I would recommend never using this location; probably even the company for an iPhone service. I took my daughters phone into them to get screen replace. (Mind you, the screen was completely shattered, but she still had all functionality on her phone.) I just got tired of her cutting her fingertips trying to use it. So I take it there 9/9/17 for $129.99 repair. Two days after repair, my daughter complains screen doesn't respond well. I call store, the assure me that it takes a few days for response time to correct due to difference screen being used on phone that isn't similar to Apple. On 10/18/17, a month a few days later, my daughter wakes up and says screen isn't working at all. I take to store and Dan, the same guy that fixed it; tells me they can't warranty it or service it because there's a small crack on phone, that automatically voids the warranty. He then attempted to tell me that this small crack is considered hardware damage & could cause the swipe functionality not to work on the screen. (Mind you, the screen was completely shattered when I took it to them, yet the swipe still worked on the phone!) This place is a complete joke & does whatever they can not to assist with warranting their work. I'd highly recommend NOT using this place or doing any business with them for your electronics. I have replaced the batteries in my key fob at this location 2 times (I have a 2014). I purchased the lifetime replacement option so the second time was free. When I came to replace the key fob battery today they said they had NO RECORDS of any previous transaction, so I suppose they deleted my records??? I won't be back. read more

After the crazy storm knocked out power to the entire area yesterday, I was wigging out over what to do. I run a small business from home, and wi-fi is absolutely crucial, as the vast majority of my work has to be done within hours. By chance, I happened to spot Batteries+ from a neighboring parking lot, and gave it a try. The guy who helped me out (MDJ?) helped me pick out a small power inverter, so that I could charge my laptop in my car. He fully explained the difference between the options, offered his advice on the smaller gadgets I picked up while waiting in line, and he even let me know that when there are storms, they check the power outage map in the morning; if there are outages nearby, they show up and open early. I went home and was able to charge my laptop, phone, and even plugged in my 4G router to supply an open network for anyone in range during the outage (gotta pay it forward!), all from my car, for barely over $30. Seriously, how awesome of them? As a small business owner and operator, these dudes really helped save my day. I'm ashamed to admit that I found them while waiting for Best Buy to open. If you have any needs for batteries for whatever, inverters for wherever, or anything related whatsoever, I HIGHLY recommend checking these guys out before spending money on related goods elsewhere. Great experience! I had been hoarding a few dozen recyclable batteries in my garage for a for years. I finally loaded them in my car and then I drove around with them for another few months. BUT THEN I saw Batteries Plus tucked away at a little strip mall in Homewood!!! Within a few minutes they had looked at all of my batteries and said that they could recycle them! Yay for the Earth! I was really excited about this place and was thrilled to support a local, non-big box store until........ After the terrible storm last week, on day 4 wo/power, I went looking for a battery charger. Stopped here and clerk seemed knowledgeable and helpful. Recommended a $19.99 charger for all battery types which I bought (doesn't show clerk name but has a station code of 276-02). He spent a lot of time showing me how to use it and explaining which batteries go "where". I charged 8 D's and 4 C batteries wo/a problem but on last round of 4C's, I began to smell a terrible smell in other room. Went in there and charger was oozing some liquid into 1 battery slot, very hot and had turned grey/black in slot for 1 of 4 batteries. Unplugged and went to return today. I bought this on Thursday and today, Sunday, went to return in along with original packing and receipt. Expected no problem. Clerk quickly told me I couldn't return it but didn't offer why until I pushed him to explain. He asked who sold it to me, looked at receipt and smirked saying that this happens quite often. Apparently you can't charge "regular" household batteries w/this charger and yes, it could have started a fire (nice...). Said it was "customer negligence". Said I could come back and talk to manager or franchise owner or leave it there and come back later in the week (it was still leaking some sort of gooey liquid all over the place). It was quite clear that this happens a lot and that I wasn't going to get my money back. I left charger, packaging and bag full of leaking goo there. Why does customer have to be repeatedly inconvenienced w/several trips to store for their faulty product or advice. This was not customer negligence (on purpose or wo/direction for their sales clerk) and the thing could have started a fire! it's $20 and their salesmen sold it to me after a lengthy conversation about my needs.Horrible, horrible service. Don't stand behind their products and most importantly I have no faith in their ability to provide safe advice. Damage done to them over mishandling of a $20 item far outweighs credit they could have rec'd having handled situation ethically. Really disappointed. read more

I made my first visit to Batteries Plus this morning and was very impressed by the sheer amount of stock in this compact-sized store and the friendliness of its salespeople. I was there to recycle light bulbs and batteries. I am sure that I will return in the future. Brought in two watches for batteries and they broke them. Had to take them to a local jeweler and they had to fix them($52) - broken clips and missing screws, tape to hold in the battery. Went back and showed them the jewelers report and receipt and gave it to so called manager who said he would show it to owner! Never heard back.!!!!!!!!!! If you have more than a $2 watch DO NOT take it to Batteries Plus (at least on Halsted). read more

They were recommended by Cricket when I went to buy a new cell phone battery. I asked the Batteries plus salesman for a battery for my Samsung Galaxy four phone. I handed him my phone and he inserted a battery from the shelf. He charged me forty three dollars for the battery. After a few hours my phone went dead and would not charge. I took the phone to the store where I originally bought it. Cricket tested the the battery installed by Batteries Plus; checked my charger; and inserted an OEM battery. The owner felt sorry for me because I had been over charged for the wrong battery, by Batteries Plus. Cricket offered to give me a battery. I told them since I had been duped by Batteries Plus I was going to return their battery and get my money back and I would pay Cricket the thirty dollars, the market price for their battery. I went directly back to Batteries Plus from Cricket. I told the saleswoman what had happened and I wanted my money back,as I handed her the over-priced, wrong battery, installed by Batteries Plus, she stated I would have to pay a 15 percent restocking fee because I did not have the original box In which their battery was incased. She said the restocking policy was clearly posted on the wall. The sign had nothing on it about the wrong battery installed by their salesman. She said I could have gone home and retrieved their packaging. Over my protests she took the 15 percent , anyway. I had paid for the transaction with my debit card. I am a seventy-five year old Senior Citizen. These people are unscrupulous and despicable. read more

I am giving this establishment 1 star because yelp wouldn't let me give none. I have been there twice to get my cracked screen fixed. The first time when they gave me my phone back the new screen was grey and defective as in I couldn't swipe to answer calls and I had to bang on it to open things or type. Now that I have gotten a second new screen that I haven't even had for a week I am in the kitchen on my off day with my phone in my breast pocket when I pull it out to answer a call and my screen is inexplicably cracked again!!!!!! I have not dropped the phone, or man handled it in ANY way. When I call batteries plus bulbs I am told that new cracks or whatever are not covered which is fine but the associate then tells me that I had to have done something to it perhaps the pressure from being in my breast pocket cracked it!?!?!? So it couldn't have been the fact that they do crap screen repair which would explain all the adhesive around the edges at the top of my phone or the fact that my home button is crooked and chipped (it was chipped when they gave it to me, I just wanted to leave at the time and be done with it) I will Never Ever Ever go to them for any reason ever again! Ps. the associate that decided my left breast put so much pressure on the phone that it cracked it her name was Sarah, so thanks for nothing Sarah and you really need to work on your phone etiquette. read more
