"Oh, it's been here for a long time. I call you tomorrow. that was the last communication I've had. no response to calls, or text so I drove by there today and they've closed the business. There's a note on the door stating they are still doing business but the number the same as the one I've been calling. I'm hoping they've not kept other people's gear.

Then the rep gave me some ideas on a new printer in my price range. The models suggested ultimately weren't my final cup-of-tea, but I have to say that the detailed opinions on my old dead printer and lengthier replies to my other inquiries were very good customer service. Cartridge World was the only place I called that was truly helpful. They saved me a lot of time, and potential waste of money, by being honest with me. They told me that the printheads were shot, and that HP didn't make a replacement. The only option was to try a refurbished one and those don't work the majority of the time. They said my printer was only designed to last approx. 4yrs, and it had lasted much longer than that! I also asked for their feedback on a couple of printers I was considering as a replacement.
