So I needed a new battery for my car (cars always need something, right?) and figured I would try out Batteries Plus Bulbs, mostly since their hours were longer than some car parts shops (open until 8 PM most nights, Sundays 7 PM). This location is in Shamrock Plaza with the Publix, at the other end, near Sally Beauty Supply and MetroPCS. Lots of parking was available. As the same suggests, Batteries Plus Bulbs carries a brain-boggling array of the aforementioned batteries and light bulbs. This store carries Duracell brand car batteries. Prices vary, but mine was around $114, and installation was included along with disposal of the old battery. The cost also includes a 2 year warranty, so if you have any issues within that time period, you can drop by any B+B location for help. B+B has locations all over the US, with headquarters in Wisconsin. Interesting facts about this particular Batteries Plus Bulbs from the website: it's woman and veteran owned, and it's been in business for more than 15 years. It was a little weird since one man started helping me, and then suddenly a different man was helping me. And one guy almost picked out the wrong size battery, but that was quickly fixed. I attempted to order online and get curbside pickup for some replacement bulbs; however the national web site would not accept my order. I called to explain; the staff person stated that I would have to come in. The store was moderately crowded, and customers were wearing masks. However, when I arrived neither of the 2 clerks wore masks. It's disrespectful to the customers that the staff does not wear masks! Most of the customers were older people! Note, by the time I had left, 2 more employees were at the registers, and they were both wearing masks. But 2/4 does not cut it! When my funky car key fob crapped out, they replaced the batteries for me. The weird battery on the home alarm key pad? They built that for me! The tiny little commemorative gift clock from my old church board? Yep- Batteries Plus has that battery for that. You will never need to find how it opens. They will install it for you. Everyone has had different experiences here, but I can only refer to mine. I'm not sure how they are with fixing phones or other things, but car key batteries? That, they can do. LOCATION: At the intersection of Lawrenceville Hwy and North Druid Hills. In the Publix Plaza SERVICE: Great with Will and Mike. Will especially is very cool. MY EXPERIENCE: I went to Radio Shack down the street to get my BMW car key battery fixed, and long story short they got it open with my help, which is half the battle, but broke the battery casing... with no apologies. I called up to Battery Plus, and, well, long story short... they fixed it. I thought I was going to have to pony up $200, but I only had to pay $5. They didn't have the VL2020 rechargeable battery for a BMW, but they had one that fit for now. And they looked up the battery I need on Amazon and told me to order that, then come back and they could fix it. I was just amazed at the difference in environment and knowledge at RadioShack vs Batteries+Bulbs. The folks at RadioShack were asking for tips and all kind of disgusting tomfoolery. Just bad, bad, all around. For "car key battery replacements" in Atlanta -- come here and ask for Will or Mike. They've earned a new customer and I'm spreading the word :-). Thanks guys! i just came back from a relatively stressful search for someone to fix my Nintendo DS. CPR at Northlake told me it was a battery problem, Play N Trade told me to try these guys ... I was skeptical, because I thought the place only sold batteries, not fixed stuff... but I tried it anyway. Omg! The employees were super cool. They didn't hound me with questions and they weren't incredibly cold-- they were right in the middle. They made light jokes while working, cracked open my DS, changed the battery, tested it, and then charged me for just the battery. When I asked for a handling fee, they laughed and said that it's ridiculous that some repair places charge a lot to just open the device. I only ended up paying like $20 for something that could have cost me between $50-$100. I'll definitely recommend and come back! read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR iPAD TO THEM FOR BATTERY REPLACEMENT. If there was a zero star, they'd rate it. They managed to do more harm than good. After replacing the aging battery in my iPad6 (it was perfect otherwise), the touch screen now has dead spots and the machine will completely die with plenty of charge still left and won't come back on without plugging it into wall power. After taking it back for a supposed screen replacement they offered to do at no charge (bless their hearts), it was returned to me in the same condition. In disputing the quality of the work done, or not done, they decided to blamed it on software and bid me good day. read more

Needed a battery for my house alarm system. Called around for a 12V 4ah since that's what my alarm company recommended. I contacted RadioShack they only had a 5ah, this place said they had the specific one I needed so I loaded my two kids into the car and stopped in only to find they did not have it and they only had the 5ah that everyone else had. The rep then told me he told me they had it so I could come in and he could tell me I could just the 5ah battery instead. Customer Service at its finest folks. read more

These guys are great. They carefully evaluated my computer backup Power source and fitted it with new batteries. Then they kept the old ones for recycling. Super. I could have bought a new unit or factory batteries, but this was cheaper and faster. Back up and running in a short time. With all the storms and voltage flux this is critical. Thanhs guys. I needed to replace the battery in my watch, and after searching the Decatur area online I discovered Batteries and Bulbs. I was not aware that they were in Shamrock Plaza before, so I was pleased to see they indeed installed batteries in watches. I called to find what they charged...$9.50. A little high IMO, but OK. When I drove out I saw a notice on the door which said they were running a special where they would install watch and car remote batteries for free with a ten dollar bulb purchase. Good Karma for me I guess. So I ended up walking out $13.00 poorer...with two LED light bulbs and a new installed battery in my watch. The store was pretty busy, so I think they are doing well. The employees are helpful and seem to be happy and busy. Mike, the guy that helped me, showed me how to remove the back of my watch (I asked him to show me) and was very pleasant. They seem to have EVERY kind of battery, although they seemed a bit pricey. But if you need a specialty type of battery or bulb, it is good to know that they are there and ready to help. read more

I went into the store on a Thursday, 6pm, and was waited on right away by a wonderful gentleman named Will. I needed a Samsung Note4 battery and he was more than helpful buy checking my charging port first. We both agreed after 30 min. charging and only getting to #4, that I needed a new battery. He installed the battery, recycled my old battery and told be about the life-time guarantee and 14 day return policy. Very, very nice experience. read more

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from Swappa and it came with a zero lemon battery. I removed the battery to insert my memory card and could not figure out how to re-insert the battery. Desperate, I went to Batteries Plus to buy a battery since the battery I ordered from Ebay wasn't due to arrive for a few more days. They had the battery I needed in stock but I got sticker shock when I was told the price. The gentleman helping me started looking around and found a battery left for recycling that could get me through a few days until my new battery arrives. I couldn't believe they helped out like they did. Coming through like this in desperate times will gain you long time loyal customers. I can't describe how displeased I am with this franchise of Batteries Plus. I am a business owner. My company uses approximately 150-200 batteries a year. I really like batteries plus, I have used the guys in Douglasville, Canton and Gainesville. Last year we purchased close to 200K in batteries and chargers from Batteries Plus. I purchased around 80 batteries from this Decatur franchise. The store manager telling me how much he would take care of us. We received about 40 batteries that failed prematurely during the warranty period. I assumed (bad mistake) that they would take care of us a described. This couldn't be farther from the truth, one would think they would have ordered new ones immediately and taken care of a repeat customer. This was not the case we were told that we had to order new ones so we did all the time thinking that they would refund us once we brought in the defective ones. Nope they have demanded payment from us for all of the batteries then they will give us a store credit. They still to this day have never once sending us an invoice only threats to send us to collections. People it is worth the drive to deal with the franchise in Douglasville those guys are great. Damn they forced me to give them a 1 star they don't deserve this. Completely incompetent read more

I was a fan, not any more. Now, they myopically charge you nearly $2 per pound to recycle your dead batteries when they used to take them freely. "Plus," the zombie, "I-could-care-less," clerk sold us the wrong 6v battery even when we brought the flashlight in because he didn't ask a single guiding question during the transaction.  Online stores are outpacing retailers like BPB at light speed. In an age where you can buy any kind of battery on Amazon without spending time, gas and tax in some cases, they should treat their eco-friendly patrons better. NEWS FLASH: What sometimes bring customers in your store is dropping off their batteries for recycling. There is no longer a "Plus" side in visiting Batteries Plus. read more

Called at 7 PM to see if they could replace an iPhone screen. They said they could depending how many customers needed help. I was OK with that. Got to the store at 8 with only 1 customer who didn't need any, they were just making small talk. When they looked at my phone they replied "we don't have enough time to fix that before 9, we still have to close out the registers tonight." A. Your business doesn't close at 8:50 so you can take 10 minutes to close out registers by 9. It should close when all of your customers are finished being served. B. If you know how long a repair takes, and it's 7 PM, tell the customer upfront so they don't drive to your store with the hope the repair can be done. In my case, I would've waited until the next day. This is a first time experience with Batteries Plus that will make me look elsewhere for lighting and batteries. A shame because it was a nice store and I enjoyed looking around. read more

I have purchased both batteries and bulbs from this store, including a battery for my motorscooter. Each time I've wandered in trying to replace some unique bulb or battery, they have had it on hand. Not only that, but the staff is super nice and helpful. Yesterday, I learned that the store at this location and several others are owned by two women who pay their staff's full benefits for health, dental, and vision. One of the men told me that he had worked for them for eight years, saying he liked working there in part because the owners are so easy to deal with and fair. In a time where customer service and business tactics are questionable, I think this speaks volumes about the company. When my husband announced this morning that he needed a special bulb for his reading lamp, I immediately said, "Let''s go to Batteries Plus." read more

Their price for replacing the screen on iPhone 4S is $140!!! The gadget wizards on Piedmont near the Two Minit Car Wash charges $70.... The staff is friendly, though, so I'm still giving 3 stars.... Could be a 5 star review based on our first experience here, but they are fortunate to receive a 2 at the grace of the very customer service oriented staff that addressed our issues after the fact... We assume that they simply sell batteries and the like, but based on our previous visit with an incredibly helpful employee that went way and beyond our expectations for customer service; this is why we returned. Now, our second visit: Let's say that it is less than acceptable when another employee addressed an innocent inquiry regarding services available with an obvious chip on the shoulder and unwarranted, aggressive in nature comment(s). Furthermore, when an apology was extended and failed to be received...leaving the customer to feel as if he had done or said something wrong, is just bad customer service. I'm trying to not go into too much detail here, but the bottom line is that an overly aggressive, short-fused employee isn't good for business. I have to say that considering as nice an understanding as the other staff were, we still made a purchase for necessary items, but left with our services not fully redeemed, and we would rather do without taking advantage of waranties available for our products than to deal with that overly sensitive, aggressive employee again. Don't go here for iPhone service! Went here 12/4/15 for a replacement battery for my son's iPhone 5. Service was done in 30 mins so I left feeling pretty happy. But as my son started using his phone we noticed that our data usage skyrocketed. Turned out he was getting kicked off of our wifi network all the time. This time I took the phone to LifeLine in Inman Park. They inspected the phone and found lots of cracks in the (mother) board of the phone - clearly from the battery being pried out from the wrong side. The wifi issue is due to the damage of the board and is not repairable. So now I am shopping for a new phone. Somebody doesn't know what they are doing at the Shamrock Plaza Batteries Plus - and it just cost me a new iPhone. read more

I gotta say, I was extremely impressed with the service I received yesterday at Batteries Plus. I've been going thru it with my phone this last past week and I was told that my battery was more than likely the issue. I immediately said let me run hear to try and resolve this issue now. Once on-site, Daniel was more than ready to help me out. We confirmed that the trouble wasn't the battery so they didn't gain today, BUT I'll most definitely be back to support this establishment. Great staff if overwhelmed at times. Know their stuff. Product selection mediocre. I had 100% dead agm batt purchased auto select 6-12 volt charger. Charger erroneously thought batt was 6 volt and, even though indicated batt fully charged, it wasnt . Bought dedicated 12 v batt charger online, problem solved. Beware dead agm batteries! Agm = better battery, but beware if they go dead. read more

Unfortunately, I had to visit this fine establishment two times in the last two months for cell phone related problems. The first time I went, I thought the part that allowed my phone to charge needed to be replaced, which would have been a costly fix. Will was knowledgeable about my phone brand and problems that occur involving updates and batteries and suggested that we try a new battery first and it worked! The second time I went in, a sad accident caused my phone screen to shatter. He got it fixed within an hour and directed me to a coupon to offset the cost. Besides Will, the customer service there is great - really friendly guys who seem to like what they are doing. Amazing service all the time. Here's just my latest story: I have a 12 year old electronic key for a 2003 Honda. The battery in the key died when we were in New Jersey. I went to three places to try to get it replaced - two auto parts stores and one dealership. The challenge is that the little tiny screw that holds the key together is worn and stripped. The dealership, of course, wanted to sell me a new electronic key. One of the auto parts stores said, "the screw is stripped, go to the dealership." The other tried but didn't have the right tool. Before I gave up, I wanted to give Batteries and Bulbs back home in Georgia a chance at it. It is always my "go to" place for watch batteries, etc. Sure enough, I handed over the key and in 5 minutes (and $10) I was good to go. Thank you. read more
