(there's always the grass. just bring a blanket...)

Then times changed and it.....wasn't so nice. Times have changed again in a sense and now it is nice again. Never thought I'd see a skate park section, multiple baseball fields, tennis courts (just tried thos for the first time ever), soccer areas, playground space, and more. Parking can be a bit of a question mark sometimes so look around closely. Give Nicholl Park a shot and enjoy the fresh air and open space.

Features: Walking paths Benches Restrooms Dog friendly Playground and basketball courts Shade Parking The park was clean, families were there, and had plenty of space for walkers, runners, families, and people simply looking to enjoy the outdoors. Be careful on the walking trail by the train tracks. It's secluded and a lot of bushes and trees.

That's why I want to write this review in hopes that as a community we can maintain and even maximize the things we love about this park. The small play area is due for a remodeling. Graffiti throughout, broken structures, broken fencing, and trash. The basketball courts have uneven pavement so I can only imagine what could happen when the older kids or even adults are playing. Even the bathroom, while better than before, some of the items aren't stocked or the fixtures/appliances don't work. Hopefully some things can be repaired soon, but overall the park needs some love poured back into it.

There's a few things I currently look for in a park before frequenting: is there easy/convenient parking, are there swings for not just the older kiddos, is there an open grass area for play or picnic, are there slides or safe infrastructure, and most importantly, is this a place I can make memories with my little or just unwind a bit. The answer to all of the above for Arlington Park is yes. I'm surprised how many parks don't have swings anymore, so grateful to those that do. Arlington Park has an incredibly large grass area to throw a blanket and bring a book to meet friends/take a break as well. Easy and free street parking, and did I mention there are ducks? Large enough to walk and spend some time, while also a great meeting spot. Would def recommend if looking for a new park or just a resting space and place. Well-kept grounds, perfect for keeping up the well being :)

I only discovered the park myself when I took an inadvertent detour on the San Pablo Bay Regional Trail when I was trying to avoid the breezes from the bay. There are picnic tables, a bocce ball space, a basketball half-court, and even horseshoe pits. Parking is ample for such a small patch of greenery... And yes, there is a pond. I may have even seen a duck. The paved walkways represent the best part for me because I'm either coming or going. Those who stay are either young moms with their toddlers or dogs with owners glued to their smartphones. There's also a kid's playground (Frog Pad Park) right across the street. The temperature was significantly cooler in the shade, and it was very peaceful. However. This park was in need of a power washer. There is a cement slide, but the steps were caked with bird poop. Yuck. There are swings with rusty chains that are quick to pinch. There are not much clean options to sit. The bathrooms are locked and the drinking fountain tasted bad. I would not take my kids if I were concerned about germs. My kids are big enough to not put their fingers in their mouths, so we did stay a bit, but they were pretty grossed out by the slide.

It's a multi-tiered park with a basketball court at the bottom, restrooms and tables/grill in the middle and playground with more tables/grill at the top. Stairs are used to access each level. As with all El Cerrito parks, you can purchase a key to access all the restrooms. Limited driveway (maybe 6 cars) and street parking. If you're a caregiver of small children, note that the play equipment is dated but fun. Cool (old) slide, swings that are too high for a normal person to access. (Example: baby swings are RIDICULOUSLY tall. I don't see how anyone under 5'6" could possibly lift their baby in/out. And regular swings are perfect height for an adult). Otherwise, it's a sweet spot for a hangout. Enjoyed the vibes of a cookout last night on the first day of autumn.

My kids (3 & 5) have been begging to go here as it was being built; we pass it on our way to the…read moreAlbany Target. It's a nice new playground, with interesting play structures and a nice cushioned ground. Clean bathrooms, water fountains. Unfortunately no shade in the late morning, which is our usual playground time. It looks like they've planted some trees so eventually that will change. Part of the playground is enclosed by a fence, I guess for the smaller kids. But my kids wanted to play in both areas and i found the fence annoying because the gate is on the side farthest from the unfenced section. (I would be in the fenced area with one kid and the other one would want help so I'd have to walk all the way around.) Obviously not a huge deal, but when I'm evaluating playgrounds I certainly think of parental comfort, and how easy it is to park myself in one spot and be able to see everything. Yes it's next to the highway, and there's plenty of traffic noise. But there wasn't any smell or fumes when we were there. We'll certainly continue to come here, most likely on the way to/from Target.

I…read morewent there with my son and a lady brought 2 dogs to the toddler section and started fetching with them. Another infant (11 month old) also came into the park. The lady ignored us and continued to fetch with her dogs. The other parent says a lot of neighborhood folks uses the toddler park as a dog park and sometimes she gets scared and won't bring the baby when she sees too many dogs. Come on, there is Point Isabel Dog Park less than 5 min away and Buchanan dog park also less than 5 min away. Please bring your dogs to a dog park and to not a clean children's park! Who do I talk to about this?
