TLDR: Probably my best experience ever here after working with many shops. I hit a pothole 2 weeks ago and car was vibrating and steering wheel is crooked. I went to the Herb Chambers dealership in Sudbury and was told besides my 4 bent wheels, the front right tie rod is bent. I was a bit suspicious and I know the tie rods are not so easily bent even you hit a pothole and the problem should be most probably alignment. I called BPG after visiting another local shop having the issues confirmed. They are easy to communicate with and super friendly. After getting my wheels fixed at another shop, I dropped my vehicle at BPG. The alignment is done quickly and the honest people here didn't try to upsell anything and told me the tie rods looks good once again! I got my car back same day today and the car is driving smooth as before now! And they provided the wheel alignment angles data which the dealership will never provide you by giving all kinds of excuses like 'We don't usually do this'. And the pricing is very reasonable as well compared to the dealerships and other shops. I will definitely be back again. You guys owned my business. read more

First, let me start off by noting that I am an admittedly high maintenance BMW owner. I have owned many BMW's over the last 30+ years and have gone to the dealer and indies for service and repair. I recently contacted Andy for a quote on a Dinan tune for my M550i. I had also contacted many other local Dinan authorized shops in the area for a quote and questions. I put a lot of weight on timely communication and patience with my sometimes annoying questions. At the end of the day, if I am exploring a new to me shop, I go by feel, BMW enthusiasm and answers to my questions that I sometimes already know the answer to. After being underwhelmed with other shops in terms of product knowledge and labor quotes, I pulled the trigger on a $2,000 job in a matter of minutes with Andy and BPG. Andy sent me a quote within minutes of my initial email contact and then sent me a link that was super easy for me to make a deposit. BPG was the last of three shops I reached out to and the experience so far has been outstanding. Most recently, they provided an "honest" quote to do a job and then when I called to ask about it, they re-negged on it and claimed they never perform the service I asked for. BPG is THE place to go if you don't feel like getting ripped off by the major BMW dealers in the Greater Boston area (I'm talking about you, Herb Chambers). On multiple accounts, the staff at BPG have gone above and beyond what any mechanic would do. Plus their prices are super reasonable. Oil changes at BPG at 85 dollars, which seems like a lot. Especially since I'm pretty hand with a wrench, but then I started factoring in the cost of synthetic long life approved oil (6.5qts ~ $50), oil filter (~8), assorted tools that you're bound to not have (~20 dollars for a 36mm socket) and your time and bruised knuckles mean that these oil changes are an absolute bargain. When I brought my car in for an inspection, they discovered a worn driveshaft bushing and replaced it for me. However, the new part they got from their supplier was defective and the problem got worse. They couldn't figure it out and ended up changing my axles and driveshaft to fix the problem. When they finally figured out it was the new bushing, they footed the bill for the new driveshaft and axles and even offered to install a performance differential for FREE! (usually about 800 dollars). Another time, their computers were down for a bit and they couldn't print up an invoice for me. They told me that my oil change was on the house. I had to CONVINCE John (the main service advisor) to just take my credit card and that I didn't need a receipt. My last oil change, their reset my airbag light for me for free without even asking. A normal dealership would have charged about 150 dollars. These guys are the epitome of a good shop. The guys that work there are very cool and you can always shoot the shit with them about cars, business or whatever's on your mind. The techs are EXTREMELY knowledgeable about BMWs and most importantly, they do business the right way. They make sure you'll go back to them for years, I know I will. read more

The Go-To Place for BMWs! I own a X3 and with the roads in Boston, the thing takes a beating and there's nothing I can do about it. BPG is the only place I will take my car as I've been screwed by other places before by places that claim they service luxury cars. They tell it to you straight and give you multiple options for servicing your car. I have been servicing both of my BMW's with Bavarian Performance Group for just over 3 years now. This place is by far the best BMW shop around. The waiting area is always clean and inviting. They have Wi-Fi, Cable TV, and Amazing Massage chairs for while you wait. All of the staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I recently had an Inspection 2 service performed and Dave the Service manager was able to show me detailed pictures of the repairs needed on my M3. The Master Technician came out and went over all of the repairs needed and answered all of my questions. They even arranged a rental car to be there for when I arrived and when I picked my car up all I did was leave them the keys and they arranged the rest. After a recommendation from the BMW CCA i called Dave and he found an appointment to suit me really quickly. I just bought a brand new BMW and i'm taking it to a performance driving school at the track so needed a pre-track inspection. I turned up on time and Dave was waiting for me, greeted me by name in a genuine friendly way and got everything sorted out for me while i waited. Going to BPG actually made me happy to find somewhere so obviously trustworthy. My check and documents took so little time Dave refused to charge me anything! While i was there i saw the way he handled other customers, disclosing costs and giving honest opinions and recommendations. I just purchased my first BMW last November, and had a pre-purchase inspection done at Bavarian. Being new to BMWs, I wanted someone with years of experience with the car I was about to buy to check it out and let me know what to expect. I was thoroughly satisfied with the report they provided me with, and their assurance that the car was in great shape for its age. They were right, and I haven't had to go back since, but when the car does need some type of repair that's too big for me to handle on my own, there will be no question as to which shop to choose. It's my firm belief that its far less costly to pay a bit more to a more experienced mechanic (especially one who works almost exclusively on your make of car), than a bit less to someone who may end up cutting corners, or unknowingly make a mistake. These guys definitely live and breath BMW. Just from talking to the shop manager and mechanic who inspected my car, I know my car is in good and able hands with Bavarian. read more

My husband took his car here, a late model way to fancy BMW that he doesn't need but loves as much as life itself. He was nervous about getting overcharged, because you know how these things can be. We he cam back singing their praises. The service was top notch, and the pricing was fair,and transparent from the beginning. They gave him a quote over the phone, made an appointment, and got the work done on time. Andy is the person that he spoke with. Couldn't have been more of a gentleman. Andy made some recommendations about future services and things to keep an eye out for, but never pressured us to do anything one way or another. In one instance, he suggested that we shop around for a part that we may not need for a while to see if we could pick it up before a crisis point is reached. So refreshing to have an honest discussion with a professional who clearly knows what he is doing. If you have a BMW, take it to these guys! read more

These guys are BMW specialists but seem to be trying to reach out to other performance car owners as well. I saw an ad for them on an Audi chat group site. It's right near my office so I thought I'd give them a try. I was very happy with their service. They've done 2 installs of aftermarket performance parts on my Audi S4. Both times the work was done on time, at a reasonable rate, and the quality of the work was great. Audis are a bit new to them, but they seemed excited to take on a new challenge. I did a ton of research online looking for a car for my wife and focused in on a BMW. I've restored and worked on cars for years but there are some times where you have to, and should put your vehicle in the hands of pro's, the days of timing lights are long gone. I went to BPG to do a pre purchase inspection of the vehicle I wanted to buy. The seller and I sat and talked in there waiting area while there staff went over the vehicle, The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable, professional and passionate about BMW's. It's like walking into your buddies garage. ( the smart one who actually knows what he's talking about) They Went over the car top to bottom, pointed out the action items on the vehicle and with everything on the table, we completed the transaction right in the parking lot. I had been due for an oil change on my bimmer and after calling several European and BMW indy's in the area, BPG turns out to be the least expensive @ $91, so I made an appointment. When I arrived, I made a last minute request to have the air filter changed as well and Dave accommodated the request with no problems even though he was fully booked. I think it's safe to say that BPG will be my default indy shop for my future maintenance. read more

I never feel like I'm being sold anything I don't need nor do I miss the dealer service experience. My only regrets are 1) the price. BMWs are just expensive to maintain, period. 2) They aren't open on the weekend so if your car isn't ready by 5pm Friday you will not be able to pick it up until Monday. read more

This is an update to my previous review. After a phone conversation with the service manager, I was later contacted by the owner John. As far as I can tell, he felt bad about me leaving disappointed, and he explained to me that it was an unfortunate mistake. I am not getting into detail here but everything made sense to me when he made an explanation. I think under normal circumstances, this is not how they operate, something like this would not happen usually. I guess I was just out of luck that day. I was not really looking to get a refund, but BPG even refunded me the diagnosis charge and offered me free oil change. I thought it was pretty generous to make up a mistake. I even told him that I would not remove my review on yelp, and it was too much work for me to get there even for $100 oil change. He e-mailed me and said he refunded the money anyway. I thought it was a nice gesture. I was also told that their appointment system will be updated in order prevent something like this happen again. I have been to other mechanics before, and i know how hard it is to find a mechanic who will accept a mistake and apologize for it. For their effort to satisfy customers and taking the responsibility to make things right, I will give them 4 stars. With my initial review, I am averaging it to 3 stars. read more

I'd been looking for a shop that installed customer-sourced parts on my BMWs and finally found one in BPG. Other shops usually won't take on the liability of parts failures if they hadn't sourced the repair parts themselves. In my opinion, you don't always get the best prices that way. While BPG won't warranty the parts, they do stand by their work. I like that. BPG focuses on BMWs only but offers a no-nonsense, straightforward alternative to dealer service/repair and since they operate in a small 3-bay garage: they don't have the overhead and markups that dealers apply. The service techs are knowledgeable and friendly and they are honest about estimates. While I was there, another customer raved about how the techs make sure customers are aware of any potential issues but always give options and printed estimates for when the customer wants to address them. If it is an emergency issue, they will make sure they are addressed immediately before the car is on the road again. I had new front struts installed (I had sourced the parts), they gave me a labor rate that I thought was more than fair, and as estimated, they finished the work on-time while I waited. Even talked to the technician doing the work who was said I couldn't go wrong with my parts choice. Overall, great work, fair price, I'd recommend them to any Bimmer owners. I'd rate them at a 4.5 right now. I'll upgrade it if my next service turns out just as great. read more

I currently have two BMWs serviced on a regular basis by BPG (and I had a third one there which I sold a while ago). All in all round about 3 years of experience with BPG. I use BPG for regular service and maintenance after having horrible experiences with Herb Chambers BMW in Boston and have not regretted switching. Some of the BPG guys are building and racing BMW race cars which means they have above average, detailed knowledge of BMWs. It means that unlike most authorized dealerships the BPG guys look into detailed issues and repair options, as opposed to just plugging in the diagnostics computer and randomly swapping out components at your expense (causing multiple return visits). Some of the BPG regular maintenance interval work exceeds BMW standards/requirements. Apart from maintaining my cars, BPG has done custom repairs and upgrades (DICE/non-BMW Bluetooth and audio, interior etc.) without the usual fear of dealing with non BMW technology and running into possible warranty issues. For some work they are not offering themselves (e.g. dent doctor, body work) they recommended other providers and sometimes even coordinated the entire work (i.e. drop off/pick up at their shop). Lately, they helped me sell my winter wheels/tires by displaying them in their shop. That is above and beyond any other shop I worked with. So to summarize: the guys are going the extra mile for individual customer service and are very easy to work with. I can recommend them to all BMW owners in the region. read more

I took my aging 530i here instead of the local BMW dealer I had used in the past. Taking my car in for repairs has always been a stressful trip as I don't know a lot about cars. But I knew it needed brakes and had a few other issues. I dropped off my car for the appointment and within a few hours I had a call, email, and thorough explanation of all the work that needed to be done. I particularly liked the fact that I was told what were safety issues that needed to be addressed ASAP and what were problems that I could choose to repair now or put off for a while. I can highly recommend BPG. My BMW 528i, with 227,000 miles was in great physical shape when it blow a head gasket. Due to the engine wear, It was determained that the engine should be replaced. They found and installed a used engine with 90,000 miles. The price was very reasonable. The work was clean and neat. That was over 2-years ago. I drive the car everyday and It runs strong. They continuing to perform oil changes and any other routine maintainence. I wouldn't go any other place else. read more

HACKS... That's what I got when I delt with this place. I had been taking my car to these guys for over a year for all of my regualr maitenance. I didn't have a problem until I had them fix my head light. I own an M3 and one of my headlights stopped working so I called BPG and had them take a look at it. When they figured out what the problem was they called me to let me know what the cost was going to be($660.00) and to see if I wanted to spend the money to fix it. I gave them the OK to go ahead and do the work. When i picked up my car I took it to the car wash and as I was drying my car I noticed that there was moisture inside the headlight that was just "repaired". I called to tell them what the issue was and was told to bring the car back in so they could look at it. They said it was a gasket around the headlight that wasn"t replaced(but should have been) and that would have taken care of the problem. After changing the gasket and NOT checking to see if that corrected the issue, they gave me the car back. Ther first thing I did when I got home was wet the car down and, sure enough, there was STILL moisture in my headlight. I called AGAIN and was given some lame excuse as to why it was happening. Basically I was lied to so they wouldn't have assume responsiblity for the damaged headlight. I expressed that I wasn't happy with the situation and that I wanted a solution. The reply I got blew me away. I was told that they could look at it AGAIN but there really wasn't anything they could do about it. Their suggestion was to buy a whole new headlight(over $1000.00). I ended up taking the car to another BMW specialist who looked at the headlight and quickly found that the gasket that was originally supossed to be replaced was improperly installed. Attention to detail not BPG's strong suit. I own a business and work with the public and when one of my customers in not satisfied I do what ever it takes to make them happy. I wouldn't tell them that there was nothing I could for them. side note: The also stripped the bolt on my oil pan which Herb Chambers BMW charged me and extra $30.00 to replace(not including labor). This place is the epitome of customer disservice. On the three occasions I have made the mistake of taking my M3 into BPG, the "greeter," is the biggest oaf I have had to deal with in a very long time. If his entire job is to sit at the desk and talk to customers, it would behoove him to take a Dale Carnegie course. He is arrogant, condescending, and most of all, a little self-important for a guy who likely doesn't even know how to repair a car!! Suggest you don't waste your time or money in this rip-off joint since there are many good shops in the Boston area.
