footwear since it's very muddy. Doing this activity makes me feel like a kid again. Here's a little secret: On both sides of the trail, there are rows of bushes that grow wild berries. People forage these bushes all the time and we've done our fair share of foraging. I've even made several milkshakes as a result of our foraging. I'm not gonna tell you which are the sweet ones, I'll let you figure that out yourselves. Oh, and the bushes are very thorny so be careful. Don't say I didn't warn you.

We lucked out and came through on a nice clear late afternoon. The trail is available for walkers (for both 2 and 4 legged creatures) as well as bikers. People were conscious at social distancing (given the current pandemic crisis we're currently going through) which I thought was really cool. We really enjoyed it. We even lost track of how far we went because we got distracted looking out the water. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is maybe to have more trash bins. Don't get me wrong - the trail is generally nice, but it would be better if I wasn't seeing a bit of garbage here and there. (Yeah, there are some undisciplined people out there, shame on them.) Hubbers, our pup and I liked it so much we made a return visit in less than 48 hours. Definitely a good go-to to catch some fresh air and getting some steps in!
