I needed an out-of-state process server to find and serve my soon to be ex with divorce papers. With me residing in Arizona and ex in California, I needed the right person to get the job done. I searched through a variety of companies, but Rui was the only one who promptly responded to me by phone, even after business hours. I'm located in San Francisco. I called Rui, at 6:30pm and the job was done the same day by 8:00pm. What more do I have to say? He helped me serve my ex-wife our divorce papers. However, my ex-wife's house is only a 5 minute drive from my house. This was how easy it was.. 1. Called Rui and he only asked me what papers I had. So I had to utilize a process server to take someone to court who owed me money and had no idea whom to use, I called a couple of places and wasn't happy with their level of customer service or response times (flaky would put it mildly). I rarely write reviews, but for such outstanding work it's a pleasure to do so. I'd give him TEN stars if I could! Rui successfully served my small claims court papers to a contractor who botched my job, tried to weasel out of responsibility, attempted to physically intimidate me, lawyered up, and faked medical issues to get out of court. While Rui was parked outside the contractor's home, the man fled the scene in his car. I have no idea how Rui did it, but he tracked him down at a bar the next town over in a short amount of time. The contractor was SHOCKED and speechless that he was discovered and served. When we went to court the first time, the contractor's shady business partner (a disbarred lawyer) tried to make us bump into him in the hallway by stopping abruptly when we were walking behind him. The sheriff nearby saw it all and said that lawyers pull that stunt all the time. I spoke to Rui about what happened, and he put me in contact with his lawyer friend about the possible bogus assault and battery charges the partner might try to bring against us. And then Rui put me in contact with his other friend who helped us draft a court request for a new judge because the one we had is prejudiced against plaintiffs (us) - the judge had already incorrectly ruled out proper service to the partner. He went WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND his "job" and really looked out for me. The court case against such unscrupulous men was one of the most stressful things I've encountered. But in the end, I won the maximum amount allowed by law. And I credit Rui with helping to make it all happen. He is simply THE BEST!!! read more

Needed to serve my tenant twice: a 3 day notice, followed by an unlawful detainer, and Rui made the process super easy for me. He's good. SHORT STORY I'm not even kidding when I say "Bay Area Process Servers" are the BEST PROCESS SERVERS BY FAR IN THE BAY AREA... IF NOT CALIFORNIA. TIP: Once you hire them, leave them alone and let them do their job, don't call them everyday asking for updates. They'll get the job done, just be patient. LONGER STORY First I hired SWIFT, who had ZERO covert skills and literally rang doorbell, did not get a door opened, and left... time after time... and charged me for every instance. It's like these guys don't even try so they can charge you for every "attempt". I then contacted RUI after reading his reviews. We met same day in person, I gave him the details, photos, etc... and warned him now SWIFT has already tipped her off, so she has gone in hiding. Rui said no problem, I'll get her. THEN... my attorney failed to tell SWIFT to stop trying... and RUI was on stakeout... only to see SWITCH walk up again and knock on the door. Rui was understandably super frustrated with this, I don't blame him, but he didn't give up. A few days later he got her! The Search: I first began searching for process servers as soon as I filed my court papers in the small claims division. After some loose research, I found Rui. However, upon reading numerous reviews of satisfied customers, I bit the bullet with Bay Area Process Servers. Boy was I RELIEVED when I finally received my call from Rui. He took on my case PERSONALLY and it was apparent he was up for completing the challenge. The Experience: I actually met Rui in front of the house of my ex-landlord. Thank Goodness i found this. i called 5 different process servers to serve a restraining order. when calling BayAreaProcessServers.com i asked them how much it would cost Ron stated that its a flat fee guaranteed served. i said how many attempts he said it's a flat fee no attempts we will serve it and not charge you until we serve it. i said i don't get it. He said Sir we will serve your restraining order and when its served we will send you a bill and all our prices are on our website. i said how do i proceed? Send us your email address and we get on it ASAP because if we don't serve it we don't get paid. long story short 24 hours later the restraining order was served. keep in mind the sheriff could not serve it. We found Roy on yelp, and he completed two serves for us now. He's the best of the best, and can literally do this job without question and our jobs were not your typical serves, they were actually very tough. Going through this court process is already a nightmare, and he made it a lot easier for us. Our puppy was killed by this trainer(Calero Canine Education - Roman Dizon Jr.) who we entrusted with our baby for care. She was thrown from the back of his truck onto the highway, and died as a result of her injuries. We had to serve him papers to take him to court as he refused to pay us what he owed us. The first time was a challenge for him as this guy lives in the Loma Prieta hills, but he got the job done and only charged us $150 which was very good as it probably should have been more(Thanks Roy!) We had our court date, and the judge ruled in our favor and he owes us a lot of money. This happened back in May, and he still refuses to pay us. He appealed the court decision, did not show up to the court date, and we had to serve him a second time to now take him back to court to get him to pay us. Long story short, we tried using another process server service, Legal Justice or something in SJ and they "attempted" but couldn't do it, and I'm not sure they were completely honest about their so called "attempts". They said they went 3 times..so needless to say they suck. In one day, Roy had served him the papers, and within 48 hours the confirmation of the serve has been turned into the court, and thankfully we are able to move forward in the process now to get this guy as he's been so uncooperative. So THANK YOU ROY, YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. For the bad reviews out there, maybe try understanding the other side, he's actually reasonably priced and fair, just be reasonable and treat others how you would want to be treated. read more

I am shocked at the rudeness of Rui. I had to consider a skip trace and asked if there was any guarantee attached to the skip trace and what databases they search for the skip trace. For example, do they search employment or utilities records? I have done skip traces before and know that most process servers just subscribe to online databases - the same ones. Instead of answering the question directly over email he called me directly on my cell phone and accused me of bargaining and told me does not do business with people who try to bargain. Even on the phone call he did not answer whether his company provides any type of guarantee for the skip trace or what methods or databases they usually employ, which they charge $150 for. You can get a general skip trace for $50 online from various websites, which just run a search of various databases. All I wanted to know is more details about the service - it must cost $100 more for a reason, right? Instead of answering he called me and harassed me. Unbelievably petty and strange. read more

It was super easy to work with Roy. I mailed him my small claims and subpoena papers along with a personal check for his service, and he served those papers the same day he received them! The company that he served gave him some troubles and had him go to a different address and Roy did it without a complaint. On that same day, Roy filled out the proof of service papers and mailed them back to me. I can't be happier with his work. When talking to Roy on the phone, I sensed that he could be aggressive if he wanted to (he was ex-military) and that's important for getting the job done because no one wants to be served.
