It's a small but nicely designed park. It only took a few seconds to look around and clearly, it's designed for kids. The very center of this entire area is the nicely placed playground. There's also an area with enough tables to provide seating for maybe a small kid's party (permit required.) There was also enough patch of grass and greenery that helped accent the whole park. Hubbers and I discovered this as we followed a trail originating from Duck Pond Park. We liked it! We may have a picnic here someday...

Review #254 - 2019 The boys wanted to play basketball so we found a half court across the street from here while the girls decided to play at this playground. I remember coming here back in 2011'ish when my older sister had a house in Hercules & the kids were much younger, so they really liked coming to this playground. Now, that they're much older, they don't really care so much for playgrounds anymore. My 3-year old daughter had a great time running back & forth between the two play structures & playing chase with some of the other kids. This playground is in the middle of all the newer homes so it's easy to walk to if you live nearby, which is what we used to do in the past. There's a decent size grass area for younger kids to play kickball or football. There's also a few semi-shaded tables for small family picnics or birthday parties. The only downside is there's no bathroom so I had to walk across the street to use the one where the basketball court is, and that bathroom is disgusting!

Great park for babies that crawl. No tan bark, soft rubber floor. Wide open area for babies, separate from big kid playground. On the baby playground it has two slides, and this other climbing thing that slopes like a slide but has ABC letters on it and handles so baby can climb! It has wide stairs and some bells to ring at top. Easy for mama to climb along with baby. There are areas to spread blanket but not really tree shade. Can put blanket by tables and catch the awning shade. About 4-5 tables available under awning. Friendly families there.

Pretty nice park, especially since it's walking distance for me. Play areas for both little kids and toddlers is a nice plus

Lots of dog turd in the kids play area. Other than that it's pretty good. Lots of slides and 2 toddler swings. The turd does ruin in though.

They would run around and climb on the slide or take them to the swing.

It's also right next to 'Leila by the Bay' restaurant. The playground is designed mostly for younger kids with the floor deck made from recycled rubber materials. It has a couple of toddler swings so definitely not for teenagers. We didn't have these kinds of playgrounds when I was growing up. It has three benches and three picnic tables with lots of grassy area. Depending on the time of day, the surrounding trees will provide some shade. I've taken my friends here during the pandemic just to get away from the pandemic madness while enjoying the outdoors while maintaining social distancing. The city of Hercules also does a good job of maintaining and cleaning this park, and the garbage bin is never full, which is a sign that it's being serviced in a timely manner. Best part of all, you can watch the Amtrak passenger trains and freight trains pass by on their scheduled routes. There's something hypnotizing about a train going by; no matter how many times I've seen it, you can't help but look and enjoy. It's definitely appropriately named Railroad Park.
