A few years ago, i had the best experience in this store with my cell phone cover and accessories. I bought a few car batteries there, too. But the last few days i went in to try to get a cover for my phone and the rudest, nastiest young man was there. Clearly annoyed that i got there after 6pm both days he was just plain nasty. I left with us cursing each other out terribly. I am a 64 year old woman! I'll never go in that store again. Just noticed that my name shows up with me being from San Francisco. I don't know why. Stay away from this store. Campost? Sales Representive is the worst ever. I hope everything he touches fails. I drove all the way for over an hour to pick up 2 batteries. I called before I came. When I get there at 7:01pm. he said that he was closed. I needed $100 worth of batteries. And he looked me in the eye and called me a liar about my driving time. 2 minutes. Compost, took 8 minutes to tell me about my travel time. He should have took that same 8 minutes and just filled my $100 order. I have to travel 55 minutes again, NEVER. The guy's seems Okay with explaining on the new iphone battery change and with coupon the price for new battery was reasonable but my phone doesn't hold charge for even 1 day. had a warranty for my phone screen fixed, took them 4 months to get the screen, when I would call for a status one never knew what the other was doing, I had to call b4 a certain time for the phone guy, finally get my screen and i take it in for the repair, they put some after market screen on my phone, even though my insurance company stated they cover the official screen so what they did with the extra money I don't know, so I have the screen finally on my phone and I can't see in the sunlight screen just goes black...I go back and show them they just shrug and tell me to put in another claim with the insurance company and that's it...don't go here and waste your time and money read more

We have had three transactions with BPB in the past six months (2018-2019) and they performed admirably in each case. Recently, we had our Toyota Camry key taken or misplaced. we had no other key. Jose ordered the key and came to our house to reprogram it in just 20 minutes. The dealership wanted $925 for the key and three hours of labor to program it. it cost us under half that amount and now we are back on the road. Jose is a genuinely nice guy and we hope this business will thrive as we have found it very helpful. Antonio is awesome as well. Two thumbs up! read more

Horrible service!!! Got my phone repaired here and returned 4 months later because the work was bad and my screen started to fall out of the frame. They claim to offer a 6 month warranty but refused to honor it before they even pulled up my account. The little guy that manages or owns the place wasn't helpful either. I'll just stick with Apple from here on and stay away from little hood shops like this one. read more

A place that stocks all kinds of batteries and bulbs? Sounds fantastic. And then the added services such as smart phone repair just make it better. Sad that the customer service is so disastrous. I had a simple problem: I needed a new button battery for my car remote. There were two employees, a younger guy who ignored me and another guy who eventually greeted me. He took the remote behind the counter, only to emerge and ask the young guy how to open it (there's a single Phillips screw holding it together). Then he cam back to ask him how to get the batteries out of the clip, and the young guy showed him. Then he emerged unable to get it back together. When he finally gave it back to me ten minutes later, I knew that it didn't work because the light didn't come on when I pressed the button. I even went out and tested it on the car. I told him that it was likely that the batteries were in backwards and he scowled and denied it. After taking it back behind the counter and this time making the young guy join him, thank God. Another five minutes and this simple task was finally complete. I asked what was wrong and he grunted that the batteries were in backwards. Then he rang me up for $19! When I asked about it, he said that they charge $9 to install the batteries, and that there were two batteries there so it was a double charge. If I had known that I would have just bought the batteries and installed them myself (correctly) in three minutes. For the final time, the young guy had to come over to the register and correct the charge to a fixed double battery install of $11, still a ripoff for a couple 50 cent batteries. And they didn't give me the military discount that they advertise. The guy barely spoke to me at all, and the younger guy never addressed me. In short, a highly disappointing experience. I won't be back. In fact, I already took my iPhone somewhere else for a cracked screen repair; glad I had already found out about this place's incompetence before giving them that. read more

I wish Yelp would allow a rating of lower than 1 star. I called Batteries plus on 6/18 to schedule a screen replacement for an iPhone 5S. I was told immediately to hold on - but they never actually put me on hold. They just put the phone down so I could hear the entire conversation. After about 15 minutes I called back and was put on hold again. I waited for about 10 minutes and then the person picked up the phone and said hello. I asked him if they were able to replace a screen on an iPhone 5S. He says "hold on, let me check to make sure we have the screen." He comes back and tells me that the replacement of the S5 screen would be about 120. ?? I said I asked about an iPhone 5S, not a Samsung S5. He then told me the price would be about 85 dollars. I said I'd be there in about 5 minutes. I walked into the store and the gentleman was helping someone so I waited. After he was done he asked if I needed help. I told him that I had called about an iPhone 5S screen and if it could be repaired at some point today, as it was already 1pm. His co-worker (Fleet or Fleek) said that he would be able to repair it today but it wouldn't be ready until 4pm as he was "about to get him some Popeyes." I looked around like I was on the wrong planet and said "ok, I'll be back at that time." When I got back to the store the technician (Fleet or Fleek) said that he did not replace the screen. He also admitted that he had taken the phone apart before checking if he had the screen in stock or not, which is ridiculous. He had to put the old badly cracked screen back so he could return my phone to me. As I was leaving I told (Fleet or Fleek) that this was the worst experience I have had in a long time. To promise me a phone delivery time without checking to see if you had a replacement screen is unacceptable. Furthermore, revealing that you had to "get me some Popeyes" is totally unprofessional. I understand that you are entitled to your break but the correct way to handle this situation would have been to check that you had the screen in stock before going to get your food. I'd like to see Batteries Plus' reply to this. I am appalled at the level of service in this store and they should be as well. Why is there such a drop off in customer service in predominantly African American communities? read more

The gentleman....Antonio.... that fixes the phones will actually attempt to fix your phone but if he cant fix it, you wont be charged. They have a wide selection of batteries. Lead-Acid batteries for UPSes, automobiles, motorcycles. Coin batteries for watches, etc. Rechargeable AA, AAA, etc. batteries. Batteries for cell phones, tablets, etc. Those are the ones visible on the shelves. Probably others in back. The battery for my Verizon FIOS UPS gave out. I took it over there -- the first man I talked to immediately plucked the correct replacement off the shelf and transferred the wiring harness to the new battery. I would have been in and out in three minutes, except that I also asked them to change my watch battery, so it turned out to be about six minutes. They said they would also recycle the old battery. Excellent service, knowledgeable and friendly staff, good selection of products. Apparently they have a wide selection of specialty bulbs too, like automotive, quartz, LED, etc. read more

After calling Batteries Plus at 42 Watkins Park Dr. Upper Marlboro, MD 20774, 3 times and then getting a speed talker introducing the himself and the store I was put on hold. 5 minutes later I was asked how he could help me and then put on hold again 12 minutes later ....nothing. 15 minutes later I was disconnected. This was at 6:30PM and the store closes at 8pm. No excuse, regional director or who ever is in charge please retrain this store on customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. Car batteries DO NOT last over 3 months--first one brought in May, 2017. The customer service is the worst of any store I have ever been in, I was serviced by one clerk and she was trying to assist me with an alarm and car battery. I asked her to check the alarm battery for life, which she did and said that the battery was too low to check. I told that I had gotten the battery from this location and guy that assisting someone else chimed and said that they did not sell that battery NEVER he had been in this location 6 out of the 7 years that this store had been there. Ok, I how that I brought the battery was purchased there. He began yelling and telling that they did not sell that brand. I know that I brought the battery there so I repeated that I had brought the battery there. What was the problem I needed a battery. He keep yelling and so I put my hand up to indicate that I was through with the back and forth conversation, but he wanted to continue. I am a grown woman, I felt he totally disrespected me in front a store full of customers and I wanted to end the conversation. He said that I was not going to disrespect him and I could leave "his" store. I left "his" store to write this review, but it appears that there are more negative reviews; then positive. So maybe he needs to clean up this act. Because if he don't own the franchise he may be looking for another job. The concept of Batteries Plus is great, but the personnel needs a crash course in CUSTOMER SERVICE. They should have better trained staff and products. 3 months for battery is not good. I leave work early to make it to this appointment on time for them to tel me they do not honor appointments and it's first come first serve. We all like to think we take the best care of our things home/car etc so when something happens it stings a little in your chest or maybe that's just me.. But when the battery in my car seized and gave out on me I panicked until someone told me about batteries plus.. yea that's right Batteries+ Bulbs.. while most auto shops don't open until 9 or 10 they are open bright and early.. they have batteries for your cars, boats, homes, and replacements for your kids big wheel that went out months ago.. the battery was 100 bucks but the installation was F R E E.. the Duracell battery I purchased came with a two year warranty whereas most others start with a one year.. the associates are polite and very knowledgeable and can quickly point you in the right direction.. they even have some really cool lights and power converters (for those of us that impulse buy) over all I was extremely satisfied with my visit and I would recommend the same to you if you ever find yourself in a jam like I had.. read more

Batteries Plus Bulbs of Upper Marlboro, Maryland Store #431 located at 42 Watkins Park Dr Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life!!! I want to be very clear that this company and there products are horrible. They are so bad that they will not stand by there own warranties and purposefully mislead their customers by offering fake tips on resolving the issues that could make it seem as if their products aren't bad when they know they aren't selling quality products. I purchased a battery from them around July 2016. I purchased their brand "Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM" battery for $200 dollars. The battery was placed in a car that is garage kept in the winter. I drove the car for a while and put it in the garage in Dec 2016. I attempted to crank the car in Feb 2017 and the car would not crank. I took the battery back to Batteries Plus Bulbs for a recharge in May 2017. They recharge it, I took the battery back and placed it in the car. They battery was dead within 2 weeks. I took it back again and recharged the battery. I stated to the sales associate. I think is name is Antony but they refer to him as 'Tone' That I had my previous battery in car for 10 years and never had an issue. He stated that original batteries last longer for some reason. I don't agree with that but I couldn't disagree because I don't work with batteries all the time and he does. He checked the battery and said it registered as having 3 volts. He said to leave it with them and they would call me when it was charged. I waited a week without a call. When I called to see if my battery was ready. I was placed on hold for 15 plus minutes. I hung up and called back and was placed on hold for another 8 mins. I would understand this if the store was busy but there has never been more than 2 other people in this store and the staff is often standing around when I have come onsite. When I wen on site I was told my battery wasn't fully charge yet and that I would have to come back possibly tomorrow to pick it up. I told them they could have let me know this in the 23 minutes they placed me on hold but they didn't care about how they inconvenienced my entire day. After picking up they battery, installing it in my car, it dying again, taking it back out again and lugging it up to their store. I was told that the problem could be my alternator. Marcus Evans, the Store Manager, offered to replace my battery but stated that if it was my alternator, my battery would be dead again. He suggested I take the recharged battery home and getting my car checked out to see if there was a possible issue with my car that was draining the battery. I took his advice and didn't install the battery until i was getting the cars systems checked. He stated that if it passed it's systems test that he would replace my battery with a new one at that time. I installed the battery in the car 5 minutes before I had the car systems checked. The battery test check showed it at 11.5 volts when it was suppose to be 12.4 volts. All car systems passed their systems test. They battery passed with a warning that it needed to be recharged!!! This is after it was never installed in the car until the system test were performed. I took the battery back to the store with the car's systems diagnostic believing Marcus Evans would honor his word. I was met by 'Ton' who call Mr. Evans own the phone. He now refused to honor his word. he stated that the checks that the company perform were inaccurate or ineffective. After 20 minutes of discussion, I was told by 'Ton' that Mr. Evans agreed AGAIN to do a warranty replacement but that they did not have the battery in stock. To come back on Monday. I didn't return on Monday but the following Saturday because of my work schedule. When the sales associate called Mr. Evans he stated to them to give me my old battery back and if I had a problem with that to come back to batteries plus on Monday, When I got on the phone with him he stated that the battery was fine now and that the problem must be with my car. I stated I did what you asked and you stated that if I did those things. You would replace my battery. He started to get loud and belligerent on the phone, attempting to over talk me as if that would make his point valid. I stated they could keep their battery because it was cheap and wasn't worth taking back to my house. I will attempt to get a warranty replacement from my credit card that I used to make this purchase. I have purchased batteries from Trak Auto and Auto Zone for other cars and never experienced customer service like this at those establishments. I would suggest that you go there to purchase your batteries. Not to this poor excuse for a community business. Marcus Evans is a liar and a predator on his own community. I first visited this store in December 2016. The service staff in this very popular retail store are some of the most efficient and knowledgeable that I've encountered in retail sales. I ordered a cell phone battery online to take advantage of a 10% discount and was impressed with the smooth processing of my online order. Two hours later, when I arrived at the store, the battery was already waiting at the counter with the order attached. Antonio completed the transaction, installed the battery, and provided a lot of helpful information about phone batteries in general and some of the services offered at BatteriesPlusBulbs. Later in the day, when I discovered that the problem was really my cell phone, I called the store and again, spoke with Antonio who explained what the problem might be. I decided to purchase a different phone so ended up returning the unused battery to the store. Giovanni processed the return quickly and politely. I felt badly having to return the battery, but everyone in BatteriesPlusBulbs is friendly and service oriented. i am pissed! never go here for a phone screen repair ! these idiots basically took youtube tutorials on cracked screen repairs and slapped "certified screen repair" on their buildings! they ruined my phone even more, i should've kept the shattered screen! my phone lost more screen sensitivity and proximity than before the repair. and they told me " there is nothing we can do, heres the customer hotline" i asked " what is this phone number supposed to do?" they told me "they can better explain to you our policy" brooooo you messed my phone up even more why do i have to hear about your policy. this place is a rip off! if you cant do the job dont advertise it. i lost two major functions to my screen sensitivity! mind you i went there 3x to get help and took off from work because "they manager had to be present" whatever! i advise you all stop repairing iphone screens because these are delicate devices and if you cant restore all functions leave it alone! bulbs & batteries haaa i should've known better but i was desperate and had no time to waste! i did actually end up wasting time! read more

Batteries Plus Bulbs of Upper Marlboro, Maryland Watkins Park Dr Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 has the worst return policy I have ever experienced. On 9/27/17 I purchased a 200 watt mobile inverter. For those who are unfamiliar with the term inverter which I was at the time I purchased it, it plugs into your cigarette lighter and the other end is an AC power outlet (same as the outlet in your house). They did have one,called a PowerCup Inverter, shaped like a cup with two AC Outlets in the top which you could set in the cup holder of your vehicle. Ok so their return policy says that if you open a package and you damage it to the extent that they cannot resell the item you cannot return it. So I was hesitant when they told me this because I felt that you should be able to return an item regardless of the packaging being damaged. Now I tried to open the item right in front of the attendant there that sold me the item but I couldnt do it without damaging it. Guess what I damaged it. I tried to return it the next day (it didnt serve my needs like I thought) and needless to say, they would not let me return it. So if you plan on returning something with them, DO NOT DAMAGE THE PACKAGING. The thing was though, it wouldnt open WITHOUT me damaging it. I think that its a set up for them to avoid returning items to people with receipts. I lost $42.39 -includes tax. read more
