Got the life-changing BLT. Definitely lived up to its name - bacon was to die for and all very well prepared!

Great place, food and staff were lovely. Alex served us and the owner came and greeted us. Very cute atmosphere/ambiance. No notes!

Not sure of the name but a play on Monte Cristo

The first time I tried Batter Up Bistro, everything was great. We just visited a few weeks ago on a Sunday and though it was not super busy everything was off. It took over 2 hours to get our food and the food was slightly disappointing. First with the drinks I ordered a hot chocolate and my hot chocolate was not even room temperature. By the time the server came back 30-45 minutes later I had already finished it and didn't have the heart to complain. Next the entrees, I ordered the Naan scramble dish and it was basically an omelet inside Naan bread supposed to be drizzled with hot honey. There was so much hot honey on the bread that it was sickly sweet and difficult to eat though the omelet was actually spicy which is what I wanted. My husband ordered the play on Monte Cristo sandwich and thought it was okay though not amazing for the amount of time we waited also the berry compote didnt go with the sandwich like a classic monte cristo. Overall a little disappointing but maybe will come back another day.

Stopped by as we are not from the area for some baseball NCAA tournaments at Jackson Field. It was right across from our hotel. This place is a hidden gem. A little pricey and slow as they had one guy doing it all. Super friendly Food and coffee were excellent. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

This is our favorite restaurant in Lansing. We have been here for our last three meals while in town for a convention down the street. The ambience is fantastic. The service is excellent. The food is well plated. Even the music is very pleasing. Just a great experience all around. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that their air conditioning isn't working and apparently it hasn't been working for weeks. That should really be a priority as it is summertime. Other than that though, no notes.

This place has kind of weird seating. The ambience is cool but it feels like a bar more than a restaurant. I definitely recommend the breakfast sandwich. It's like the top ordered one. We had one good server although we have been here three times. Our first server Kind of was weird. He didn't give my fiancé the drink he ordered, but instead said he would give one he usually gets. And the drink was way more expensive than the one my fiancé ordered. Overall, it's good and I would come here again.

This is my new favorite restaurant!.it is listed as Auti Immune Protocol friendly and it is. The food is healthy, beautiful, the service was over-the-top wonderful and warm, and the chef came out and greeted us and checked in on how the food was. We got the burger and salmon and that is the best burger in town! The tea selection is amazing and they had fresh bread, delicious cake and such fresh and colorful produce. Great place for brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks.

People often reminisce on college -- what they loved, how they grew, the opportunities that slipped through the cracks. As someone who lived in East Lansing for 4 years, I've now experienced one of those slips, not knowing that this Bistro was here sooner. As you walk inside, there's an immediate warmth that embraces you from the thoughtful decor to the comfortable setting. The dichotomy from the outside is so striking that you almost feel as though you walked through something more than a door altogether. Most importantly, the food. I started off with a dark roast black coffee, which was rich, smooth and excellent. I then ordered a Greek Omelette while my father ordered the BLT -- they were perfect, and the immaculate plating was an embodiment of the establishment as a whole. If you're in Lansing, or EL, do yourself a favor and start your morning the right way.

This was a wonderful place to visit, the atmosphere is very warm and cozy, the decor is just enough of the right mixes and is tastefully done. Our server was very friendly and had suggestions that we accepted. The food was wonderful, the coffee was nice and bold and the house made whipped cream was the cherry on top, delicious. We will definitely treat ourselves again and they have a full bar that I forgot to mention. Only one complaint the Mimosa pitcher was quite pricey ‍

The restaurant is upscale casual, broody and beautiful to look at. All the food we had was really good! Scallops were sweet and fresh. Bruschetta and goat cheese was great; I thought the toast could've been more crisp, but then again it's bruschetta! Taste was top notch. My partner got the veggie pasta which we both really enjoyed that! I got the most beautiful salad and added the salmon for $7?! A steal. Her family all got the burgers and thoroughly enjoyed them. The tiramisu and cheese cake were pretty lackluster in comparison to the rest of the meal. The poor server was the only one with the whole restaurant for a long while. They did their best! Someone came in at the end and was able to help. Great experience!

The food was excellent. Stopped by for a very quick breakfast on my way out and it was worth the stop. Abby was my server and she was very attentive and quick. It was so cute inside, would highly recommend!

This is a tough one. It's Easter Sunday. We are first time empty nesters. Meaning the first year my wife has not got to make her delicious food as she has every holiday for decades. It's an adjustment. And we miss those kids. I decided to take her out and get her mind off of it all. She was apprehensive but excited. I wanted something we hadn't tried and a generous holiday brunch with a pretty surrounding and good food. After looking for a time I found Batter Up Bistro. Judging from the former reviews, it was a nice place with some growing pains, but it seemed Brunch would be a good thing. (Plenty of food made to please a crowd). You were required to make reservations and be subject to a $20 per person cancellation fee. But I felt safe. The buffet was $35 per person. $70 for a nice table and great buffet. As I read on it said that you would only be seated for the duration of an hour and a half. I thought that was fair for the high turnover they might have. So we were set. This morning we were sent a reminder of our table seating at 1230. I thought "Excellent" they are on it. We got there at exactly the right time. The bistro was packed. It was elegant and warm. A man we presumed to be the owner held the door open for my wife and I as we walked in. That was a good sign. As we entered no one greeted us so we kind of meandered around as we saw names on the tables and a few of them were open so we looked to find them. As we ran out of walkway a gal asked what our names were and said OH! Yes. I have you right up here... at the BAR. 2 seats of to the left far end. Next to another couple and an arrangement of desserts. This was NOT a good sign for Easter Brunch. We were then given a drink menu. The ONLY thing that came with our $35 brunch was water. No coffee ($6) no juice. No other beverage was offered. I thought well, maybe a mimosa since we may need a drink before this is all over. A flute glass was given for $11. Among the brunch offerings listed was this at the end: "full bar featuring many flavors of mimosas along with specialty coffees, juices, milk, pop & ice tea" then a few lines down it says: (Drinks available for an additional fee and not included in the buffet price.) We sat there a bit and finally a young lady came and told us to take our plates up and fill them. So we went and there were about 12 selections. Many of them were not refilled and it was cumbersome as there was no where to set your plate down to lift the covers off with one hand and scoop on your plate with the other. I thought I was clever when I slid the cover toward the back of the pan... only to have it fall on to the floor at the feet of an elderly fellow setting way too close. The embarrassment was more than I needed. I went and apologized and picked up the plate to an audience of stares. A young lady briskly took it away and I went back to trying to get some food. I came back to the bar with half a plate of what was left. It was all right. The cheesy scrambled eggs were good. The garlic herb potatoes were the same. Rice custard was bland and needed the peaches. The spelt bread toast was hard and there was nothing offered to put on it. I had wanted to have some of their french toast, but the other customers must have known it was the best which always left an empty pan when I tried to revisit. Here is something: We were not given a clean plate to go back to the buffet. So we had to eat everything OR try to make it look acceptable to stand in line again. I thought for a buffet, it is standard practice to have a clean plate. This just felt off. As the bar emptied two seats a party of four glamorous people entered. Furs and all. They were aloof and seemingly upset that there was not a table there for them. They were offered a seat at the bar which was clearly beneath them. Stood next to me with their antics and eye rolling until they did indeed - get a nice table. I waited until they left and walked to the right side of the bar and tried to get some cheesecake. We were asked if we were done with our plates by a cheery young bartender and we said yes. He promptly took them away and asked if we were ready for the bill. I said absolutely. That came in a few seconds. Totalling $97 for 2 brunches and 2 drinks. I gotta say, I expected more. Maybe flowers on the table... server clearing your plate... or.. a table. Thats what we reserved for. The left over food we got each time was OK, but it could have been better. I have a feeling this place can really make some good things. We were disappointed for sure. It was off putting for an experience that should have been a highlight for the day. I get restaurants have growing pains, but customers should NOT have to pay full price for them. And if you offer a holiday brunch, MAKE IT SPECIAL for the customer and not just a cash grab for you. You never know who is setting at your tables or what they do for a living.

Well, because our congregation had a small list of approved caterers, and my daughter wanted one thing for the big celebration: a chocolate fountain. As luck would have it, The Moveable Feast has a chocolate fountain front and center on its website, so they were the obvious choice. The only other thing the Bat Mitzvah Girl wanted was bagels and cream cheese, which is her favorite food and pretty much impossible to mess up. Especially when the caterer agrees to source the bagels from Zingerman's Bakehouse. But one needs more for a luncheon than just bagels, cream cheese, and a chocolate fountain. That is where Misty Rose entered the picture. She got what we were going for and helped to round out the rest of the menu. I was told we had to get the whitefish as it was a signature dish of the company, and that was a great call. The pastrami spiced smoked salmon was tasty too. Having grilled vegetables was a fantastic idea as well. If I were to have TMF cater another event I might skip the red pepper hummus, the beet and quinoa salad, and the frittata. I make all of these things at home on the regular, and not to brag, but mine are better. However, those each served a role in the buffet, which on the whole was well received. Where The Moveable Feast shined brightest was its staff. They were extraordinary! Misty for both her flexibility and her patience in dealing with a father who was planning an event at the earliest stages of Omicron. Misty also directed me to A1 Rentals and helped to come up with several floor plans to make a 20' x 40' tent feel like a celebratory space. Plus the event staff were simply heroic, setting up the tent while I was at the ceremony and having everything ready by the time our guests arrived. Everyone who braved traveling to Michigan in December amidst a growing pandemic had a great time. The bartender roaming around pushing mimosas certainly helped. As did the tent heaters, which TMF helped to get back online when one wasn't working. They called up the rental company and made sure A1 brought over a new one. Plus the TMF crew even helped to spread out some straw when the lawn got sloppy thanks to the unexpected ice storm. If you've read down this far, you might be asking yourself, "So why only four stars?" Well, if you recall, the critical components of this event were a chocolate fountain, bagels, and cream cheese. The chocolate fountain was everything the guest of honor had hoped for... and maybe more. But somehow, the caterer forgot to bring the cream cheese. And a bagel without cream cheese is like a hug without the squeeze. I know that's not actually how the line goes. Still... it's close. My personal belief is that a business is best defined by what happens when something goes wrong. In this case, their first offer was to simply not charge me for the food they didn't bring. That was not terribly satisfying. Ultimately, the resolution was a sum that was roughly equivalent to the mimosas which helped make our adult guests happy despite the omission. I appreciated the gesture, but would have preferred an outcome that did not feel as transactional. You know, like a tray of sweets, or an "I'm sorry" cake. I know I'm weird about this, but money feels kinda dirty. Although at some point it's best to just take the offer and move on. Which is exactly what I did. Would I work with The Moveable Feast again? Absolutely! Would I recommend them to anyone who asks? You bet. Would they work with me again? I certainly hope so. We had a tremendous amount of leftovers, which included a few pounds of smoked salmon and multiple pints of whitefish. We were even able to salvage some of the ambrosial nectar from the chocolate fountain. More importantly, thanks to TMF we were able to pull off a successful event in the face of some abysmal conditions. I mean... on top of everything a last minute ice storm? And despite being down a person, they did it all with a smile. Bravo!
