One of the best Fourth of July fireworks I have ever enjoyed (we are from DC, so that is a hard order to fill!) Definitely a "must do" if you are visiting the SF Bay Area. We had the most amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island, Sausalito and downtown SF. If you want to enjoy the fantastic weather, not be closed up inside a metal hulk, have wind on your face and experience the joy that is a sailboat - then this is for you. Captain Pam is a knowledgeable charter captain who handles the sailboat effortlessly. She has many years of Caribbean sailing experience and the crew is efficient, fun and friendly. We took our grand kids (age 5 and 7 - they are experienced sailing passengers on small sailboats) and they absolutely loved it too! read more

Ree F. is mistaken and must have been at the incorrect place. We arrived per the instructions stated on the confirmation (15 minutes before, not 30 minutes before) and found a few dozen people waiting and the sign. We were checked in and departed as expected at 7pm on Aug 20th. The cruise was great. It was cold and breezy, but it is San Francisco Bay. I was actually surprised by the offer of hot beverages, and that warmed me up perfectly. The cruise allowed us to see a wonderful view of the sunset over Sausalito, and to cruise along the San Francisco shoreline almost to Alcatraz Island. My wife and I loved the cruise and will definitely sail again. Capt. Pam was friendly and cordial, and I actually had to reschedule a previous reservation. I've gone sailing with captain Pam twice now, and it's truly been wonderful each time. The sunset sail is my favorite, the views are just stunning. The sailboat is on the smaller side compared to some other companies I have sailed with out of Sausalito, but it is just the right size to where everybody can still comfortably sit. It does get quite windy/chilly, so make sure to wear a warm jacket and maybe a hat/scarf/gloves. They do give out blankets, but those are a nice addition on top of the warm clothes. They also give complimentary wine, soft drinks, hot chocolate, etc which is a really nice touch on a colder day. Now for the -1 star: if you are using a groupon, don't expect to be able to instant book. The sails are often filled up, and you have to constantly check at the end of each month for them to post the next months sail date. I'd just check every day for the last 7 days of each month, and would book as soon as the dates went up. It's also useless to call them, but you sometimes get a response by email. Keep in mind that you are paying 1/2 of what the other companies are charging, so the inconvenience of booking is a small price to pay. Every other part of the sailing experience is just as described, and perfect. The customer service past the booking part is also wonderful, the two people running the show are really nice and easy to talk to. read more

What a wonderful sailing experience with Captain Pam and Clay! They were warm, friendly, extremely knowledgable... they answered our many questions about sailing and Pam shared some of her amazing experiences with us. However if a quiet intimate sail with your sweetie is what you're looking for it is a very accommodating atmosphere for that as well. I had no problem with Groupon and no problem making reservation on Bay Breeze Charters. Only problem was no clear directions for where exactly to meet on dock for sail. I finally found confirmation email in my junk email that had specific directions and special instructions (no black sole shoes) So my bad, I should have looked at junk email, we were second to last to board yet still had amazing seats with great views of Golden Gate Bridge and a spectacular sunset! read more

The Sunday cruise today was fantastic. Pam was superb navigating the boat and Clay was so attentive serving drinks and fishing out blankets. Great views and the time flew by. We can wait to sail with them again. As for the some of the administrative complaints, we followed their websites instructions and had zero problems. They said it's cold out on the water (and it was) and to dress in layers, so we did. They said they post the following months schedule on a certain time of the month, they did and I booked it the day it posted. They said where to meet and they indeed met us there. They said where to park and we easily found parking. It's too bad people give them low marks when it's the customer failing to follow directions. read more

After purchase, I was nervous booking because of all the 1-star reviews, however I took it upon myself to stay on top of the schedule and book the best time. And I did. We just went to the Sunday sail yesterday and it was magical. The day was perfect -- glistening waters, dolphins and a sea lion accompanied us on our way to see Golden Gate. Pam and Clay were awesome - laid back, friendly and professional. You're free to walk around the boat to take pictures and enjoy the view. One passenger started playing jazz and it was like being in a movie. Very romantic and relaxed atmosphere. Also a great place to hang out with friends and family. With your purchase, you also get complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, a selection of (bottled) beer or wine. After that it's cash only. We'll be back! read more

April 11, 2015 - Sunset Sail. 6:30pm-8:30pm It is difficult to get a schedule having bought the voucher from Living Social. I emailed Captain Pam after several attempts. Captain Pam asked me to go on stand-by because the schedule was booked. Got there and we were able go on-board. It was a fantastic experience. We started sailing while there was still light; sailed through the sunset and into the dark night. Magnificent views and perfect weather! I will definitely do it again. read more

They post about 6 cruises a month for the following month (they say every 23rd). I have checked on the 23rd at multiple times during the day and did not see listings. I have checked on the 24th and see that they are fully booked. I emailed the owner and she has yet to get back to me after a week. I am trying to cancel my groupons now and wish I never bought them. I went with a group of six people. It was SO MUCH FUN. The owners are top notch! They are so respectful and skilled at sailing. They work hard and are really friendly. The night we went couldn't have been better weather (September 8th). We really lucked out. We were told that July has the nastiest weather in the bay and that's why we booked something for September. The rear of the boat has 2 coolers with cushions on top. It is pretty comfortable back there. The sunset cruise was one of the most memorable occasions I've had in San Francisco. Supposedly next month's calendar is posted on the 23rd of each month, but on July 23rd i checked all day and the calendar wasn't up yet. But by 7:30 a.m. on the 24th, all the dates are booked. They need to handle their Groupon/Living Social offer mechanism better. The website is one big block of continuous text (please do us a favor and get a better web admin to clean this up), but aside from that, every week is booked solid. Do the math for yourself: The Groupon site says that over 1000 tickets have been sold. The boat takes 30 people. That is 33 voyages worth of people, and they only allow you to go on the possible sailings 3x per week. You will be waiting at least 11 weeks to use the tickets, if you can even find the availability, which they do not reply to emails about. This is not a reflection on the service actually received, which might be good -- just regarding the fact that you cannot even get in the door to find out what this is about. The cruise itself was fun but trying to book it and communicating with Captain Pam is a nightmare. Apparently the website can't handle all of the bookings due to the Groupon, Amazon Local, etc. deals so you have to take different steps to book the cruise. After repeated attempts to contact her with the booking issue I was having, she finally called me back and was very snippy. If so many people are having trouble booking a cruise and she is "too busy" to respond them maybe she should hire someone pleasant to actually answer the phone and respond to customers properly, without attitude. read more

We purchased the groupon. We have made SEVERAL (over 10) phone calls, none have ever been picked up by a human. Everytime it went to voicemail, and the voicemail was FULL so we never could even leave a message. We tried booking on their website, but it was showing that there were no spots left (for all cruises in the future even!). Perhaps the cruise was sold out, but it didn't clearly state this. At the very least, I need to speak to a human when I am having issues with the website. I even used a contact form on the website and was not called back. We called groupon and got a refund. I guess if you can get on the boat, it might be a fun trip, but booking for us was a NO GO. Pretty sad these days you can't get a human even with these smaller companies. read more

I've bought a Groupon in the Spring of 2015 and it expires in August 2015. I've been trying to make a reservation all these months, but it's not possible through their system. The sails are either not listed for the upcoming months and once they are ... guess what ... they're all completely booked! I'm checking on a daily basis and it's almost impossible that all dates are booked on the day they are listed! I emailed "Captain Pam" several times. The first time I received an answer that the dates are now posted (I checked within a couple of hours of receiving the email and all dates were gone). Since then, I haven't received a response. Wow, all I have to say is avoid this one, and see if another is availible. I booked this in a group on deal to go on with my girlfriend . After giving my credit information and buying the offer, they give you information and a phone number in which to call and reserve a date. I obviously thought great !! I was wrong. When I looked upon the availible dates the next day, all the days for the following month were booked, and none were availible for the next month. I called the 800 number, and only got a messagez but was not allowed to leave a message. . My only resort was to call groupon and cancel. Luckily I did it within the time frame. I will be looking at other charters.Again, I warn any buyers to beware of the deals on group on, it looks appitizing, but look to see if there are any availible dates first before you book !! read more

DO NOT USE THIS CHARTER COMPANY EVER!! we drove over 90 min to get there after several mishaps on the way we arrived to not only not be able to find anyone to help us and an address that is non existant but they only have 1 hour parking which is not enough time for a cruise. After 45 min of searching for someone to help us find the boat we tried calling, no answer EVER, we sent an email to try to reschedule and find out where the business was... we receive an email back 2 days later stating sorry no refunds and they refuse to reschedule our cruise after their poor job in making it clear where people are supposed to meet. Crappy business ethics and even crappier people. Only out to get your money not to get potential new clients. Thanks for taking $150 that doesn't belong to you. Do not buy if you are visiting because there is a very good chance you will never be able to use it. I live local and would have never purchased if I knew how difficult it would be to redeem. I agree with all of the other people on here who are frustrated with Pam and how she runs her business. Like many others, she stole my money too. We were not able to use our Groupon we purchased because cruises on the website are already full. She is offering Groupons to people while knowing that they can't book a cruise. I tried working this out with her, but she is very rude and refuses to accommodate me. She will not return my money, and she won't return yours either. Instead, we took a wine cruise out of Pier 39 in San Francisco. It was fabulous and I would highly recommend booking with these fabulous people. I never had a chance to go on this cruise so why am I rating them? Hmmm, lemme see...Customer service is HORRIBLE! If there was an option for 0 stars, that's what I'd rate them. They are great at following up with your call and answering questions ASSUMING you get to leave a message in their FULL mailbox. I see a lot of people with Groupons and Living Social deals were having a hard time booking their sails. Fortunately, I had no trouble at all. I purchased a Groupon in the spring, and booked a sail for the end of September (but I had to wait until August to book because you can only book so far in advance). We arrived at the meeting point at 9:30AM for the 10:00AM sail, and had no problem with the reservation. It seems like several people had just showed up hoping for a spot on standby, but after the captain checked off all the people with reservations, the standby passengers were able to board. The ship ("Glory Days") was in great condition and was spic and span for our sail. I don't think the winds were strong enough to sail or something, because even though we put up the sails, we stayed under motor the whole time. It was an unbelievably clear day, and we had amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge (we even sailed under it!), the city skyline, Alcatraz, and Angel Island. We were offered a choice of beverage, and we went with mimosas even though it was definitely hot chocolate weather! The captain and her deckhand weren't so much tour guides as they were a captain and a deckhand. They would offer some insight if a passenger asked, but it wasn't like they were narrating us through a tour. People broke off in their little groups, and it was a relaxing, scenic way to spend a couple of hours. We had an absolute blast and would recommend this company to our friends. I bought the Groupons this year (in March) for my boyfriend's birthday. Got them the week before and scheduled it for our already planned birthday SF trip. Didn't treat us any differently even though it was more than half off the regular pricing. They were very sweet (Captain Pam and her sidekick) Nice snacks and alcohol or soda is served. Beautiful day on the bay and Captain Pam is knowledgeable, professional and so very calm-cool-collected. I booked online and did just what they said to do and all was well. When I wrote to Bay Breeze Charters asking them to help me get on a cruise or refund the money, they responded with a rude email saying that there are new cruises available every month. I am updating my previous review because I waited on my computer on the morning of September 23 and was able to snag a coveted spot on a cruise. The boat was clean and beautiful and the ride was really nice. The male crew member was very friendly and polite. However, this being said, I would not go through the hassle of using the Groupon. Had I not received this sale as a gift via Groupon and been a regular customer I would not have waited around for spots to open for cruises- I simply would have moved on to the next charter company I found on Google, which would have been easy to do. RATING: 4-5 stars for the actual sail and the boat. 2-3 stars for lack of convenience, difficulty scheduling, and Pam's original attitude when I contacted her. read more

This was in the top five most amazing experiences of my life. And I've been married, had a child, and been to a Taylor Swift concert so I think I know. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect, the trip was perfect. What I think I liked most about it was the feeling that even though you were in about 30 people you have the entire ocean to yourself. And we saw whales! We went on July 1 and we saw three whales! Captain Pam and first mate Clay are amazing, sweet, so professional, safe, and funny! Tips: dress warmer than you think you need to. It gets incredibly windy out there and if you are dressed properly it feels amazing. I wore a warm under shirt, a sweater, a jacket, a scarf, and earmuffs along with a blanket. Definitely bring your own blanket that's nice and cushy you can either keep it over you or sit on it. Are all the people giving it one star reviews, they obviously are just upset that they don't know how to check back for openings. I'm not sure how you can give her place a one star review if you have never actually been on it. Everyone that has been on it raves and I can attest the moment we got home I bought another two pack of tickets!!!! Each trip comes with a complementary beverage. You can do a sunset sail or a day sale but I really like the sunset sail because you got to see the city and all of its phases. I got to go under the Golden gate Bridge. Under the Golden gate Bridge, can you believe it? It was impeccably awesome. We went around Angel Island, we went around Alcatraz, we saw whales, so the Golden gate Bridge, got to see downtown San Francisco encased in beautiful fog - perfect evening. read more

Just make sure to read the fine print about groupons when booking a date- it may not take your code but it also won't ask you for a credit card. Honestly the whole thing was a blast! Horrible experience with no experience! We had a reservation for 6PM on Saturday sunset sail after an year of trying to find the reservation. We parked our car at 5:45 PM off Bridgeway and Johnson parking lot (as on the website) and tried to look for the boat (Glory Days) . We asked around many people, but no one knew where pelican harbor was. We even tried to locate on GPS, and it did take us to some harbor, but that was not Pelican and we could not find our boat. There were no signs or proper directions and we kept looking until 6:15 PM, but could not find the place even then. I am very disappointed with the service and requested them to refund my money back, since I never used it.We drove all the way from San Jose and wasted our time. I had made reservation through groupon. We even tried calling your customer care number and no one bothered to answer. Captain Pam powers is the rudest person I have ever met. All they care about is making sure you pay for tickets and do not show up. My sister went into labor and I call 14 times, no answer. After 6 months we were finally able to book a cruise. The experience itself is definitely 5*. Unfortunately, the consistent aggravation of trying to schedule the sail with a Groupon definitely brings a negative to the experience. The calendar is posted but more often than not booked solid the same day posted. Supposedly the boat accommodates 30 people. I don't know how. The night we sailed, 16 people did not make it in time, probably due to traffic and the equally frustrating endeavor to find parking near the marina. 15 to 18 would not be overcrowded on the boat. Tip, evidently it is common to have people not show up in time. If you have a Groupon you'd have better luck showing up at the staging area as a Standby $45 for two people is a fair price for this experience. At $90 each , it would be extremely overpriced Because of the negatives I would not sail with Bay Breeze charters again. If the business were run with more focus to open communication and customer service they could book 7 days a week. Captain Pam is a great experienced captain and mariner, but not a business savvy manager. Too bad. read more
