At the time, consistent and abundant catches were common, making it a reliable and enjoyable experience. Over the past two decades, however, the fishing experience has significantly declined. Despite repeated visits, particularly with my parents, we have consistently encountered disappointing results. Recently, the property changed ownership, and since then, fish populations appear to have diminished. As a result, I no longer take my children fishing there, as the current conditions no longer support successful or enjoyable fishing. My parents, who continue to visit, also report recurring disappointment.

The funkiness of the creative touches were cool. It was nice and sunny and there was a slight breeze. There were tables to sit, an unmanned cart for food, and the stage. I find it interesting that all of that was there because until I came to another restaurant in the area, I didn't know that this area existed. Now driving there is a beast because the roads are littered with potholes and there are areas where there is essentially one lane to drive, so you have to be very, very careful. But this spot, once you get to it, is it worth it? Maybe, it depends on what's going on. I'd love for them to have a bit more going on, but I respect the fact that it is so far out of the way that it may be a bit difficult. The marina down there is quite small and there's no way to tell how much business would come by that. So, this wouldn't be a destination like Berkeley or Richmond Marina's where they have options if you want to eat, but it's cute and funky and with the restaurant they have in the area, it's not a waste of time.

Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. Bay Marine has good communication, prices no higher than they have to be, and an always filled candy dish in the office. Good enough for me.

Most of the park is flat with lots of picnic grounds, including barbecues, but it also extends up into the hills behind the park with hiking trails. Weekends can be crowded with lots of large families and groups occupying the picnic grounds. They have been doing some work replanting grass so it's going to be looking better really soon. Instead of taking responsibility for giving us damaged equipment, they blamed us and tried to charge us for it. They first demanded $230, and only after we argued with them did they suddenly lower the charge to $170, which makes no sense if we were actually responsible. I would not recommend renting from this place. Poor customer service, damaged equipment, and unfair charges. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Jan was very quick to reply, graciously answered all of my questions before booking, and remained in great communication throughout the entire process leading up to the date. Even when I had last minute changes of adding an additional person and pushing back the reservation time, Jan was very flexible and happy to accommodate. Prior to booking, I had seen a couple photos on Jan's website as well as photos posted by other reviewers, however, reality far exceeded my expectations. The catamaran is very roomy, plenty of space for our group of 6. Moreover, you can tell Jan keeps his catamaran well maintained--very clean! Upon realizing we were celebrating a birthday (I hadn't disclosed the purpose of this trip in our previously conversations), Jan was kind enough to gift us a ceramic bowl he had made (ceramics is his side hobby)! We took off from a dock in Richmond and brought the catamaran around Angel Island towards the Golden Gate Bridge, where we stopped and set up the sails until it was time to go back. Throughout the entire trip, Jan gave us our privacy--occasionally pointing out interesting sights on the water or along the coast. We spent half our time eating around the table, which has a roof and is opened to the outside, and half our time on the trampolines in the front of the boat. Although a bit chilly, since we went in the winter, being outside and sailing on water felt peaceful and serene! As someone that is gets carsick easily, I was apprehensive about seasickness, but the entire ride felt very smooth. Jan even pointed out the big waves beforehand so I felt prepared for any rocky motion. Moreover, none of the food/drinks we brought ever got close to spilling or sliding over the table since catamarans are so steady. Overall we all had an amazing time, and I would highly recommend sailing with Jan!

Save your running gear and don't go here! I read a…read moreconcerning review prior to visiting this location with two other boats. We were three yachts, 40 feet, 41 feet, and 53 feet. I explicitly asked Greg, from the Yacht Club on the radio, If there were any underwater obstacles we should be concerned with, and he said no. He was there to guide us in on Friday, but he was not there to guide us out on Sunday. This part of the river is uncharted! I have Navionics, Garmin, and Raymarine. We followed the same track we took going in, and upon going out two out of three of us, the boat in front of me leading the way and myself, ran aground. The pile of gravel and stones is unmarked. This would've been on your port side leaving. Ironically, both boats damaged the starboard side propellor far worse than the port. This destroyed the rest of our cruise out. We had to cancel Sausalito and Saint Francis Yacht Club. We proceeded home on one engine at 8 mph, which took us 10 hours at the helm. My boat sustained both propellers damaged, and the boat leading the way also suffered both propellers damaged and a bent rudder. Whether or not the shafts are damaged is still yet to be determined. This occurred a few hundred feet from the dock. My yachting experience includes 32 years, Auxiliary Coast Guard Certified, blue water experience 10 times between San Francisco and as far South as Costa Rica and back, and 23 years navigating the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Delta. My current boat only drafts 2'10", and the tide was at 3.4 feet at the time of the incident. I have never been aground in my life, until now! The Diver that removed our propellers stated that we were not the first and won't be the last. My mechanic said the same thing! Save your boat and STAY AWAY!
