I had a painful experience here and left with my nails absolutely destroyed. I came in for a pedicure with gel removal, and the technician used a drill. The issue wasn't the tool, it was the technique. She held it in one spot long enough to burn, and even after I said something, nothing changed. At a certain point it felt less like a pedicure and more like my nails were being sanded down for a home renovation. By the end, my nails were filed to paper thin, throbbing, and completely wrecked. They were healthy when I walked in. Now they feel like they could bend in the breeze. What sent me was the response. When I pointed it out, the manager said they were "probably like that" when I arrived. Incredible. How cute. This felt rushed, careless, and totally avoidable. Mimi does my manicures, and truly no one does them like she does. She knows exactly how I like my very short French manicure, and every single time it is absolute perfection. This is one of my favorite salons!!!!! It's not super fancy, but it's casual. They do nice work. The only downside is sometimes they do have a waitlist. I found myself waiting for my appointment for over an hour, but honestly it was worth it. Again, the salon is very casual, but it isn't run down either. The casual vibe is nice. After my appointments i would walk to the beach. It's so nice getting to see the view of the beach from the salon. The location is what makes the salon ideal. read more

Usually don't have to wait but there's a reason. Gel manicured nails came off after two days of pool swimming. pedicure was mediocre at best. Very limited cuticle trim, paid for calouse remover which was put on a little scrubber and lightly applied, then immediately rubbed off. Foot Massage was 5 minutes of rubbing lotion into legs, feet were never touched. No scrub was used on feet or legs When I left my feet were just as rough and dry as when I arrived, except for a different polish color. read more

I'd like to give places several tries before I leave a review the service is attentive. There's plenty of people working, but if you're looking to get your nails done well this is not your place. You should go somewhere else and spend a little more. My experience is here have been with acrylic nails. They have either come out lumpy misshapen not sanded well enough or paying for a very expensive set for my daughter and they break the next day just doing basic stuff this is just another run-of-the-mill conveyor belt nail salon that you can see all over LA. Nothing special. The work is not consistent nor is it good I really wanted to like this place because of the location. The polish is well organized with regular OPI polish, gel polish and powder polish categorized by color. Easy to process. The hot stone and massage is cool buuttt I think it'll depend on who you end up with doing your job! I'll probably try someone different, to see who puts the most "umph" into the massage portion! I DO love that my friend who got #3 that included the callus remover and her pedicurist took the initiative to swap it out for scrub because she didn't have any callus! My daughter and I are regulars here. She always gets acrylic nails and I get gel mani and pedi. Price is reasonable, not too expensive but not cheap either. They never rush and are very detailed. Their equipment and facility is very clean and the staff is always nice. It's next to Whole Foods so I get my grocery shopping done since my daughter always takes longer. My boyfriend and I came here to get pedicures. We went for the #1 Classic Pedicure. The space was very bright, clean, and lots of room. We went on a Monday afternoon around 2:30 pm. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The nail technician started on the trimming, shaping, and cuticle care. I told her which corners of my nail were bothering me and she got to them. I've always like this nail spa. However, today the manager treated me very rude and disrespectful. The minute I walked in she profiled me and began with her rudeness. She reluctantly pointed to a chair for me to sit. I requested an organic mani/pedi. My pedi was started but she never assigned anyone else for my mani. 4 other customers walked in and she gave them the royal treatment assigning ladies to them immediately. THE BEST!!! They treat you so wonderful! A normal gel manicure and normal pedicure comes with the hot towel which is a bonus! From the time you walk in, you notice how open and airy the space is. It's super clean and so professional. Everyone is so nice and they welcome you with a "hello" instead of pick a color. The massage that comes with the manicure and pedicure is ridiculous. I felt like 1 million bucks when I left there just stopping in off the street. I used to go to a place in Hermosa Beach because that's where I live and everyone was always yelling and it was very stressful. This is the complete opposite and they are so all about attention to detail. My favorite person to do my manicure is Kevin. He is so precise and gentle. Tracy handled my pedicure and did a fantastic job. Both did a perfect job. I would drive 20 miles just to go to this nail salon if I had to. Another bonus is the shoulder massage is the best I've ever had. They also do full body massage in the back, but I think you have to make an appointment. I've been a customer for almost 2 yrs now, however, after my service today, Feb 17th, I refuse to ever return. I had hybrid gel tips done (my first time getting this). When the tech put my hand under the UV light I pointed out the gel on my index finger hadn't been smoothed out (literally was just a glob on my nail). The tech laughed and said "why didn't you say anything?" It was my first time trying these type of nails out, so I didn't know and also it's her job to know better. I overlooked it as a simple mistake as we all make them. After it was all said and done, I ended up with uneven, thick nails. I pointed this out and even showed the tech, which she disagreed so I asked to file a few of the uneven nails myself. Then I asked if she would be soaking my nails to trim my cuticles. She went on to say she was new and this isn't what she was trained to do, but instead they wrap your hands with towels. I explained this is what the techs have always done with my gel mani and I was willing to pay extra to have it done after she informed me. So she became upset and was really rude. She then called her manager over and began aggressively speaking in her language to the manager in front of me. As someone who also speaks dual languages, I have no issue with someone speaking another language. However, the issue I had with situation is the fact she spoke perfect English, yet she was speaking in an aggressive tone to her manager about the situation right in front of me and I felt it was unfair and very unprofessional of her. The manager apologized on her behalf, yet this tech continued to be rude to me in front of the manager. Given the situation, I had every right to be rude to her as well, but 2 wrongs don't make a right and honestly, all I wanted were my nails to be done correctly. Bay City Nails, I think this tech would benefit from some customer service etiquette. I've never had a bad experience at your establishment and really enjoy the other techs, but unfortunately the way this woman treated me I just can't support a business that allows their staff to treat customers this way - especially after the manager witnessed her in the act which was extremely disappointing. Please do better. Update as of 2/18/24- This business reached out to me and acknowledged the situation and this employee's bad behavior, yet continues to make excuses for this employee and essentially blames her rude, unprofessional behavior on being a new employee. How about teaching her some customer etiquette?? This business clearly failed to realize just because you're a new employee does NOT give you a pass to treat customers the way I was treated. read more
