Allergic reaction. While my experience started off positively, it ultimately left me disappointed. The staff at the store were kind and helpful, assisting me in customizing a Hydrating Body Mist in the cherry almond scent. However, when I used the product for the first time, I experienced a skin reaction. My neck and chest became red and irritated, with a stinging sensation that lasted for several hours. I reached out to Bath Junkie to report the issue and share a photo, and I will say that their customer service team responded promptly. The representative I corresponded with apologized for the situation and advised me to stop using the product immediately. She said their product packaging was accurate. There was no offer to make things right, such as a refund or replacement, nor any apparent takeaway on their end to dispose of (or further test) the cherry or almond scents in my product, or change their labeling. I do have sensitive skin, but I've used a variety of customizable products from other brands (e.g. Buff City Soaps) without issue, and shop at stores like Lush, so this reaction was unexpected. Ultimately, I have to caution others with sensitive skin to be mindful when trying Bath Junkie's products, and do a test patch prior to applying more widely to the skin. read more

Bath Junkie, almost sounds like I have a problem. I swear I don't. I do like however a nice hot bath. Bath Junkie is the place to find what you probably could use yourself or find a bath related gift. I was delighted that they do feature several Rinse brand products. Rinse I'm a big fan of, their products are hand made in Georgia. Not too many stores carry Rinse products so I had to indulge. Spending the day in Carmel and walking around I was not expecting to find a place like this but I'm sure glad I did. A great selection of products was only complimented by a friendly and knowledgeable staff to assist. I saw some products that I've seen before but I saw just as many that I can say I've never seen before. A specialty store done well. This place is located near the new cake bake shop in Carmel, IN. When I walked in, I was greeted right away. I don't remember the name of both ladies who helped me, but they were so nice! They walked me around the store and showed me all the different products they had to offer. Then I smelled several different scents and came up with a good combination. I picked a body wash, lotion, and roll on oil. You get to choose what color you want your body wash and lotion to be. They can also add glitter which I had the lady add glitter to my body wash. Located in the town center in a deceivingly small area, there is a huge selection of scents to choose from and combine. My girlfriend got this experience for me as a birthday gift and I was initially overwhelmed the array of options available. There is a list of suggested combinations available based on your interests and the scents are categorized by their smells, such as fruits, spices, and musks. Even further, Melissa, the owner, was there when we went and was able to blend scents based on our interests. They have a variety of items to apply the scents to, including scrubs, body washes, and aftershaves. While a little expensive, the ability to choose your own fragrances in quality products is definitely worth it and worth coming back to. read more

Stumbled upon this place as pop up store at HTC. Was very intrigued as had been to place similar while traveling in San Diego called Sinfulicious. I had never seen another place like it in all my travels. You can create any scent in many different bath products and sprays! I chose lavender and bamboo bath salts. The owner even asked what color I wanted added which of course did purple. Makes it pretty in container and doesn't change color of bath water. She told me the. Carmel store has many more scents to create products with so going to venture there soon. I used them tonight and had subtle scent so maybe would ask to be stronger next time but made my water super soft without any residual feeling once out. Will have to gift this for holiday for sure! Bath Junkie is a super cute, locally owned shop that's perfect for when you need a small gift for someone or a pick-me-up for yourself. They have plenty of choices for bath products, from scrubs to lotions. Some of them come pre-made, but you also have the option to have the staff make it fresh on the spot. The coolest part is picking out your scent, which you can mix and match. When I came in the other day, I didn't have a mission. I ended up walking out with a custom made coffee scrub - caffeine is great for firming up skin - that I had been in the market for and had it mixed with a warm vanilla sugar scent. It smells like a delicious vanilla latte! I wouldn't say that this was the cheapest scrub that you can buy, but the freshness and quality is there. AND the price is comparable to other high quality coffee scrubs on Amazon, so this is a great way to support a local business. Side note: they currently have a Holiday 2020 pop up location at Hamilton Town Center. I look forward to seeing them expand even further! read more

Had a bachelorette party here and it was fantastic! The ladies in the shop truely took care of us. We had a party of 8 for the scrub-a-dub-dub package (1 body mist, 1 salt scrub, 1 custom blend product, and 1 bath puffy). Being able to pick out your own scent was the best part and the most overwhelming part! With the 3 different products we could choose 3 different scents or keep them all the same. Once you pick a scent you also get to pick a color for each product. It was so nice they put our names and scents on each product. The owner was super nice and let us have our party after they closed so we had the whole store to ourselves. We were also able to bring food/drinks in with us. The scrub-a-dub-dub party took just under 2 hours. $30 each for 2 hours of good clean fun on a Saturday night is a pretty good deal to me. I struggle with this review because I really like the idea of this place, and I want more places like this to succeed. I have fond memories of making my own perfumes with essential oils at a place in Fishers that's been out of business for twenty years or so. So I drove out of my way to give this place a try, since it's the only place in town that I know of where you can make your own scents. The store is beautiful, nice and open. It's located on the second floor of the building, and there is parking right out front if you want it. In addition to the bath products you can indeed make your own perfume using the scents you find right as you walk in the door. So I was excited and immediately started uncapping scents to try... And then, disappointment. Maybe it's the carrier oil they use, but nothing, not even the true essential oils, smelled right. Everything was muddled and slightly sweet. It wasn't just weak... the smells themselves were wrong. It was like smelling a candle that didn't quite get the smell right. The best example of this was when I picked up something that said "Colombian Coffee" and called the person working the store over because I thought the top cap had been switched with"Chocolate." She smelled it and then another coffee and said that the scent was correct, their coffee was just very chocolaty. Yeah, no joke. There was no coffee in there, or maybe it was just one of those horrible flavored coffees. Keep in mind that because I've done this before many times I know how orange and patchouli and verbena are supposed to smell. These were way off the mark. And I darn well know what coffee is supposed to smell like because I literally spilled coffee on myself fifteen minutes before walking in the store. I'm not against synthetic scents, either. I've made my own perfumes at a place in Castleton mall from synthetic scents, and they were great. Unfortunately, that place went out of business twenty years ago. Sensing a pattern? So if you're looking for a true make your own scent place and you are looking to get a certain effect with essential oils, don't waste your time here. I can't imagine being able to make a truly good signature scent out of the thirty or more scents (both essential oils and synthetic, of many different types) I smelled. It won't smell like perfume. If you're lucky you'll smell like weak potpourri. However, for parties and gifts and for most people just casually looking for something different they will probably love this place. Just be prepared to smell lots of things and leave any preconceived notions about how each scent is supposed to smell and you'll probably be fine. This place enables people to get a somewhat unique scent, while still treading on safe ground. So for that reason I give it three stars...but in my own book this place is one star at best, and not worth my time or money. read more

I attended a friend's birthday party where we all did the "Scrub-a-dub-dub" package. For $30, you get to make your own salt scrub, body spray, and specialty item (I chose the walnut face scrub). The staff is excellent at walking you through every step in the process, from sampling the oils/fragrances to making sure you are completely happy with the scent once formulated. (You can go back up to the counter to add more if you're not satisfied.) And you can BYOB, so it's the perfect setting. Be sure to plan for a couple of hours if your group is 10 or more people. Bath Junkie is all about getting creative while coming up with a unique, personalized product to take home. When you come here (not if, when!), make sure you set aside a good amount of time to relax and have fun with it! Bath Junkie was so much fun! This shop offers custom bath products that can please anyone. Step 1- smell the plethora of scents. Pick 1, 2 or 3 scents that make a great combo. Step 2- pick out a product to make. We made shower gel, shave gel, smelly spray, and hand scrub. Step 3- pick a color (not everything has that option, but some do like the shower gel) Step 4- watch them mix it all together and smell your final product This is such a fun idea and we had a great time, but the projects that they offer are a little on the pricey side. If you are looking for a unique gift for a friend, this would be a great idea to do together. They also have parties for little girls. I went in not knowing at ALL what to expect from my experience as I'd never been there. I'd been given a gift of body dessert in the past and wanted to see what the place was all about. I also needed a birthday gift for a friend of mine and wanted to get her something different. When I arrived, the owner greeted me, allowed me to try many of the products that they customize right there in the shop. Then I proceeded to have her make a custom scent (and color) of body dessert for my friend's birthday. She even labeled the bottle with my friend's name and the custom scent that I chose so she could go back and request the same scent when she runs out. I LOVE this place!!! You create your own bath products from scratch. You pick the scent and color of the bath product. There are so many different products to choose form: body gel, shower gel, exfoliating scrub, etc. They have so many scents its crazy! You can mix and match as many as you like until you get a scent that you want. The staff was extremely helpful and funny. They also have some amazing organic cloth bags that come with almost menthol/mint type "rocks" inside. They are so amazing to smell and extremely small to keep in your purse. Melissa was so easy to work with and we were able to schedule our party of 8 with a weeks notice. When we arrived to the party Bath Junkie had a wonderful set up for us and we were able to bring in food and wine. The party flowed smoothly and Melissa and her crew were so helpful and hospitable. This place is addictive. I just went for the second time last weekend with a girlfriend for her birthday. Think of it as Bath and Bodyworks on steroids. The quality of the products is wonderful, they're actually good for your skin versus the "other" place. It doesn't get any better than mixing and matching custom scents, plus a free hand treatment. I took the girl I am nannying here on a day trip and she had a BLAST! The women working were so kind and energetic, and made the experience far more fun. Making your own products with individualized scents and colors is more fun than you'd think. Yes, it is more pricey than anything you'd find at the drugstore/Sephora/Ulta most likely, but the fun is worth it! I made deodorant and my kid made a leave in conditioner. (They work great.) The staff were incredibly helpful and nice, and the products were great quality!
