Shoreline Park - 10/14/2023: That breathtaking sunset

Shoreline Park

I love the beautiful park at the edge of my Victoria by the Bay neighborhood!…read more It's a serene getaway when I want to take a walk around the loop, sit at a bench overlooking the bay, and have a picnic. There's also a huge grassy central area to play catch, volleyball, soccer, tag, yoga, or even putting down a blanket to read, although make sure your blanket is waterproof in case the grass is wet. There's a playground for kids, public restrooms (closes at night), picnic tables, and benches lined throughout the intimate space. The park is surrounded by homes and links to the San Pablo Bay Trail, which will eventually connect the cities of Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, Hercules, and Rodeo. There are several people that enjoy walking and biking on the trail but it doesn't get overly crowded. It's also next to the railroad and occasionally get the Amtrak, freight trains- kids love watching it pass by. The views and sunsets are also gorgeous and I never fail to take some pics/vids. My friends and I even took our college reunion pics here and they were super memorable!

We went to Shoreline Park for a stroll and were rewarded with some truly stunning views!…read more Tip: The trail goes on for a very long way, and for as long as you stick with it you'll experience those same stellar views :-) To compliment the amazing views, you'll also see some georgous homes adorning the cliffs out here too. Be forewarned - it's tough going out here when the weather is hot, so make a point of going early before the heat of the day sets in.

A nice, peaceful, small, but adequate neighborhood park located on the edge of Hercules just in…read morefront of the railroad tracks and Bayfront Park. It's also right next to 'Leila by the Bay' restaurant. The playground is designed mostly for younger kids with the floor deck made from recycled rubber materials. It has a couple of toddler swings so definitely not for teenagers. We didn't have these kinds of playgrounds when I was growing up. It has three benches and three picnic tables with lots of grassy area. Depending on the time of day, the surrounding trees will provide some shade. I've taken my friends here during the pandemic just to get away from the pandemic madness while enjoying the outdoors while maintaining social distancing. The city of Hercules also does a good job of maintaining and cleaning this park, and the garbage bin is never full, which is a sign that it's being serviced in a timely manner. Best part of all, you can watch the Amtrak passenger trains and freight trains pass by on their scheduled routes. There's something hypnotizing about a train going by; no matter how many times I've seen it, you can't help but look and enjoy. It's definitely appropriately named Railroad Park.

Love this park. It's a tot lot with a few picnic tables and a grassy area. No shade…read more Best part...it's never busy and I always feel safe here. 2 toddler swings, a tic-tac-toe board, a slide and some cones to yell into. What more could you ask for from a corner park?
